I'd kinda hope that the revamp doesn't replace the old Ranger, but rather becomes a new class like Elite Ranger or something.
As a INT focused player I never played Ranger much, but it would be cool to have archery focused class that works with all buids.

shooting arrows VS shooting all kinds of magical things.
for me magix winz every time. so ranger never appealed to me. may be in a real time rpg it could have been better but here where range is useless, the class is also useless. and its too weak to do anything effectively. definitely on the bottom of my fav classes.

While I await the ranger update promised a few months back, I had created a rogue that always uses the ranger armor, and have been playing through the storyline.
I've reached the ice orb saga now, and have also finished ravenloss with it. It's still actually a really decent class!
Now to hope it can stand up to those Killy Willys...

Ranger and Deathknight have always been two of my favorite classes. I think they could a revamp most out of all the classes. They have cool themes, were fun to play, and just made you feel badass. Problem is, Deathknight just doesn't stack up anymore, especially when the DK gear gets to weak for your character. And Ranger has a lot of redundant class skills and not enough tactical flexibility (A problem with pretty much every class in the game, hoping they change some game mechanics to facilitate that). Although the thing that personally irritates me most, is that the Ranger's Accurate Shot skill seems to do no damage. Am I the only one who experiences this or is it a common bug? I searched the forum for hours and couldn't find a place to inquire about it or make complaints other than here.

^You can report it in the DragonFable Bug Tracker, but I think this is a common problem as I have it too. And as Ranger is probably going to be the next revamped class, it shouldn't be necessary to report the bugs of the old version.

Ahh, Ranger. This one was one of my favorites back in the day. Luckily, I had a chance to play it while the game was still in broken pre-9.0 form, and I could have a ton of stat points in DEX without giving anything up. Flurry and Purge+Dual Wield could wipe the floor with anything. :p I will admit that this class doesn't have the power to compete with more recent ones like SW, but if you compare it to its contemporaries (Necropolis classes, Pirate/Ninja) it's pretty sweet. Necromancer's the only one that soundly beats it, IMO. As for the revamp and where that might go, I would like to see it become a tactical/defensive class with a focus on multis, since the original ranger is the only class I know of with two fairly reliable multiattacks (Flurry and Multishot).

How about shooting magical arrows? :o You can fit a lot of weird stuff into a trick arrow. Exploding Magical Rubber ChickenCow Shot - Make it happen, staff! :D

Also, for anyone who doesn't want to trawl through all those DNs, here's our first (and only) look at the Ranger Revamp art. I think it looks fantastic. The only thing I'd change is the angle of the arrows in the quiver. They still look like they're lodged in our character's back. 0.o Even more so on the female version.

Any news on the revamp? The character I play has an archer theme and it's been 2 years since the revamp art has been released. (And the devs told us it is out soon.)

@ShimmerSoul I believe that this is a more recent ranger update. The arrows imply that we're pincushions, but the art more than makes up for it, in my opinion. More excited about the Ranger update than any other class I can recall, so however long it takes, I'll be delighted when it's released :D

Well the person doing the updated art for Ranger is a full time college volunteer. When we get it we get it. It looks pretty close to being done as of right now so art shouldn't take long to finish, then we have to wait for Verly to code it up and for the team to test it, so we will probably see it in a month or two.

The ranger class always seemed like a class that should have the most multi's, however the technomancer revamp is taking up that post. if it does get revamped soon, I hope it has more spammable multi skills than before.

I've been working on the Ranger concept for a while now. It's probably going to be one of the more involved class mechanics we've ever had, and if I balance it right, it should make you think more about how you itemize. As a note, the feel of Ranger that I'm going for (working within the animation set) is less of a long range sniper, and more of a kickbutt Lord of The Rings type ranger.

There will be an interplay between the melee and pierce type attacks, and the class will focus on momentum and snowballing if I can get the mechanics working and balanced properly.
