Master of Puppets Location: Atrea -> Left -> Yolande -> Quests -> Nightmares -> Quest! Requirements: Completion of Nightmares Release Date: May 15th, 2026 Objective: Wargoth has enslaved Xan! Will you be able to pull him out of his fortress for The Professor? Objective completed: You've managed to capture Xan and recover Veyla... but where has Wargoth gone...? Experience rewarded: Scaled Gold rewarded: Scaled Monsters (3) Fire Elemental (6) Fire Imp (2) Firebeetle (4) Flamedance (5) Flare Imp (3) Inferno Vector (7) Lava Glob (2) Lavagoblin (2) Sunwarrior (1) Bassault - Boss NPCs Alz'ein Etaos Konnan The Professor Veyla Wargoth Xan Rewards Magma Cowl (I-V) Dialogue Alz'ein & Etaos joins you as Guest A. Konnan joins you as Guest B. *In an isolated part of The Professor's hideout, Konnan has crafted his armor from the Dreamscape; you enter the scene to talk with him privately.* <Character>: Konnan. We need to talk. Konnan: ...Then talk. I'm listening. <Character>: About what happened in the Dreamscape... Konnan: ... Konnan: You don't trust me after that. <Character>: What happened there wasn't all your fault. Konnan: All my fault, huh? Figures. <Character>: I didn't say anything before because it wasn't the time for it, but I need you to know that I haven't forgiven you. Konnan: Wasn't hoping for it. <Character>: You enslaved civilians. You killed people. Burned down as many towns and villages as Akriloth. <Character>: You delivered the Fire Orb straight to Xan and Sepulchure, and enabled them to do so much worse. <Character>: We're working together out of necessity. Wargoth is the greater threat, but we are not friends. <Character>: You're right that you don't need my forgiveness. You need it from everyone else you've hurt in your quest for revenge. Konnan: ...I won't lie and say that part of me isn't glad that my actions caused you pain, however indirectly. Konnan: But that part of me is wrong. *Scene fades to black; scene then fades back in to show Drakonnan's armor has been washed ashore as Konnan removed it as a part of the flashback between the events of Book One Epilogue and present day; Konnan narrates throughout the flashback.* Konnan: After escaping Sepulchure's Fortress, I came to the Deadlands, alone. Not to seek forgiveness, but to atone through my actions. *Scene then transitions to a Deadlands forest, where multiple red eyes appear to Konnan; these red eyes signify the elementals.* Konnan: After the slaying of Akriloth and then the Darkness Dracolich... there's been a lot of trouble with elementals. Konnan: Dissonance. Konnan: I decided I would defend the distant borders of Battleon and the other settlements until my last breath. *Scene then transitions to a dark Deadlands forest near the present day location of The Professor's hideout, where Konnan fights multiple elementals with his sword.* Konnan: Then, one day, I met the Professor. *Scene then transitions to Konnan meeting The Professor.* The Professor: ...Who are you? Konnan: Call me... Konnan. The Professor: I wasn't asking for your name. I asked you who you are. Konnan: ... Konnan: I... Konnan: Let me help you. I can get you the materials you need. The Professor: Hmph. I can manage on my own, as I have up until now. Konnan: If Wargoth is as big of a threat as you say, I'd be more than satisfied if I could help you stop him. The Professor: You want to throw your life away fighting a being stronger than you could imagine? Konnan: ... The Professor: Your life is not worthless. But if this is how you want to atone for your evils, who am I to deny you... The Professor: ...Apprentice? *Scene then transitions back to the present day as Konnan has finished retelling the events of how met The Professor.* Konnan: If I can help the Professor and protect everyone from Wargoth... Well... Konnan: Either way, they don't have to know it was me. Konnan: I am not looking for redemption. Konnan: Let me exist in their minds as a story, a warning. A monster. <Character>: You're too afraid to face justice, so you're punishing yourself. Konnan: You're the hero. I never said I was brave. <Character>: ...I'll let you finish preparing. *You leave the scene.* Konnan: ... *In the meeting room of The Professor's hideout, you meet with your dragon, Etaos, and Alz'ein; they appear to be almost ready to find Xan.* Etaos: Feel better now? <Character>: I think so. Konnan knows what he wants, and so do I. <Character>: And after we're done dealing with Wargoth, we want nothing to do with each other. Alz'ein: Ha! I get that. Alz'ein: I can empathize with him, though. Losing control, going too far... Sometimes you want to feel anything but grief. <Character>: ...Yeah. I know what you mean. <Dragon>: ... | *Thoughtful glance* *Scene pans right to focus on Konnan, who is now wearing his Dreamscape armor.* Konnan: Well? Are you all ready? *Scene fades to black; elsewhere, in complete darkness, Wargoth has noticed that the intrusions from his mind are gone.* Wargoth: The constant intrusions are gone... *Wargoth is sitting on Xan's throne in Xan's volcano fortress, looking at the controlled Veyla.* Wargoth: But I can still sense him out there... *Scene splits with Wargoth on the left and The Professor on the right; The Professor is in his hideout; they are talking to themselves.* The Professor: I thought cutting off Wargoth would bring me peace... Wargoth: Is he watching? Is he listening? What is he planning...? The Professor: But now there is an emptiness I cannot describe... How are we so connected? Wargoth: I will find him. I will sift through the ashes of this world to find him, and wring the answers out of him. The Professor: ... *Scene focuses on The Professor, who is troubled from the revelations relating not only to himself, but Wargoth.