spornax20 -> RE: Vader's Gimp tut (11/8/2005 15:15:43)

Vader: Where can you get ready0made bg's for renders? what's a nice font for a sig? a general font for sigs.

Vader -> RE: Vader's Gimp tut (11/8/2005 21:32:17)

sup dude: its an unzip program, I'll give you the link to them in a second

Ninja: Click Open with Winzip or whatever you have

Spornax: Ready made bgs? I don't know what you're talking about on that one. But my advice on fonts is to use defaults, I like Arial Black and Verdana, simple fonts like that usually come out best, if you look at most pro sigs, they use defaults

This isn't a clan, so I really have no idea what you are trying to say

SufferMe -> RE: [GIMP] Vader's Tuts and Gimp Help (11/9/2005 16:24:28)

Never mind he got banned Thank god rofl

spornax20 -> RE: [GIMP] Vader's Tuts and Gimp Help (11/10/2005 10:34:06)

yeah, ready made BG's, my friend had downloaded them from the net, copy and paste. hey vader, whenever i download the abstract brush it doesn't come out like it used to look, is the brush converted to GIMP? oh and do you know any sites that has some really cool looking samurai renders in it? i kinda need for a clan sig.

Vader -> RE: [GIMP] Vader's Tuts and Gimp Help (11/10/2005 14:03:01)

for the brushes, start with a black bg, otherwise they will come out ugly and grey, so to start with it black just switch your background and foreground colors, (the black and white boxes)
as for the samurai render, this is all that I know of, but you can do a google search for samurai and render it yourself
and ready made bgs are just cheap, make em' yourself

Dabbleh -> RE: Vader's Gimp tut (11/11/2005 12:20:59)

After i've opened and a box comes up with gimp logos-Then what?

imatureflip22 -> RE: Vader's Gimp tut (11/11/2005 12:44:54)

ok im a noob at this sig thing, but im trying to learn[;)]
but one problem cutting out a render....
i did it so many times but i still dont get it..
anybody wanna help?

Vader -> RE: Vader's Gimp tut (11/11/2005 13:06:03)

Ninja: Drag the the brushes into your brushes folder, location of the folder is in the tut

imatureflip: For starters, just grab a render from www.planetrenders.net or anywhere else, look in the Ultimate Web Resource Guide for more, then use your magic wand and select black or white area and cut (Ctrl+X) then when you get more advanced you can use the link in the tuts

Rezu -> RE: Vader's Gimp tut (11/11/2005 13:09:45)

Hey, Vader. What more do you think I should do to my text? I seem to have trouble with that. Look at this example for what I mean.

Dabbleh -> RE: Vader's Gimp tut (11/12/2005 2:54:52)

Then after you've got them in the brush folder?

[image]http://img378.imageshack.us/img378/7739/strike42sa.jpg[/image]lol its rubbish REALLY!

Vader -> RE: Vader's Gimp tut (11/12/2005 11:08:47)

quote:

5. Open up Gimp and go to File>Dialogs>Brushes and click refresh brushes

Ninja: there you have it, it's all in the tut

Rezu: with text in Gimp, always select the box that says Antialising in the tool options, with that sig, I'd probably make the text black, but If you want color, one thing you could do is make a layer under your colored text and type the same thing in black, then move that layer 1 pixel down and one pixel right, to get a sort of outlined look, there's also alot of other stuff that you can do to the text, like you can use the underscore (I think that's what it's called, you know, this: ___) and drag it into your text to add a little style

Rezu -> RE: Vader's Gimp tut (11/12/2005 12:16:33)

Thank you. Yeah, it's underscore, and that, now that you say, would do well. Once again, Thankies.

Vader -> RE: Vader's Gimp tut (11/13/2005 11:57:45)

no problem ;]

nova 777 -> RE: Vader's Gimp tut (11/14/2005 14:52:29)

heres one i made in 5 mins, [image]http://i.1asphost.com/asdasdasdasd/deadpool.gif[/image]

Vader -> RE: Vader's Gimp tut (11/14/2005 15:53:11)

that's quite good nova, the bg and text are fine, but what you want to do is get a larger render and position it more toward the middle of your sig, otherwise you end up with alot of wasted space

Vee Kay -> RE: [GIMP] Vader's Tuts and Gimp Help (11/16/2005 3:32:36)

when i open a document, and i use the layer colour thingy, my brushes change colour, but my BG doesn't. how do i fix tat?

AnakinGFX -> RE: [GIMP] Vader's Tuts and Gimp Help (11/16/2005 9:45:18)

How do you set a gaussiun blur to light only for a shiny bg?

Vader -> RE: [GIMP] Vader's Tuts and Gimp Help (11/16/2005 16:02:35)

Vampragronkid: If the brushes are the only thing in your layer, they're the only thing that will be colored, I'd suggest starting with a Filters>Render>Clouds>Solid Noise and brushing over it

AnakinGX: Open up your layers dialog (Ctrl+L) and there will be a part above your layers that says Mode and next to that is a drop down menu that should currently say Normal, set that to Lighten Only

AnakinGFX -> RE: [GIMP] Vader's Tuts and Gimp Help (11/16/2005 18:37:52)

Thank Vader.
