Well this must be the first time I've posted in months but this topic has me interested so I'll try one.

You are in a pitch black room with nothing in it except one dresser full of socks. There are a total of 50 white socks and 50 black socks adding up to a total of 100. You have no way of making the room lighter and you can't leave the room until you have a pair of matching socks in your hands. What is the only way you can guarantee you have have a matching pair of socks in your hands?

spoiler:

Grab 3 socks.

Actually, grabbing that number of socks can't GUARANTEE you have a matching pair of socks. In fact, grabbing ALL of the socks in the drawer can't guarantee a matching pair, because without one's sensory perception, how do I even know there is a certain amount of each color of socks? I would just have to assume your conditions are fact, and faith is a very sensetive element of a riddle. Therefore, your riddle is flawed my good sir.

In addition to what galanoth above me has said,

spoiler:

grabbing three socks will not ensure a matching pair. What if you end up grabbing three of the same color? Only grabbing fifty-one socks will ensure escape.

Rightie,this is a riddle my parents posed me. Im working on it rite now, but I want to see what the forum can think up.Edit:Done.Its simple and awesome at the same time.
You have 2 bags. You have 100 bolts. You have to separate them so that there is 2 times more bolts in one bag than the other.You cant cut them.How do you do it?
Hint:Its something to do with bags. It would not work with cups for instance.

spoiler:

You put 50 bolts in one bag. 50 bolts in the other.Then you put one of the bags inside of the other one

Worst riddle anyone has ever told me.

A man is found in a phone booth with his wrists cut and the glass of the booth broken. Note that he did not have any suicidal thoughts. Why did he die?

spoiler:

He went to call a friend about his fishing trip and when extended the arms to "show" how big the fish was he broke the glass and cut the wrists >_<

These r kindof random and come from the back of my monsterology handbook, so if u have one, ur at an advantage. and most of these are in the form of poems, but they are riddles, and the poem form gives hints to the answers.

Beware of old one-eye,who walks on two legs of flesh and bone and arries on leg of wood in his two strong arms. what sort of monster is he?
spoiler:

a cyclops

this next one is a clasic, so if you don't know it, you've been living under a rock.

the riddle of the sphinx

what goes on four legs in the morning, two legs at midday, and three legs in the evening?
spoiler:

a person (crawls as a baby, walks on two legs as an adult, and uses a cane when old)

Gold she loves, in glonting chests;
rears her chicks in rocky nests
in tall mountains, so they say;
flies my night and resta by day.
Find her name, and tell me, pray.
Is every leter here a clue?
No, but the first will always do.
spoiler:

Griffin

my first is first in YEAR;
my socond is first in EAR;
my third is last in WORST;
and my last is second in FIRST.
High in the snow,'that's where I go.
What am I?
spoiler:

Yeti

My first syllable rhymes with SPRAT;
my second rhymes with FAN.
My third syllable rhymes with MISS-
just what do you think I am?
A city lost beneath the sea...
tell me now, what can I be?
spoiler:

Atlantis

I hope you like these and don't have too hard a time answering them, I hope to find some more and post them later on, till then, enjoy!

these only make sence if you're compleatly insain.

how many pncakes does it take to build a doghouse?
spoiler:

none, beczuse aligators can't fly

again, you have to be totally and compleatly insain to understand these.

you're going down the jetstream in a cunoe when your left tirre blows out, how many pancakes does it take to shingle the doghouse roof?
spoiler:

36 because icecream has no bones

one last time, you have to be TOTALLY AND COMPLEATLY INSAIN to get these, I get them, so if you don't understand them, just ask me to explain them, then hopefully you'll understand, if not, you know you're sain.
