Haven't been on the forums in ages. I wanted to do this last year with this character, but she can come onto the scene now.

Name: Morine Therma
Element of Participation: Ice
Class: Icewitch/Battlemage.
Abilities: Frost: Does what it says on the tin: makes things cold. Used as physcological method since it requires little energy.
Ice Spikes: Throws spikes of ice at the enemy like daggers.
Ice Shield: Summons and shapes ice into a shield. Can be used to deflect arrows and slow the impact of spells and swords. Not good against axes, maces or broadswords.
Frost Titan: Creates a golem made of ice. The figure is seven foot tall, and is as broad as an oak tree. Requires a lot of energy and concentration to control and summon.
Ice Skin: Permanent effect. Her skin is stronger than normal humans (though she needs to have armour, a sword can still chop her in half) which means her pain threshold is stronger than others. Cuts and scratches are harder to obtain.

Vital Statistics: Height - Five foot, seven inches. Weight - 11 stone.
Weaponry: Her spear she has blessed with ice magic. It reacts to her power, meaning if she channels ice energy (e.g. through Frost) her attacks can get slightly stronger. However, it limits her since she cannot cast outwards spells if she is channeling into it. The whole spear is made from steel crafted by assassins, whom she stole the spear from. Engraved into it are the names of every person she has killed. The blade part of the spear is a foot and a half long.
Secondary physical description: Deep black hair, with out-of-place streaks of white down the centre of it. Though it is long, it is rough, almost masculine. Her body is muscular after years of training and wondering. Her armour is light steel plates, the colour of frost (her Ice Skin ability allows lighter armour without too much risk). Her skin is extremely pale, in contrast with her black hair, and is very cold to touch. Her eyes are coloured though hints of emerald can be seen.
Background: Her mother was head of a group of Assassins. She raised her as a fighter, at an early age showing her the horrors of battle. This made her scared, which then made her dependant on her mother. Morine snapped, at the age of fifteen, when a child, brought by some astrayed knight, was gifted to her mother. Her inherited ice powers unlocked themselves in her frenzy, killing several assassins. As she grew older, she eventually fleed her old home, shifting through continents, working as a mercanary. When she was twenty one, she served under an actual king, but the kingdom was attacked by a powerful force. This made her flee for her life once again, at the age of Twenty-six. Her next destination was Lore.

Elegant, and with a great potential for added RP goodness without being total fluff given abilities. Very detailed and to the point as well. I like. Approved. ~Ronin

Well, though I'm certainly not meaning to add to the flood the ice applicants, this character really must participate this year. Best of luck to all.

Name: Espin of the Frozen Plateau
Element of Participation: Ice
Class, if applicable: Hunter

Abilities: Espin has the spirit and heart of the ever frozen tundra within his veins. Though he dresses in the fashion of his people, the thick leather hides do less to keep him from freezing as to allow him to remain cool now that he has traveled abroad. Any portion of his body can and will freeze if it is severed from his person, as the spirit of Ice reclaims it as its own. This includes, but is certainly not limited to, blood and hair, though the former actually must extend outside his body in order to freeze. Effectively, this means it will not freeze within a puncture wound, but instead form an icy cap overtop where the skin otherwise would be.

Additionally, because his core temperature is so cold, the very air Espin breathes can be exhaled, though only with intent, as a vapor cold enough to freeze the water droplets in the air and make it appear as if it is snowing. This is of course limited to the normal breathing capacity of any well exercised human and can not coat any significant area. What is important to note about this, however, is through careful control, he can exhale through a controlled form, such as a circle formed by his own fingers, and shape a construction of solid ice, though it is limited in diameter to that of the form he uses. The length of such a construction is determined only by the number of breaths he can manage to exhale during its creation. Such must be done successively and without interruption or it can not continue to be expanded upon.

<link to be added here>

Vital Statistics: Espin stands at 5’7” as a rather rotund man of 210 lbs. Despite approaching middle age, he still remains exceptionally fit, though many may see the working of his muscles under the isolating layer of his fat far too late.

Weaponry: Espin carries a metal ice axe with a sturdy loop of animal sinew attached to its handle. The weapon gleams prominently, as not only is it exceptionally well cared for, but his other weapons are all made of bone. Besides a hunting knife, he also can also remove the ribbings of his outermost coat, for they function not only well as armoring but also as balanced throwing daggers.

