Lkeas. I figured out why your answer came out wrong.

The correct roman numerals are 167, not 157.

CLCVII

putting this into google search=167

Coldkick -> RE: =WF= A Final Mystery part II (7/20/2009 9:08:33)

DNW. It auto corrected it to say CLXVII.

I think its actually 157 [8|]

Whoops typo

mluther -> RE: =WF= A Final Mystery part II (7/20/2009 9:24:17)

actually I'm pretty sure it was established that it was 157 quiet awhile ago, I'll look for a quote.

back on page 4 kirby posted
quote:

C > L < C > V > I = I
C + (C-L) + V + I + I
100+(100-50)+5+1+1
157

eldron said he was right.

Dragonnightwolf -> RE: =WF= A Final Mystery part II (7/20/2009 10:21:21)

good catch CK.

I won't be around a computer today I don't think. At least not until after um. six pm general mountain time.
Due to being at a pre-scheduled appointment.

goron link8 -> RE: =WF= A Final Mystery part II (7/20/2009 10:37:27)

The Amada cannot not be allowed to find what it seeks

spoiler:

Admiral Amada's son was killed in an attempt to protect lore from meteors heading right at it
he swore he would find the source of the meteors and we did

murdering zealot -> RE: =WF= A Final Mystery part II (7/20/2009 11:25:58)

i think the code really must be 157 with the enigma simulator.

Aaronrules380 -> RE: =WF= A Final Mystery part II (7/20/2009 14:16:26)

I think the count back from 4 clue was as guessed earlier, the ring position so itd be 4 3 2. the only thing I'm unsure of is what they key could be

Krayola -> RE: =WF= A Final Mystery part II (7/20/2009 14:25:52)

The can't back from four clue was most likely to count back four post to show that lkeas was right.

Aaronrules380 -> RE: =WF= A Final Mystery part II (7/20/2009 14:28:38)

ah never mind then

Krayola -> RE: =WF= A Final Mystery part II (7/20/2009 14:52:36)

Was the plug board used? It seemed as if the answer was it was not used for puzzle two from what eldron said. (obviously)

Dragonnightwolf -> RE: =WF= A Final Mystery part II (7/20/2009 16:44:17)

somehow I don't get the feeling that going back from four referred to lkeas earlier post.

perhaps taking 4 from 157 which would equal 153.

And no the plug board as far as I understand had not been used.

Aaronrules380 -> RE: =WF= A Final Mystery part II (7/20/2009 16:55:49)

No, the wheel order is defintely 1 5 7. If you look back at the questions I asked if the wheel order(well I used the german word but still) was 157. Fal and eldron said it was, so obviously that part is right

Vivi -> RE: =WF= A Final Mystery part II (7/20/2009 20:53:16)

Just a thought, but is the "o'rly" in that image Fal posted relevant? In the conversation he had with Eldron on IRC he noted that the interwebz does funny things to owls...it might have something to do with rotor positions or the Ringstellung.

Tsk, a shame. I used "rly" for the ringstellung and got LAN as a key when I used the "SEE OWL" thing, I thought I had it but it still comes out as gibberish >.< I'm curious to know if there's another step or not, if there isn't I'm lost for a ringstellung position or a trigram.

darkforcebomber1 -> RE: =WF= A Final Mystery part II (7/20/2009 22:37:37)

the o'rly could be there to put us off.

Lord Asrius -> RE: =WF= A Final Mystery part II (7/21/2009 0:52:11)

I'm pretty sure he was just having a laugh at us.
I'm just sad this computer doesn't have room for the simulator. D: And my other computer is currently indisposed.

Necrotix -> RE: =WF= A Final Mystery part II (7/21/2009 6:52:13)

What are we up to.I'm currently reading up on the Enigma from the instructions.

Issa -> RE: =WF= A Final Mystery part II (7/21/2009 9:50:12)

Right guys, I'm available to help for around an hour. How are we doing, what are we on?

Lord Asrius -> RE: =WF= A Final Mystery part II (7/21/2009 14:51:56)

If you're able to download the Enigma simulator, then do so. Play around with 157, SEE OWL and such things. Also the rings are 432.

Vivi -> RE: =WF= A Final Mystery part II (7/21/2009 15:40:22)

I think the "count back from 4" clue was just to say Lkeas was on the right track...

In the original puzzle Eldron notes that codes are not the network's strong "suite"...a suite could mean "a set of musical pieces considered as one composition" according to wikipedia, I wonder if there are any suites relating to owls that could give us two trigrams.

Eldron -> RE: =WF= A Final Mystery part II (7/21/2009 16:27:22)

Just a random thought, assuming the rings are 157, then the key has to be 3 letters since you only have 3 rings to set.

Just a thought.

Aaronrules380 -> RE: =WF= A Final Mystery part II (7/21/2009 16:41:39)

but wasn't 157 the wheel order? Unless it's both and we have a totally wrong key of course, since owl doesn't work

Coldkick -> RE: =WF= A Final Mystery part II (7/21/2009 16:44:24)

Maybe 157 is a two way clue. the rotors to use as well as the positions to set them in before putting in the key.

Lkeas -> RE: =WF= A Final Mystery part II (7/21/2009 16:49:39)

Right, we know the key is only 3 letters, but what I had asked previously was whether we had to do the standard decryption to find the key. Meaning two sets of trigrams, set the Enigma machine to the first trigram, type in the second trigram to get the 3-letter key. Or is the key just "OWL" and forget the whole trigram thing? Because that doesn't seem to work either...

Necrotix -> RE: =WF= A Final Mystery part II (7/21/2009 19:23:37)

I changed 157.It changes to AEG.I get this but I can't seem to understand how this decrypts messages.

Lord Asrius -> RE: =WF= A Final Mystery part II (7/21/2009 19:23:50)

Did we try SEA?
