Dialogue
Frostscythe: No!
Frostscythe: NO!!

*Scene shows Frostscythe falling to his knees in the Hollow hive thanks to efforts from you, your dragon, Vilmor, and Cryozen; however, Frostscythe is not about to be defeated yet.*

Frostscythe: I won't fail!
<Character>: You already did. Face it, it's all you've ever done since you turned your back on the one person who still believed you.
<Character>: Now your one shot at me keeping her away from you is shutting up and not making a single move while we drag you to the DragonLords.

*Your words appear to anger Frostscythe even more as Cryozen is in shock; Frostscythe uses its Hollow arm to capture Cryozen with vines, but Vilmor punches him.*

Vilmor: Enough! No more schemes...

*Vilmor conjures a big, frozen katar.*

Vilmor: No more slavery!
Vilmor: NO MORE BETRAYAL.
Vilmor: NO. MORE.

*Frostscythe looks at the Hollow spores and he try to reach for it; however, your dragon and Cryozen freezes his Hollow arm with ice magic, causing you to cut his Hollow arm off; this allows Vilmor to kill Frostscythe with her blade before kneeling down after killing him; scene then fades, before fading back in; you, your dragon, Vilmor, and Cryozen are now back in the frozen cave from A Chilling Realization as it is now nighttime; you and Vilmor sit around a campfire following Frostscythe's death as they reflect his insidious actions, all while your dragon and Cryozen are sleeping.*

Vilmor: We had him cornered. He had no chances left. There was no way he could pull anything off.
Vilmor: Why wouldn't he stop? Why did he go for Cryozen again?
<Character>: Who knows what that fungus was doing to his brain... But that was already the kind of person he'd turned into.
<Character>: I was hoping he'd see that he had nowhere left to run this time, and maybe he'd do something differently for once...
Vilmor: I've been wishing things had gone differently for a long time, but I can't hold on to hope like that.
<Character>: Someone has to. Even if it doesn't always work. For the people who might make a different choice, if someone gets through to them.
<Character>: For the times someone else might get hurt if you go in swinging.

*You look at Vilmor as an example of Frostscythe's past actions.*

<Character>: And for people like you, who were wronged.

*Vilmor is surprised by your words.*

Vilmor: Is that why you're not judging me?

*You nod back at Vilmor before she looks at you; Vilmor then switches topics to about handling situations like this.*

Vilmor: How do you handle it when it doesn't work?
<Character>: I don't have to like it to realize it was going to happen sooner or later.
<Character>: This wasn't like people who might listen, or can realize they're out of options.
<Character>: Frostscythe...
<Character>: ... Some people have already made up their mind about how things will be when they have their way, and won't have things any other way.
<Character>: Any time he failed? He acted like, in his head, he'd already succeeded at the next scheme.
<Character>: He wouldn't stop killing and enslaving people, no matter what.
Vilmor: Yeah. Honestly? I wasn't going to give him a chance, but for Cryozen's sake, I'm glad you did. It was a better example for Cryozen to at least try.
<Character>: What about you? Will you be okay?
Vilmor: Don't worry about me. I'll get myself together after some rest. The best healing for us is to do our best.
Vilmor: Sure, I'd prefer it if things went back to being as simple as fighting monsters and fixing up homes, but there's a lot that needs doing out here.
Vilmor: I'm actually trying not to rush Cryozen, but you just try slowing him down. ...Actually, you probably know exactly what that's like.
<Character>: Yep. The only thing <Dragon> slows down for is snack breaks.
Vilmor: It's good those two got to play so much, then. They got to spend a lot of energy. Plus I hadn't seen Cryozen even try to make friends before.
<Character>: They've got a chaotic way of making friends.
Vilmor: I haven't been the best example there. I don't think he ever saw me make friends.
<Character>: Until now?

*Vilmor is surprised by your reaction to Cryozen not being able to make friends for a long time.*

Vilmor: ...Yeah. Until now.

*You smile at Vilmor.*

<Character>: ...You know, it's hard to get used to actually getting you talking, after how we first met.
Vilmor: Would it help if I tied you to a tree again?
<Character>: ...Nope. And now I'm taking the first watch. Good night!
Vilmor: Hahaha!

*Scene fades to black, before fading back in; the next morning, you and your dragon meet with Inspector Doyle on a Dragonslayers' encampment; you have relayed your mission's success to him.*

Inspector Doyle: You have my sincerest gratitude. The five of you stopped what could have become a horrible threat.
Inspector Doyle: As for Frostscythe... I won't pretend I'm not glad to hear of his end.
Inspector Doyle: Honestly, the most pleasant surprise is that you all worked so well together. You have no idea of how helpful this report will be.
<Character>: I can imagine. You were committed to finding the truth about Vilmor for so long. This must be really validating.
Inspector Doyle: You bet. *yawn* Sorry... Long day... Days. Now they can't keep saying that Vilmor can't be worked with.
Inspector Doyle: Or latch on to the mistake she did make to keep treating her like a pariah.
Inspector Doyle: But this is bigger than me. This is the perfect case to back my reform for how we handle investigations, internal emergencies, diplomacy...
Inspector Doyle: Which reminds me.
Inspector Doyle: What about Galanoth?

