nolraitru -> RE: Black Rose Cafe [Archived] (1/26/2009 23:25:43)

Close to never. I've been busy with real life and the likes.

I still tag here and there, I just don't ever feel they're good enough to really show them to anyone else.
So I just keep them to myself.

not steve -> RE: Black Rose Cafe [Archived] (1/27/2009 11:08:41)

i usualy update once or twice per week. sometimes more, i try not to make it less.

Dragon. -> RE: Black Rose Cafe [Archived] (1/27/2009 14:58:28)

How often do you update your gallery?

I probably update too often....

oh about once a month >.> <.< >.<

infact the last time it was updated was like late december >.<

infact i think i've given up art. ever since my former mentor moved to italy i just havn't had the drive[:(]
that and everytime I look at someone elses stuff, and compare it to mine ime like D: because I am just plain terrible compared to everyone else here (lack of perserviance and spelling skills ftl.....0

kayos25 -> RE: Black Rose Cafe [Archived] (2/5/2009 12:32:17)

I update every time I have a new piece of artwork. This can vary between a few days to a few weeks. Not normally longer than that.

DragonYugi -> RE: Black Rose Cafe [Archived] (2/5/2009 12:47:45)

I haven't updated in like.. woooooohooooo!! A looooooong time >.>

kayos25 -> RE: Black Rose Cafe [Archived] (2/7/2009 11:39:47)

I can post a new topic now can't I?
How do you normally start a piece of art?
I use a black and white gradient and then start rendering stuff, putting stuff on top, text etc. (It's in PDN what I'm talking about [:)])

Zero Hex -> RE: Black Rose Cafe [Archived] (2/7/2009 13:13:10)

I get an idea in my head. Sketch it out on some paper. Choose my medium. Then work from there. :D

DragonYugi -> RE: Black Rose Cafe [Archived] (2/7/2009 18:28:56)

For Pivot - Put a stick in the middle of the page, then going outside to relax and think about a storyline for the animation, come back and HELL UNLEASHED!!!
For Others - White page xD

Reni -> RE: Black Rose Cafe [Archived] (2/7/2009 19:00:54)

moi? depends on what i am doing, but lets take armors:
1) Think of an armor name that would be worthwhile and hasn't been designed by AE yet.(viking, Chaoslord, etc..)
2) Draw some concept art to get a feel for what the armor would look like.
3) Draw the final pencil sketch.
4) Scan.
5) Put a pic of the scan in flash, and trace over it, fixing any errors in proportion, etc, along the way.
6) Color.
7) Shade.
And voila. You have an *allegedly* good quality armor. :P

Tomix -> RE: Black Rose Cafe [Archived] (2/8/2009 3:39:43)

1. Inspiration/idea
2. Sketching on paper,
3. Scanning,
4. Opening Photoshop/Flash,
5. Drawing/vectorizing on top layer, sketch on layer below,
6. Base colors,
7. I don't like previous base colors, trying another base colors :p
8. Shading
9. Finishing the piece

Your topic was "How do you normally start a piece of art?", so you can just look on the first 2 :D

lamaman123456789 -> RE: Black Rose Cafe [Archived] (2/8/2009 7:43:32)

well first i say Hi to Tomix^^ and then i just take a render think about what would go with it and then i just throw it on there

The Virtual Reality -> RE: Black Rose Cafe [Archived] (2/9/2009 15:11:25)

I hardly ever start the same way each time. I feel it causes me to have a serious block in inspiration and creativity. I'll often fiddle around with sizes until I find something that seems appropriate and go from there.

TheShadowed1 -> RE: Black Rose Cafe [Archived] (2/9/2009 16:55:19)

get comfy
assemble a playlist just for the piece
crank it up
maybe have a smoke
find stocks
create color pallete
line work
coloring
shading
fin

unless it's a tag, which is jsut a bunch of fillying around

Severin -> RE: Black Rose Cafe [Archived] (2/9/2009 17:27:55)

I usually start after coming up with a good idea. Most of the time I don't use the idea right away, but put it on a list of things I should do. Once I do decide what to do though, I start with a basic sketch, then move on to details/colours/etc. It really depends on what kind of art I am doing though.

SufferMe -> RE: Black Rose Cafe [Archived] (2/9/2009 18:58:13)

i wait till im bored
get some music on
bust me a photoshop groove.

.Shadow// -> RE: Black Rose Cafe [Archived] (2/9/2009 23:13:50)

First I get an idea, then I procrastinate for a few days.
Then I do it.

illusion99 -> RE: Black Rose Cafe [Archived] (2/11/2009 4:10:14)

Well first I draw it on paper then try to recreate it or make (i dunno which word is correct) in photoshop since i don't have a scanner

The Fade -> RE: Black Rose Cafe [Archived] (2/12/2009 19:50:38)

sit down
listen to music
have an idea
attempt it
fail
scrap it
rinse and repeat every couple of weeks until i have a piece!

illusion99 -> RE: Black Rose Cafe [Archived] (2/14/2009 5:27:17)

quote:

:D Read illusion's post above ya :D
And the answer for the question is... *drums* Probably not :D

Reni -> RE: Black Rose Cafe [Archived] (2/16/2009 10:41:41)

Over 24 hours, so...:P
As an artist, are there any elements of the type of art you do that you feel you are not stable on? You know, your Achilles Heel as an artist? Do you try to solve these problems, or inventively find ways to avoid them?

Mo -> RE: Black Rose Cafe [Archived] (2/16/2009 11:04:39)

prolly drawing or vector right now

Nickwright -> RE: Black Rose Cafe [Archived] (2/16/2009 11:27:50)

Hah, do I ever, Honestly I can't animate worth anything XD

I constantly avoid the subject =p

I make up for it with shading and lineart >.<; Trying to hide it XD