Secondary physical description: Obviously a man of a land where the thick ice never thaws, Espin carries himself with dignity and self-confidence. His bushy brown hair, speckled with its first grey sins of aging, is grown long, falling just barely passed his shoulders and a full but well tended beard covers his chin and trails proudly down onto his chest. The rest of his form is rather difficult to discern under thick and multilayered hides, usually leaving one with little more than the impression of a stout, short fellow with dark, intelligent eyes.

Background: Hailing from the same village as Enya, Espin lived a very different life, despite the very close childhood they shared together. When her role as Firekeeper was discovered, she became destined to be aloof, serving as a revered and untouchable treasure, as she alone provided life-giving warmth to all the people of their tribe. He, however, was gifted with control over Ice, meant to serve as their chief hunter, for only he could hope to guide them through the frozen wastes to game during otherwise deadly ice storms. Where she was always held at arm’s distance in order to honor her, he was provided with companionship and encouraged to marry, a pressure to which he submitted, for the sake of his tribe rather than love.

Now many years later, Enya has disappeared. She had promised to return after her participation in the Elemental Championships, but neither sign nor word of her has reached the village. While the tribe has managed to survive through the efforts of her young successor, the girl is, frankly, flighty and unreliable and many have become sick of her presence despite her necessity. Thus it was determined that one would be sent to find what they could of the missing woman, and volunteers were requested.

With no hesitation, Espin took up the role. The tribe might have difficulties without him, but they would still be able to survive; his recent efforts to stockpile food, hides, and whalezard oil aiding his argument to be allowed to quest for their missing Firekeeper. Now, armed as best as he could manage and wielding one of the tribe’s few and valuable metal tools, Espin brings his search to Enya’s last known location: The Elemental Championships.

Approved. Let's see how well you try to uphold your title from last year. ~Ronin

It is very useful to have a minion to aid in the paperwork. I appreciate Kell getting the list to this point, and now that I've finished the apps to this point, I will add the rest in a moment.

Clarification: Rule #9 is NEW and was added AFTER the start of the applications phase. This rule is to keep a definitive record of changes, letting me know PRECISELY how well you listen to what I say and what you attempt to do to fix things as a result. They aid me, and its in your best interest NOT to try and play edit games with me. Bolding changes remains optional, but it does help keep changes clear for both you and I. A pleased Director is much calmer and less aggravated than an angry Director, after all, and we all know what that could mean.

Also, as an aside, it also cuts down on instances of editing overwrites. Just had one with Aeschie, and while that isn't a problem in this case, I've not gotten to the point where I can take all this down on hardcopy notes. So please, do any spellchecks prior to posting and don't edit until I respond once you post your application.

Edit: I am done for the night. PMs and resubmissions/new submissions past this post will wait till tomorrow. Don't fret because I've not responded right away.

Name: Phork
Element of Participation: Fire
Class, if applicable: Wingman

Any abilities that require elaboration:

  • Can drink anyone under a table, and is very complimentary about anyone.
  • Almost instantaneous hair regeneration back to the original length; however, he can't make them grow longer on command.
  • Upon detachment, his hair can turn into myriads of raw meat cuts.
  • His saliva is tasty and flavorful and can be changed according to his wishes; he can spit out large amounts at a time.
  • Has a really hard nose; it's unbreakable.
  • Within a small radius around him, he can set anything he has touched on fire. This is limited to physical contact with his actual body(including hair) contact only.
  • He can also heat any part of himself; the heat can be any form: radiation, induction. However, he is not immune to heat in fact his heat tolerance is very normal.
  • If certain conditions should arise, he can fly for short durations, but the occurrence should be made really clear IC.

Also not so small thing to note is that Phork is a giant humanoid bird disguised as person with magical means.