*Scene pans out to show Galanoth, who is behind Inspector Doyle.*

Galanoth: What about me?

*The appearance of Galanoth scares Inspector Doyle, causing him to fall on a haystack nearby.*

Galanoth: ...I was already here. You need to get some sleep already.
<Character>: Er... You alright, Doyle?

*Inspector Doyle gives a thumbs up from the haystack as he is okay.*

Galanoth: He's going to work himself into an early grave at this rate.

*Inspector Doyle's hand slowly slithers away from the haystack.*

<Character>: Still, I'm curious too. What about you? How did things work out when you returned?
Galanoth: About how you'd expect. Some DragonLords were fine with it. Others weren't. Lestrad actually started some speech about duty and gratitude.
Galanoth: I just patted his back and walked out in the middle.
<Character>: I'm sure he took that well. What's next for you?
Galanoth: A lot of hard work reconnecting with the slayers, to start with.
Galanoth: Kord's not the only one having an identity crisis right now, just the first to take it out on the wrong people at the wrong time.
Galanoth: I know how to deal with that, and it's not with words. It's also definitely not by staying here.
Galanoth: Many of them went through the same kind of nightmare I grew up in. It's not something you ever get rid of.
Galanoth: You carry it differently. You learn to turn "Never again" into a weapon.
Galanoth: It's all that keeps you standing. All that lets you open your eyes again when you close them.
Galanoth: They've stacked up everything on that pillar. The good and the bad.
<Character>: So asking them to change one thing feels like asking them to lose their whole foundation.
Galanoth: Yeah. Look, if reason was magic, I'd have figured everything out after meeting you and <Dragon>...
Galanoth: ... or seeing what the DragonLords are really like...
Galanoth: But that just started me thinking that things weren't simple. I'm a doer, not a philosopher. I didn't really have the words to figure out how I felt.
Galanoth: It took meeting someone who had felt that pain. Someone I could talk to for days about it, who saw things from the side I'd never wanted to.
Galanoth: And now that I finally know the right words to say to my people...
Galanoth: I also know that words aren't going to fix everything. They've had their own moment of losing their pillar, now.
Galanoth: So I'm going to show them a new one. I'm going to show them I can still lead if they choose to follow me.
Galanoth: Then we'll understand by doing, not just talking.
<Character>: What does this new pillar look like?
Galanoth: When it came down to it, even the most zealous slayers chose saving people over anything else. I'm going to focus on that.
Galanoth: Dragons are people. Powerful people, with all the mess that involves. We don't need to reject that. We just need to work with a simple truth.
Galanoth: When very powerful people turn rotten, someone needs to even the scales. Either to fight back against them, or to put them in their place.
Galanoth: We'll be the equalizer.
<Character>: I'll cheer for that. What about anyone that just wants to keep killing dragons, though?
Galanoth: Same principle. If they won't stick to fighting back against evil dragons? I'm always up for putting my entire fist through a murderer's teeth.
<Character>: I'd cheer for that too, but I'm assuming this wise streak of yours means you've got more than threats to inspire them to follow you...
Galanoth: You bet. Funny thing about that "wise streak", though.
Galanoth: When your people are worried you might have gone rusty from all the standing around, that's not what they need.
Galanoth: So, how about we give them some entertainment? You want to see how well I can keep up with you?
<Character>: You want an armored crowd to watch me kick your butt?
Galanoth: Ha. Slayers! Form up!
Galanoth: It's showtime.

  • Battle! - begins battle with Galanoth.
  • Heal - fully replenishes HP, MP, and potions.
  • Run Away! - launches Leave Quest confirmation box; clicking 'Yes' will teleport player to Dragesvard's Shore.

*You defeat Galanoth in order to encourage the Dragonslayers.*

Galanoth: Now that'll get the blood pumping for the road. Maybe I am slowing down a bit, but I can work on it. You alright, <Character>?
<Character>: That was fun. Listen to the crowd.
Slayer (1): That's 20 gold for me! Pay up... Huh? Where'd you- HEY!, Slayer (2): Lunch and a show!
Slayer (3): How about an encore, boss?
Galanoth: Sure, you want to fight <Character> next?

*One of the Dragonslayers slides away from the scene as they appear their strength will not be enough to beat you.*

    Slayer (3): ...I'm good.
Galanoth: Hah. Look, big fond farewells aren't my thing, <Character>, so: Thanks for everything. Don't be a stranger.
<Character>: Good luck, Galanoth. See you around.
<Dragon>: Don't forget to visit my minions for storytime! | *Eager chirping*

    *Galanoth leaves the scene.*

<Character>: Well, that's one heck of an answer to your question, right Doyle?
    Inspector Doyle: Zzzz...

    *Scene cuts to black.*
