I don't understand the logic in placing cutscenes in an entirely separate post.

For example, Planet 51. The "Intro Cutscene" occurs chronologically before any of the stuff in the first post of the entry. Likewise, Yokai.

My point is that Cutscenes are part of Missions. In AQ, we record Cutscenes as parts of Quests. In WF, we record Cutscenes as parts of Missions. In DF, we record Cutscenes as parts of Quests. Just because some part of a Mission/Quest has more motion than another part doesn't mean it should be placed somewhere that makes no chronological sense.

Furthermore, how does one distinguish a "cutscene" from regular old "dialogue" in a Mission? No matter what, you're still clicking to pass through screens and parts of dialogue.

By contrast, it makes perfect sense to place Super Twang and SwordFight in the Energy Blade 101 thread. Most people would probably think of the "SwordFight" Mission as the Energy Blade 101 Mission.

So, to sum up my suggestions: Get rid of these separate "Cutscene" posts and combine class posts into one thread.

I'm not opposed to putting the cutscenes in the first post with the dialogue. The current reason is to reduce the amount of text in the first first to make reading easier and better separate the dialogue changes, but I'll look into it.

However, I don't believe that putting the missions from the areas into the same thread just because they're in the same location and people associate them is a valid argument. Energy blade 101 is the area. Sword fight is the specific mission. All missions are separated from the areas.

I accept that.

However, can we please create some sort of standard for the "Objective" versus "Objective Completed"? The "Objective Completed" is the text in the box displayed at the completion of a quest, and the "Objective" is the text displayed in the bottom right corner of the screen when hovering over the Mission start. There are several inconsistencies in several places when it comes to this.

Those two missions are together likely because they occur randomly when pressing the Fight button on planet 51, and are 2 possibilities in that one mission.

Actually, the Missions Templates DO specify between Objective and Objective: Completed!

  • Usually I group missions in the same thread if they're accessible through the same button, like seventy two mentioned. Dialogue and Cutscenes are fairly flexible, but I actually prefer breaking them up to reduce clutter.

    No, they don't. The Template seems to specify that the Objective Completed IS the Objective, which it's not.

    And, golden, I have to ask how you distinguish a cutscene from dialogue.

    Ah, that's quite simple really. Dialogue is simply the speaker on your comm screen, where you just scroll through the next button. Cutscenes are where animation comes in, where the speakers actually move or the focus shifts to events outside of speechbubble land. Both have Next buttons, but they are very easy to tell apart. Dialogue usually comes at the beginning and end of the quest, while cutscenes usually come equipped with the old "10 years later" captions. ;)

    So, for example, when we're standing in an elevator with Warlic, that's not a cutscene. As soon as we shift to the action with Jemini, it is? That's just chronologically unsound. :P

    Also, since we're talking about MQ Pedia...

    No, it doesn't, actually. I put in the [/ul] tags and leave no space between them and the next line. For example:

    I write random text on this line.
    [ul]I write random text on this line.[/ul]I write more random text here.

    This ends up looking like this:

    I write random text on this line.
      I write random text on this line.
    I write more random text here.

    If you don't do that, and write like this instead:

    I write random text on this line.
    [ul]I write random text on this line.[/ul]
    I write more random text here.

    You get huge space.

    I write random text on this line.
      I write random text on this line.

    I write more random text here.

    And if you mean that certain parts get indented more than the rest, that's because they're sub-options of the original options, so they're supposed to get indented more. Unless there's something glaringly wrong that I didn't see when "Preview Post"-ing my submissions several times before I actually post, there's nothing wrong with what I'm submitting. :P

    So, for example, you may want to fix this thread again by deleting the line break between the [/ul] tags and the next lines.

    Also, I apologize for not line-breaking my [hr] tags. It's a bad habit-- makes sense when someone's just looking at the outcome of your post, but it's hard to read for someone looking at the code. XD Sorry.