* The Professor: ...If there is more to this connection than I originally thought... I wonder... *The Professor raises his head; scene returns to Wargoth, who is thinking of killing The Professor.* Wargoth: But... which one of my pets should I send to hunt him? *Scene then returns with Wargoth on the left and The Professor on the right.* The Professor: What does this mean about my existence...? Why did I awaken on Somorah? The Professor: There are too many coincidences. I must consult with the Ateala. Maybe their Empress can breathe light into the truth I dare not think. *Scene then focuses on Wargoth; Xan arises from the arena at Wargoth's command.* Wargoth: Ahh, you are an interesting specimen... *Scene pans on Xan.* Wargoth: ...The fire that engulfs you also keeps you alive. How... evil. Wargoth: Every lick of flame must be agony for you. Wargoth: You love it as much as you hate it though... don't you? Wargoth: The power you wield... everything that makes you... is borne of hate though, isn't it? Wargoth: Even my minions seem to enrage you. *Wargoth unleashes Fire Imps onto Xan; Xan falls back into the arena.* Wargoth: Yet your anger fuels you. You ache for revenge... for the power to do something beyond childish pranks. *Xan has arisen again; Veyla arises from the arena at Wargoth's command.* Wargoth: She is broken. Wargoth: She thought she had escaped... but I control the fire within her, just as I control the fire within you. Wargoth: I look forward to breaking you. *Xan and Veyla fall back into the arena; Xan attacks Wargoth with a fireball, but the attack doesn't faze him; scene focuses on Wargoth.* Wargoth: Do you think a simple country mage has the power to defeat me? Wargoth: Even the cursed power that you wield now was given to you by another, wasn't it? *Scene focuses on Veyla.* Wargoth: Veyla, my pet... Wargoth: ...give our country bumpkin something to fight against. *Wargoth's gauntlet crackles with energy, which controls Veyla to attack Xan.* Veyla: Y–yes... *You and your allies are now in Xan's volcano fortress; you fight various fire monsters to find Xan.* <Character>: I don't think I've actually gone in the front entrance before... Hm, where do we go from here?, Konnan: From what I remember, it's a big ring through the volcano. We're bound to find Xan somewhere in here if we just keep going. Alz'ein: We'll just have to pick a path and go., Etaos: I'm not sensing Wargoth's presence. I don't know if that's good or bad... Alz'ein: There's a bridge across the lava over there... Seems important. Could Xan be over there? Upon encountering the Western Door: Konnan: That's a storeroom. I think the key was kept past an illusory wall and several timed mechanisms that you had to use to jump across the lava. Upon lockpicking the Western Door (see other information): Konnan: ...Yeah, this might be faster. Easier, for sure. Upon entering the Western Door: Konnan: ...There were a lot more supplies when I was here. Maybe there's something left to scrounge up? Upon encountering the Eastern Door: Etaos: Hm, could there be something useful behind that door? ...Do we have the time to check? Upon lockpicking the Eastern Door (see other information): Etaos: While I can untangle the chains of the mind, I'm afraid such mundane mechanisms are beyond my ability. Upon entering the Eastern Door: Alz'ein: Ooh! A healing pad! We didn't have those on Somorah! I tried one in Falconreach. It was kind of tingly. Upon encountering the North-Eastern Door: Alz'ein: Hm. Think Xan might be hiding behind that door? Maybe you should knock. Or I could try smashing it down. Upon lockpicking the the North-Eastern Door (see other information): Alz'ein: What are you— Oh. I guess that works too. Aren't we in a hurry, though? Upon entering the North-Eastern Door: <Character>: That's the girl we saw in the dream... We were right. Xan definitely knows something., Etaos: It can't be a coincidence that she's connected to Xan, Wargoth, and the Professor. What's going on here? <Character>: Something feels off. Xan should have noticed we were in his fortress by now., Konnan: The throneroom and arena are down that way. I can still smell the flames... My scars... *Eventually, you and your allies find Xan and Veyla in the arena, who are unconscious.* Alz'ein: Veyla! *You and your allies enter the scene; you and Alz'ein check on Veyla while Konnan, your dragon, and Etaos check on Xan.* Alz'ein: It's Veyla...! She's still breathing... but barely... <Character>: She looks like she's been through a lot... What happened here? Alz'ein: I'll carry her. She'll be fine. She'll be okay. I'm here, Veyla. Etaos: And this is Xan? Konnan: Yeah. I've never seen him so... burnt out... Konnan: I'd almost pity him if I didn't want to just kick him into the lava. <Character>: I get it, but the last time we tried that, he turned into a giant monster. Maybe we can find a puddle of water on the way back. <Dragon>: I'll bite him for you! | *Angry grumble!* <Character>: Do you think Wargoth did this to them? He must have, if Veyla's here... but then... where is he now? *Your dragon bites Xan.* Xan: Urghh... <Character>: Alz'ein has Veyla, Konnan, can you carry Xan? Konnan: Yeah. I got him. <Character>: It's a long way back to the hideout. We'll just have to hope Wargoth is preoccupied somewhere else... <Character>: And that Xan's willing to cooperate when he wakes up. Etaos: I'm sure we'll seem like his best friends compared to whatever Wargoth did to him. <Character>: ...I don't think you—, Konnan: ...That's not really— Etaos: I am joking. Sorry. Alz'ein: Let's go already! The sooner we get back to Isiri and the others the safer we'll be. *Scene fades to black.* Complete Quest Other information Lock pick solutions and contents: spoiler:
