Mystical Warrior -> RE: =DF= Guardian Discussion Thread (5/4/2015 7:30:54)

@DarkDevil something similar to EDL right? Yeah that would be kinda cool.

Either way, still waiting for the stats of each skill so we know how powerful each skill is exactly

Blaze24 -> RE: =DF= Guardian Discussion Thread (5/4/2015 8:29:55)

The new design made drop my Dragon Amulet. Finally a redesign to the Guardian class!

The walking animation gives the hero a noble appearance and I like that but imagine seeing that animation in some "running/chasing" cutscene in the story, it would look weird in my opinion. The eyebrows kinda sorta bothers me a little too though. It should've stayed like the normal appearance, the unchanged hero face I mean. But overall I like it. Good job![:)]

godofthunder4 -> RE: =DF= Guardian Discussion Thread (5/4/2015 9:10:47)

I was testing the preview for the Guardian class. I was fighting a boss when I clicked Awether's power...I did 20,933 damage...was that supposed to happen or is that a bug? When I did the move, my character glowed red and there was a text box that appeared that said "Awether's power flows through you!", then I struck, and one shot Meltface mode Akriloth from the Fire Orb saga...

Was that supposed to happen?

LouisCyphere -> RE: =DF= Guardian Discussion Thread (5/4/2015 9:18:09)

@godofthunder: That's part of the skill. It has a 1% chance of happening.

Can something be done with the layering of weapons when using Guardian? I'm using the Time Core Edge and I can't change the element during a battle.

Azan -> RE: =DF= Guardian Discussion Thread (5/4/2015 10:07:50)

godofthunder4: Congrats, you just got incredibly lucky.[:)]

Mystical Warrior -> RE: =DF= Guardian Discussion Thread (5/4/2015 10:16:57)

That also happened to me, although the damage I did was like somewhere 10k, its not a crit though so that may be one cause, and the monster didn't have any resistance to the element I was using, although getting to see big numbers like this aside from DmK is a pretty good change.

Just notice that the animation for Spiral Carve doesn't make sense, I find it more fitting if the animation used was one of those spinning moves from the Paladin skillset, I don't know if that can be easily migrated to the Guardian class, but if it does, it would be more fitting.

Edit: Another option for an animation for Spiral Carve is throwing the weapon like a boomerang, dunno if there's an animation similar to it, IIRC mage had a spinning move like that also but the weapon wasn't thrown

Mordred -> RE: =DF= Guardian Discussion Thread (5/4/2015 12:55:07)

@Mystical Warrior: Vaal and Riorr have skills where they throw Transcendence (Vaal's awesome claymore) like Cap's shield, so the animation could possibly be adjusted.

So, will Guardian NPCs be changed at some point in the future to use this art? Certainly not immediately, considering how many there are, but some time, right?

David the Wanderer -> RE: =DF= Guardian Discussion Thread (5/4/2015 13:01:11)

@Mordred: Considering all the classes that got revamped and had a new art in their previews had the new art added as soon as the preview ended, I guess Guardian will use the new art as soon as the preview ends as well.

Mystical Warrior -> RE: =DF= Guardian Discussion Thread (5/4/2015 13:10:31)

@David Wanderer I think its for the NPCs in backgrounds and in the towns, I highly agree on Mordred that will have to be manually changed for that.

Magyarka -> RE: =DF= Guardian Discussion Thread (5/4/2015 13:44:30)

I LOVE IT! The scar and white eyebrow, the glacier cool stance, the big frickin' shield that can shoot light, summon guardian spirits, this is easily my favourite class design so far.

David the Wanderer -> RE: =DF= Guardian Discussion Thread (5/4/2015 14:09:38)

@Mystical Warrior: Whoops, I completely missed the NPC part! XD
Anyways, I guess NPCs won't be updated (DL NPCs didn't get art upgrades when DL did).

Dark Lord Urmi -> RE: =DF= Guardian Discussion Thread (5/4/2015 14:20:43)

i 100% loved it.

