I can feel the warmth of the stars on you. Yet you are not Ateala. <Character>: ... Konnan: ... Wargoth: Amusing. Wargoth: Ever since I came into being, my thoughts have constantly been invaded by that... insect. <Character> (thinking): Since he came into being...? I thought Wargoth had attacked the Ateala once before in the distant past. <Character> (thinking): The Professor isn't that old... is he? Wargoth: I know you have dealings with the surviving Ateala. I know you are denizens of this world. Konnan: Say... nothing. <Character>: You don't need to tell me that! *Wargoth moves his head to face you and Konnan.* Wargoth: I know the fire that burns within your souls. Konnan: S-stop! You don't know me! <Character>: Konnan?! Konnan: He's... He's doing something to my thoughts... Wargoth: Do you think you have any power here, you pests? Wargoth: It is the sanctity of my mind you're invading. You're nothing more than puppets on strings for me. *Wargoth glows as he prepares to play around with Konnan.* <Character>: This was such a great idea. Konnan: Brace yourself, <Character>. He's going to try to— *Wargoth makes Konnan hover in the air; Konnan faces Wargoth.* Wargoth: Such a weak little flame in this one. *Wargoth telepathically shakes Konnan.* Konnan: *Hgrk* Wargoth: Pathetic! *Wargoth telepathically drops Konnan down.* <Character>: !!! *Wargoth telepathically throws Konnan at you.* Wargoth: HA HA HA! In this realm, I can do as I please! *Wargoth telepathically makes Konnan hit you.* Wargoth: Stop hitting yourself, stop hitting yourself, stop hitting your— HahahahaHAHAHA! <Character>: Hold on, Konnan, we'll find a way out of this! *Wargoth starts to show his influence as fires appear around him.* Wargoth: No one can stand against ME! *As you and Konnan rush at Wargoth, he strikes back with fire at them.* Wargoth: You think my fiery armies brought pain on Somorah? Wargoth: You know nothing of the pain I will bring to Lore. *Wargoth moves his head to face you and Konnan.* Wargoth: The fire within you is meager, but I can read it all the same. *Scene shifts to focus on you and Konnan; Konnan is on his knees following Wargoth's attack.* Wargoth: What keeps you fighting, <Character>? <Character>: ... Wargoth: What makes you rage against the scraps of your subconscious, Konnan? *There is a brief pause after Wargoth's question to Konnan as Konnan moves his head to face Wargoth.* Konnan: ... *Scene shifts to focus on Wargoth as he asks why you and Konnan are working together.* Wargoth: What makes you two... fight together? Wargoth: Have you really let go of your past? *Konnan is standing again as he readies his spear.* Konnan: ... <Character>: You're the greater threat. We won't stop until Lore is safe. *Wargoth then focuses on Konnan, hoping that his manipulation will influence him.* Wargoth: You've restrained your emotions. Reinvented yourself. Wargoth: And all for what? *Konnan moves his head to face Wargoth.* Wargoth: Konnan. I know what <Character> did to you... Wargoth: Your whole family. Decimated. *Konnan closes his eyes as he remembers his family's death from Akriloth.* Konnan: I-- Wargoth: Can you still hear their screams? Konnan: No... No! It wasn't like that! Wargoth: Did you really believe you could be forgiven? Wargoth: What does <Character> feel towards you that <he has/she has/they have>n't said? Resentment? Apathy? Disgust? <Character>: You have to resist him, Konnan! *Your words to Konnan proved all for naught as he does not resist Wargoth's manipulation.* Wargoth: Why was your own family less important, Konnan? *Now fully influenced by Wargoth, Konnan now turns against you.* Konnan: You... *Konnan readies his spear as tears come out from his eyes.* Konnan: How could you? <Character>: Konnan, don't! He's in your mind! Konnan: SILENCE! *Konnan then approaches you.* Battle! - begins battle with [link=]Konnan[/link]. Heal - fully replenishes HP, MP, and potions. Run Away! - returns to Atrea. *Konnan falls to his knees upon his defeat; Wargoth is disappointed.* Wargoth: Is that all your feeble flame can handle? How disappointing. Wargoth: How worthless. That Professor can't hide from me forever. Maybe if I fry his pets myself... *Wargoth unleashes a massive firestorm at you and Konnan; both of them try to defend his attack; suddenly, help arrives from the Ateala and a starry, mysterious voice offscreen; this mysterious voice turns out to be The Empress.