Posty

As long as you adhere to what we talked about on IRC that you approached me with to a sane degree, this is fine. Approved. ~Ronin

Name: Farsith The Mad
Element of Participation: Darkness
Class, if applicable: Fighter/Mage combination
Abilities: He mainly uses his swords, so his magic is not great. In fact it borders on terrible.
His madness, though, makes him use spells at his disposal, seemingly at random.
His spells are as follows:
Dark Shot~He fires a beam of concentrated darkness. Straight line.
Shield~A basic shield spell, although very weak.
Shadow Shape~He transforms his body into a shadow, enabling him to either sneak up on someone, or get away from somwone. Takes a lot of effort though.
Shadow Fighter~He summons a warrior made from shadows. Ranges from a single warrior to ten, ranging acording to his state of mind. These are merely foot soldiers capable of dealing only slight damage. Great when used as a distraction, but they can be very deadly if used on an unprepared opponent.
<Link will go here when it is time>
Height: He is about 6'
Weight: He weighs 140 lbs.
Weaponry: He uses twin swords, called the Madness of Farsith. These are identical, with the exception of one being a bit longer than the other.
They are made from shadows, allowing him to change their appearence acording to will. He can't change their length though. One is 2,5' while the other is 2'.

Reposted as requested...

Ten is still too many, even if they couldn't deal damage, because of the gross tactical advantage they can afford. And even a weak grazing blow can matter in combat to grant advantages...which you can still mob everyone in the Finals to weaken right off the bat that way. Ten also makes very little sense given Farsith's seemingly large drain in casting two of his other three spells. Bring this down to a more acceptable number. Farsith remains Conditionally Approved. ~Ronin

This submission is denied on multiple grounds. 1. Blatant ripoff of copyrighted material, this has led to a ban from the RP Group before when claimed as wholly the banned's own work. Consider this a general reminder and a warning. 2. Overpowered no matter the intent of RPing a nebulously ill-defined sense of fatigue according to the submission. No listed or even implied limits on the number of Zerglings summoned, and yes, I'm calling them what they obviously are. Furthermore, any significant number...beyond 5, really...sets up instakill 'bomb chains' via the explosion spell. No. 3. Its either one Dark Orb, or none. WERE this bio to otherwise be approved, it would have required taking out any hint of summoning a second. Feel free to resubmit a new application. Denied. ~Ronin

1: My apologies. My intent was to do a minor reference to StarCraft for the amusement of any other fans in the EC. Apparently, the reference got out of hand... I'll change the zerglings to generic imps.
2: I'm not sure I understand this. Are you objecting to there not being any real limit on the number of summons? If that is
the case, I will put a hard maximum on the number of summons at 12. I will also remove the explosion spell.
3: Okay then. I'll put a hard max of 1 Dark Orb. Also, using the Orb will lower the number of Imps he can control to 9.

Also, Ronin plays StarCraft?

New bio:

Name: Esir Prus
Element of Participation: Darknes
Class: Summoner
Abilities:
--Summon Imp: Esir is capable of summoning demonic imps from the lower planes to fight for him. He is only capable of controlling 12 of them at once; any more and he will faint.
--Summon Dark Orb: The Dark Orb is Esir's most dangerous summon and one which he rarely uses. The Orb appears as a large ball of blue fog, with a diameter about equal to an average man's height. It can stun enemy fighters, block attacks, and drain enemy caster's energy. The Orb also has minor telepathic abilities. Using the Orb is very draining for Esir, and takes up three of his "Summon Slots". (In other words, if he has the Orb out, he can only control nine Imps. Trying to pass this limit will result in fainting.) He is also unable to control more than one Orb at a time.
--Summon Control: Esir can telepathically control his summons. He can also see from the viewpoint of any summoned Imp (or Dark Orb).
<link to first post goes here>
Vital Statistics:
--Height: Esir is very tall for a man on his age, which is 25.
--Weight: Average.
Weaponry: None. Esir focuses exclusively on his summons.

I still have somewhat of an issue of gross tactical advantage similar to Farsith, but the lack of combat ability outside of Esir's summons is a bit more balancing in your favor. Reduce the number of "summon slots" a tad. That Dark Orb is extremely versatile, too. Also, I will say this. The future of the allowance of multiple-summon capable characters will be on your head and Frozt's, once approved. Also, for the love of the Elemental Lords, spell your element of participation right! Conditionally Approved. ~Ronin

Been awhile. Don't think most of you guys knew I actually started on this Forum as RPer.

Name: Kysi ir'Kalain
Element of Participation: Darkness
Class, if applicable: Swashbuckler
Abilities:
An interesting thought: Kysi has the ability to enter a suggestion in someone's mind, who will see it as a thought of his own. This thought will just be a thought, not a command. If it's a thought that's true to the targets soul, he will give it more weight than normal, but will still be able to put the suggestion off for another choice.
Height: He is 184 cm
Weight: He weighs 74 kg.
Weaponry: He uses two swords, a Kukri and a rapier. Nothing magical, but deadly nevertheless, cause y'know, they are sharp.

http://forums2.battleon.com/f/tm.asp?m=16328291&mpage=1

Bio: Kysi is your typical swashbuckler, quick-witted, with a ready smile, and always up for a fight. This has gotten him thrown in prison more than once, where he got involved into some darker secrets, despite not being stereotypical dark 'evil' himself, carefree is more his description.

Just to note: I'll be gone 16 to 20 July, and 3rd to 11th of August, but we already discussed this in PM :)

Your minor telepathy ability, which is really what it is when you think about it, likely will require a bit more OOC cooperation than usual. I LIKE that idea, muwhahahah. Otherwise, there's not a single thing particularly standing out about your character, and we already discussed part of that absentia aspect. Approved. ~Ronin

Name: Chelsea Yubo
Element of Participation: Ice
Class, if applicable: Spellsword would be closest
Any abilities that require elaboration:
Glacial Genesis: Instead of relying on local humidity and water sources, she has mastered this skill. It allows her to directly convert mana to ice. This actually takes less mana, since none is expended pulling the moisture from the local area, and allows for faster and more dynamic ice generation. The ice she generates is also more resilient than normal ice, and while not at the calibre of metal armor, provides decent defense against strikes, and is excellent at nullifying spells. She can generate the ice in any form she chooses within twelve feet of her position. She can also completely control her creations with her range or launch them out at foes, at which point they become no different than any other projectile.

First Post

Vital Statistics: 5'8" (172cm), 130 lbs (59kg)
Weaponry: A wicked variation on a Naginata: a three foot shaft with a thin four foot serrated blade. The butt end of the shaft has a three inch spike.

{PS} Reposted. I believe this should adequately fill in the blanks.

Indeed it does. Approved. ~Ronin

Well, as asked of me. I have done some changes to him: he is now more warrior-based, I removed all heat-from-light abilities, gave him some more weight, and some more armor.

Name: Blaze "The sun's fury" Drakestorm
Element of Participation: Light
Class, if applicable: spellsword
Any abilities that require elaboratiIn general, he is proficient at light manipulation, and knows some basic light magic.

-condensation: He can condense light. This is not complete solidification, merely allowing light to apply pressure to something. The more light condensed, and the further away the light is, the weaker the condensation gets. The pressure level is dependent on the energy put forth, for example, in a scale from one to ten, to create a pressure hard enough to pierce leather would be a 4, while to go through armour might be an 8.
-He can store light and magic in the insignia on his katana.
-His light spells include light beams, light explosions, balls of light, and other basics.
-His shield is enchanted, and can deflect weak magical attacks as well.

<First post>

(Optional from this point on)
Vital Statistics:
Height: 6FT
Weight: 160LBS
Build: Lean, a bit towards the muscular side

Weaponry:
-A plain katana with a magical sun insignia on the blade. A light-blue leather grip, and a sun-decorated tsuba finish the design.
-A vest, most of it is scalemail on black leather, except for the top front half, which is made of light steel, with a sun painted in the center.
-Scalemail greaves, steel leaf-shaped scales, only cover the thigh.
-Scalemail vambraces, steel leaf-shaped scales.
-Black leather boots.
-Black leather gauntlets, with a small sun painted on the back of each.
-Black steel kite shield, with a large sun painted in the center.

Secondary physical description for also reference's sake:
Wavy, shoulder-length platinum hair frame a handsome visage of light complection, set with ethereal bright green eyes, a straight nose, and a small, thin mouth. High cheekbones and a well-structured jaw set the stage for a short, well-cut beard. An aura of piece and calm calculation surrounds this tall, lean, young man of about thirty-five winters.
Background:
Blaze Drakestorm was born into a harsh, unethical family. He grew up learning the rules of cowardice and blood. At the age of thirteen, Blaze started to see the errors of his ways, and the ways of his family. He soon ran away, and was found and adopted by the Drakestorms, a paladin family. With the help of his new family, he learned the ways of law and honour. He was taught how to fight so that one day he would go out and protect the world from those who would bring it harm. His name was Glaern Timurry, but after being adopted by the Drakestorm family, he has taken the name Blaze Drakestorm. He has graduated from several schools, both of thought and combat. He has a wife and two children. He is now an experienced warrior, and has come to the Elemental Championships to prove his worth in battle, and to prove his loyalty to the Light Lord.