DarkDevil -> RE: =DF= Guardian Discussion Thread (5/4/2015 15:53:00)

an art bug when using Limkragg's breath against large monsters like bargok the flame hits the ground in front of you and doesn't reach the enemy.
same with fallen heroes but it is less noticeable.

unknownaka -> RE: =DF= Guardian Discussion Thread (5/4/2015 16:56:41)

The New Revamp Changes the class alot animation-wise. Also some of the names are more fitting.

Emrys -> RE: =DF= Guardian Discussion Thread (5/4/2015 17:57:11)

I remember not using the old guardian class at all once I unlocked it, but the revamp is very impressive and a lot of fun to use. Rage is awesome, I finally have learned to appreciate determined element attacks, and the animations and art are fantastic. I felt like I was blocking a lot more, is it supposed to be a defensive class? I think my favorite part is how the guardian dragon attacks with the element of your guest dragon (or is it just always bacon?)

Deviance -> RE: =DF= Guardian Discussion Thread (5/4/2015 18:27:51)

It looks good ^^ Im just going to say this, but why is a crossover class more aesthetically pleasing than the defining class of this game :P Im not saying its worse, but Guardian is just a bit more crisp than EDL is... Then again, I'll be ecstatic when Paladin comes out :3

Btw, I love the walking animation, its a great relief from having to run everywhere haha.

Lord GrimDusk -> RE: =DF= Guardian Discussion Thread (5/4/2015 19:05:09)

How low is the rate for Awethur's PWD effect?

DarkLore -> RE: =DF= Guardian Discussion Thread (5/4/2015 19:14:41)

One percent.

I can attempt to fix that. Not sure if it's layering or just something missing selection wise.

I can change the name but I have to use what's built into the class in terms of skill animations. Animations from other classes would have to be moved in and adjusted and that's not really something I can handle doing right now.

That's not really an art bug, that's just where the skill itself is hitting. It's not a "summoned" thing like Mage's fireball. It's a hard animated effect that goes from point A to point B, not Player to Monster.

Now you can have skill numbers since I'm finally home.

flashbang -> RE: =DF= Guardian Discussion Thread (5/4/2015 23:01:54)

Wow. I can't think of anything I'd like to change from that Ash.

Break Eventide -> RE: =DF= Guardian Discussion Thread (5/4/2015 23:06:58)

While I will avoid touching the numbers, as honestly, DF is a nice, relaxing game with compelling story and fun classes, I will say that I truly enjoy the new Guardian. The art is beautiful, the offensive usage of a shield to bring home the concept is awesome, and the powerwalking makes me laugh every time. Plus, I always enjoy color-custom classes, because that means I can go through and find cool things to make an outfit out of. As far as the actual gameplay? The Guardian works. Offensive power, decent regens of both health and mana, the elementally-locked but thematically appropriate abilities... it all just feels like I'm playing a more streamlined version of AQ, almost.

Thanks Ash, and Cronix too, for the shiny!

Mystical Warrior -> RE: =DF= Guardian Discussion Thread (5/4/2015 23:31:17)

Looking at the actual numbers, I have to say that Guardian is just behind the borderline of being a Tier 3 class, since IIRC Guardian class is a step above Tier 2 because of you needing to be a Guardian in Adventure Quest.

@Ash just a little question though, is Guardian Rage really 14 hits? Cause I keep counting it as 15 hits, although its nothing big really. Also is the "Normal Attack" supposed to have a 120% modifier? I thought normal attacks on all classes is like 100% damage only, or is that due to the fact that the class needs real money in some way to be obtained?

flashbang -> RE: =DF= Guardian Discussion Thread (5/4/2015 23:37:05)

^A lot of classes have more then 100% attack damage on their regular attacks. But they mostly fall into Tier three, I think.

Break Eventide -> RE: =DF= Guardian Discussion Thread (5/4/2015 23:42:50)

I think the 120% could be just a a vague reference to the 'Beat It Down' strategy of most older AQ fights. Maybe it has to do with the "Special Offer" bonus. It could also be for balancing math-y reasons that I don't wish to take the time to hurt my brain calculating. Could be all of them, or it could be none... though I think the math DEFINITELY is involved somewhere.

"Math is EVIL!" -Sofist 2015

Chazero -> RE: =DF= Guardian Discussion Thread (5/5/2015 0:25:07)

So Ash, will the art bugs that a few others and I have reported be fixed by the time the class is fully released?