* The Empress: Hold on. Aid is on the way. Nirios: There you are! Isiri was right! <Character>: Nirios? Get us out, now! Nirios: We're on it! Hold on just a moment! Wargoth: Flee! Run away, insects. I know your fire now. And you will burn with the rest of this pathetic world! *Thanks to the Ateala, you and Konnan are now teleported from the Dreamscape; this enrages Wargoth.* Wargoth: You will burn! *Scene fades to black, except for Wargoth's orange eyes before eventually fading back to black completely; scene then fades back in as you and Konnan are back in The Professor's cave, where you meet back with your dragon, the Ateala, and The Professor; Konnan can be seen covering his face with his hands as he was forced to relieve his trauma.* Isiri: You... You made it. ...Good. <Dragon>: You're okay! You're awake! | *Relieved roar!* <Character>: Are you all okay? It was like Wargoth cut us off from you! Nirios: That's exactly what happened. After you placed the last stake, it was like a firestorm blocked you out of our perception. Etaos: We knew it had to be Wargoth. Isiri tried all she could to pierce the flames of his mind, but it was just too much. <Character>: Then how did you get us out? Isiri: ...The Empress intervened. It... was a risk. If Wargoth had sensed her presence... Alz'ein: At least you managed to get the stakes in and wall off the Professor's mind. <Character>: Yeah... But Konnan... Konnan: ... <Character>: When we were in there, Wargoth did something to him. To his mind. The Professor: Apprentice? What did he do to you? Konnan: I thought... I thought I was over it. I thought I could stop thinking about what happened. Konnan: But Wargoth brought it all back out of me. Konnan: The way my scars burned... I... I'm sorry, <Character>. <Character>: I know this wasn't your fault. Wargoth hit you where it hurt most. Konnan: I know. I know. But I can't help but be afraid. As Drakonnan I did the unforgivable. If Wargoth could bring that side of me out... Konnan: I hoped serving under my master would help atone for what I've done. Konnan: But I don't know if I can ever truly atone if I can never fully abandon my rage and anger. The Professor: Enough, Konnan. Rest. The Professor: Your scars and mistakes are part of you, but you are strong enough to not let them control you. The Professor: Wargoth preyed on your weakness, and you survived. You will be better prepared for the next encounter. The Professor: You have capacity for great evil. But also the strength to do good. The Professor: Though you have a long road ahead of you, as your master, I trust in that strength. The Professor: So, the mission was a success, but did you learn anything new about Wargoth? <Character>: It's hard to say for sure, but when we were exploring the dream, Konnan and I saw flashes of faces and people. *Flashes of Xan and Warlic appear briefly.* <Character>: Some people I recognized, like Xan, and Warlic. *Flashes of a blue haired woman and a blue haired man appear briefly.* <Character>: But there were others I didn't. A woman and a man. The Professor: The man is Alex. The woman is... Jaania. The Professor: These names are seared into my mind... but I know nothing else. Nirios: When minds clash, feelings and thoughts can sometimes cross. Nirios: Perhaps these people are important to Wargoth, in some way. The Professor: ...Maybe... <Character>: But then, why Xan and Warlic? Warlic has to be the key to this. But how? What did he get himself into? <Character>: And Xan... He's a mad pyromancer who hated Warlic... <Character>: A pyromancer... <Character>: You don't think Wargoth got ahold of him? Konnan: He's literally always on fire. If Wargoth got to me that easily, I don't think he'd stand a chance. <Character>: Then we have to find him! I know where his volcano fortress is. We can start there. <Character>: He might be able to tell us more about Warlic if we aren't too late. The Professor: The more you say those names... Xan... Warlic... The Professor: I remember nothing, I see only fog and hear only sparks, but there is something there... *The Professor moves briefly as he slowly remembers about himself.* Nirios: Alz'ein, Etaos. Go with <Character> and Konnan to find this "Xan". Nirios: I'll stay with Isiri and see if I can help the Professor untangle his mind. The Professor: Yes. Thank you... <Dragon>: I believe in you, old guy! | *Cheerful chirp!* <Character>: We should get going, then. Konnan, are you ready? Konnan: ...Will you be safe, master? The Professor: You trusted the Ateala to get you out of the dream, apprentice. You can trust them to protect me. Konnan: ...Yeah. Okay. I'm ready, <Character>. Let's go find Xan. *Scene fades to black.* Complete Quest Loot for DCs - opens [link=]NMs Loot for DCs[/link] shop.