Hope there's nothing wrong this time.

Much better, from the mechanical standpoint, this time around. Nothing really wrong at this stage of it, so for lack of anything else to generally nitpick until you RP the character in the Dropoffs...Approved. ~Ronin

No, I do NOT insist upon losing. Let me think of something else.
Well, when you put it THAT way...glad you changed your mind. ~Ronin

Name: Lord Madmourner
Element of Participation: Darkness
Class, if applicable: Extreme Warrior
Any abilities that require elaboration: No inherent magical abilities, but two armor-based effects; first, his armor -- white scale, for the record -- seems to suck in light. The armor itself is quite bright and reflective, but if you were to glance at Madmourner, you would think him and his immediate surroundings to be obscured by some sort of mundane shadow, although anything more than a mere glance would likely recognize that nothing is there to cast the shadow. The more intense the light, the more powerful the effect -- putting a serious dent in light-based attacks of any strength (of course, there is an upper limit, but not one that one would reasonably expect to ever be reached). The second effect is a resistance to immobilizing or weakening effects -- not a complete resistance, of course, but quite an effective one, requiring a particularly potent skill to overcome. Also, his weapon is ensorcelled, as detailed below.
< And lo! The placeholder begat a link>

Vital Statistics: Once more, tall and heavy, and once more, even more so when armored.
Weaponry: A powerful, two-handed greatsword which inflicts black and whithered wounds that will continue to plague the enemy until healed. In addition, strapped to his back are twelve small wing-tipped spears, wrapped in cloth.
Secondary physical description for also reference's sake: the white scale gives him a viking sort of look, but the greatsword has a decidedly fantasy feel, with unnecessary trimmings and shapes. So think super-viking, or a stereotypical dwarf put into human proportions.
Background: Any past he may have had before becoming a lord under the Darkness Lord's command is unknown to the world and probably quite hellish if it resulted in the demonic masochist he is known as.

Nitpicking time...what happens when a spell has a secondary characteristic of immobilization? Such as, say, some Ice caster targeting Madmourner and dropping several blocks of ice on his head that, as a secondary property, refreeze into one solid block surrounding the clobbered Madmourner? A clarification for my knowledge on that count is about all I need, and may be submitted via PM. Conditionally Approved. ~Ronin

So how does this denied thing work? Do I get to re-submit the character by fixing all the things, or do I have to make a new character?

Either can work, but 'by fixing all the things', you really do need to take heed of what I said. Ignoring my commentary is like asking "Can you not approve this character, ever?" :P ~Ronin

Name: F'thear K'bar
Element of Participation: Water
Class, if applicable: Ilithid Seashifter
Any abilities that require elaboration:
As a frightening, tentacle-faced ilithid, K'bar's psionics can interfere with senses beyond the original five. Further, he passively suppresses magic within three feet of himself. This doesn't prevent spells from being cast, but instead lessens the power and control of the affected. Fire spells become more like flamethrowers, as shapes and details beyond element type and direction become distorted or even nonexistent.
Also, he's a seashifter: a being with an affinity for changing himself or parts of his body into living things from the sea. With large creatures like whales, he's limited to morphing up single body parts. He's limited to borrowing aspects from two animals at a time.
Last but not least, watch out for those facial tentacles! They were made to burrow into the skull to devour delicious gray matter!
<No fear! Link goes here!>

Height: Six feet from feet to top of head, but he's usually hunched forward.
Weight: Heavy
Weaponry: He carries a simple staff made of remarkably smooth coral.
Secondary physical description for also reference's sake:
His skin is a luminous dark purple with pale green spots all over. He's always slimy to the touch. His fingers are like a human's. K'bar's head looks a lot like an octopus, complete with the dreaded mass of tentacles. No one's really gotten close enough to count to make sure there were exactly eight. He's clothed in a robe colored with strange geometric designs of green, purple, and a little bit of red. The designs are baffling to behold and contemplate; the shapes seem born of madness on close inspection, as they don't seem... quite right. It's impossible to explain exactly what the strange quality is.
Background: From the underdark came this Ilithid seashifter. For the his hive he had come to the surface for the occasion, clothed in his fanciest clothing (courtesy of Em'Cee Ehshur), with the desire to bring the favor of the lord of water back to his hive as the champion of this, the most prestigious of the surface-dwellers' tournaments.

This is powerful. Quite so...and you have a certain history in the EC that does not help me rule in favor of allowing it. So...here's what we'll do. You can pick to keep the psionic ability or that magic suppressing aura. Either way, as a general reminder, you will be watched closely. You are already two strikes in the hole. Conditional Approval. ~Ronin.

Name: Meru
Element: Earth
Class: Shapeshifter
Height: 7' 4", but normally walks in a crouching position, like a gargoyle. (He is a gargoyle!)
Weight: 1000 lbs (He is made of stone, after all.)

Appearance: Meru looks like your overage gargoyle, except without wings. He is fairly muscular, and has a vicious look to his face.

Background: Meru was originally a gargoyle on top of a church. He was enchanted by a wizard to become a living being. The wizard placed a ruby in the center of hs chest, magically enchanted to cause him to come alive. If this ruby is destroyed, Meru will die.

Abilities:
Absorb: Meru can melt and absorb any piece of himself that breaks off. Please note that this contributes to the one-ton limit mentioned below.
Shapeshift: Meru can melt himself and reform into new shapes. He can shift twice a day. He can also melt any part of his body to partially shift. If the amount of himself he shifts weighs more than a ton, Meru cannot shift or absorb broken pieces anymore. As pieces break off, Meru's ability scales. If he lost so mant pieces he only weighed 500 pounds, he would not be able to shift twice as much simply because he weighs less. He can also throw melted parts of himself.

I already wrote this before kenzoku *glares* stole my shapeshifter idea.Should I change it, or should we have a fight to the death to decide who gets to be a shapeshifter? I prefer the secon option... *Grrrrr...*

Another potentially powerful shapeshifter...but one with less major 'perks'. I'll casually remind all participants that uniqueness of concept is nice, but not necessary, as uniqueness in carrying out that concept ICly matters just as much. So I wouldn't worry about it. You can keep this character as a shapeshifter, or if you really don't want to feel like a copycat of Kenzoku, you can resubmit a different character. I'll need to know that you have the conviction to keep the character, as it otherwise could be approved now, so until you decide this needs to be Conditionally Approved instead. ~Ronin

I'm fairly certain that there is room for more than one shape-shifter... <.< Not that they have such a great track record in the EC anyways.

Axel, I believe Ronin will still accept an application of a denied character should you edit it to address the issues he's pointed out.

Name: Kylie Liyult
Element of Participation: Fire
Class, if applicable: Battlemage
Any abilities that require elaboration:Has 3 fire spells, just like average spells. Using fire to hurt someone via magic. One is Inferno (From AQ), one is a Firewall, which makes a wall of fire, size varies by amount of MP, (From no game I know of.) and one that just shoots fire.

She can also put her hands and legs on fire.

Can summon ReignBringer Sword (From AQ) by making a stabbing gesture with her hands, A bow and flaming arrow (From no game I know of...) by pulling her hand towards her body, as if getting ready to shoot with a bow, and a fire Vampragon by whistling. (From AQ) Each lasting one hit/throw/attack.
Link: Coming Soon.

Vital Statistics: She's a 5 foot 11 inch girl, of average weight. 17 years old.
Weaponry: Similar to ReignBringer, but a staff.
Background: She was born in a family of ice magic users. They were calm, nice, kind, modest, gentle, and everything she wasn't. She destined to be different from them so she got into fire. Once she converted all of her ice powers and spells to fire, she could begin her training. She trained some fighting powers, and some magic, not great at either, but definitely not bad. She heard of an Elemental Fighting Contest and had to show everyone she was the best.

Thank you for clarifying what I asked. I have no further issues at this time, so Approved. ~Ronin

I copied you not, <Randomletters>! You are a gargoyle, I am in ilithid. You melt and reform into different shapes, I adopt parts from sea creatures. We are different characters, my friend. Let the mind flayer be.

Alternatively, tear the squid-face's tentacles off and stuff them down his throat. I've always found that effective when dealing with Illithid.

I'm with TD on this one, hard to focus on your psionics while choking on your own tentacles.

That is not only effective against Ilithids...
It can be used against ANYTHING with tentacles, with a minimal change in effectiveness... :D

I've noticed that a lot of people seem to have trouble with getting their heights and weights to mesh properly. Here's a body mass index calculator. It's not a perfect tool, but it might be useful.

Name: Kalen Kalthain

Element of Participation: Energy

Class: Monk (Of a largely eradicated order known as the Drak)

Abilities requiring description: ‘Self Control.’ (slightly more exciting than its sounds…)

This ability enables a Drak to consciously command all functions of their own body, permitting them to manipulate their senses, breathing, pulse, brain waves, blood flow, etc. A couple of the more extreme effects are:

Accelerated healing. Blood can be forced to coagulate faster, poisons consciously expelled from the body. Will not have effect on major injuries.

Electrical discharge. This ability effectively enables the Drak to discharge a burst of electricity from their own body in the form of a lightning blast. May only be used once in a 30 minute period.

<link to first post>

Vital Statistics: Human, 21, male, 6‘2“, 14 stone, athletic build.

Weaponry:

Gallaphile’s gift: A left handed gauntlet, crafted from an odd mixture of copper and blackened steel, passed onto Kalen by the late Lord Gallaphile. The gauntlet drains the energy of any magic within a 6 feet radius of the radius. The exact effect of this upon sorceries is variable- a fireball hurled against the bearer might be entirely unaffected, reduced in power, or randomly thrown off course. ‘Magical’ creatures may slowly grow fatigued in the gauntlet’s presence. A spring-loaded, wooden stake has been added to the underside of the gauntlet.

In addition, Kalen carries a mithril war hammer, a dagger, 4 throwing knives, a rope with a grappling hook and a tinderbox. He wears a mithril vest underneath his leather tunic.

Physical Description:

Tall and long limbed, Kalen has an athletic physique, with corded muscles resulting from years of training. His long, unruly dark hair and unkempt stubble give him a traveller’s appearance, exacerbated by numerous muddy stains on his dark cloak, forest green tunic and black leggings. The warrior’s green eyes can sometimes appear old beyond his years, yet are also capable of dancing with merriment and laughter.

Background:

4 years ago, the Draks’ monastic home, Narlich, was destroyed by Orc hordes. An initiate at the monastery, Kalen survived the attack primarily through luck, and- following the subsequent destruction of the horde- has since wandered the lands, searching for rumours of fellow survivors. To date he has found none. Kalen has entered the tournament in the hope that any fame gained as a result of his participation will find its way out to fellow survivors.

I'll say this, I expect you to cooperate OOCly with the variable effect of Gallaphile's Gift. I like the character, otherwise, well done. Approved. ~Ronin

Edited, to include link to first post.

*Groan* *Stretch* *Crack*

Whew haven't used these muscles in a while :D

Well hopefully I'll do better than my water-nado from last year. I'll be using the same character. Or not... since I can't seem to locate him... Well maybe I can find someone else! Nevermind again! Huzzah for the show all topics button!

He is here :D minus one hand. So see the *

*Nightly's hand. I don't remember which one, I'll need to take this up with TD. Anyways, lets just say its his left hand. His left hand got cut off during the last EC. He's older, he's smarter, (hopefully) and he's less flamboiant. (misspelled?) Back to the hand, since it was cut off, he replaced it with a practical long sword. Just a plain sword that white. In his other hand is his other... stuff....

Hmm.... In review of the other *accepted* applicants, I'm moving my element to earth. Just to be interesting :D The sword doesn't do the *wind slash* anymore either.

You will have to submit your character properly, and not via a link. So...erm...Denied? ~Ronin

Name: Karl Messer
Element of Participation: Energy
Class, if applicable: Duelist
Any abilities that require elaboration:
-Muscles are drastically sped up due to the amount of energy coursing through them.
-Can transmit that electricity through metal objects and into others, but not directly through other people.

Link to first post

Height: 5'5"
Weight: 135
Weaponry: A three foot long, finely crafted steel rapier with a wrapped wire hilt. A purple shoulder cloak, approximately three feet in length with steel threads woven into the material, thus giving him an extra tool to guard with and to extend his electrical ability.

Description: Easily one of the fastest, if not best, duelists around. With his electrically enhanced speed he can parry, riposte, and thrust with the speed of lightning, but beyond his sword range he has nothing except for quick feet to bring him back into range. He is merely a human noble who gave up his land and trappings for the adventurous life of a duelist.

I could argue that muscle reaction speed pretty much is already at electrical impulse speed, but since when has *science* bogged us RPers down from a good, fun niche ability? Approved, and I look forward to seeing ya run with it. ~Ronin
