^Because no other game had this its a bad thing? Also because people have different playstyles that they were used to and made the game fun for them and they are not viable now they should not be upset? Its to be expected that there will be negative feedback you can not please all but it does not mean that the ones not pleased can not try to make their opinion heard.

Try deathknight and icebound revenant. They feel like warrior class.

If only it was not black and undead.[:D] Warrior is just so awesome with it simplicity that it surpasses all in my opinion.
quote:

If you checked my post at page 7 you'll see that I listed the base classes as buffed. While it is just my opinion I feel they're buffed because of the parry/dodge/block buff mainly. You miss the damage you had back then? Simple go full STR and Luck and you'll get something similar to the old times. Warrior can afford it, the base classes doesn't require wisdom.

Lets put it this way try fighting Dr When with all base classes and you will see what I mean and do your best, actually try fighting all bosses that are not before Dr When if you want.

Dude that's a personal restriction set by you. If you don't wanna loose then attempt to use a tier 2 or 3 class. If I think Angler is the coolest class in the game I'm not going to complain about how it's weaker than everything. Hell, I don't even think Warrior or DragonWarrior has been weakened at all ._. Maybe you just need to change your stats around a bit?

The Hollow Soul -> RE: =DF= Version 14.0.1 (2/26/2015 14:39:08)

The team has explained why Dr. When is as tough as he is. He's considered the second to last boss of all of book one and they wanted someone challenging. The fact that base classes have a hard time beating him isn't an issue since by that point in the story, if you follow orb by orb you have 8 other classes to change to. (not even including DC classes, special offer, or side storyline classes) Most of which can hold their own to Dr. When.

I got Dr. When down to about 2050 hp before he got the upper hand on me. That's including in the fact that I handicapped myself with my very underleveled non-da items, didn't have a necklace or ring item, and didn't use a trinket. If I were to actually find good non-DA items, had all the items, a useful trinket, and have my stats trained better for warrior, I probably would have lasted longer.

It's like playing any other game, you out grow your old items and have to change equipment. I'm not running through Super Mario RPG or Final Fantasy with the starter equipment when I'm fighting high end monsters, I'm changing as the game around me changes. The fact that DF is now trying to actually be like a RPG and makes you think before you go into battle isn't that big of an issue. If you're dead set on warrior being your favorite, then like said above, that's a self imposed handicap against really hard bosses, warrior can handle everything else in this game but it'll require a tad bit more thinking instead of using final and OHKOing everything. The fact that Dr. When is the first boss I lost to with Warrior after running through 8-9 quests shows that it's still strong enough to be played with. I'd be agreeing with you if say warrior couldn't beat bosses like Noxus, Z, Davey, Aisha, Drakonnan, and etc.

I see your Dr. When and I add a Mana Crest

And I'm not using my pet dragon so I'm not doing my best.

Edit: Btw dr. When is going to get a nerf. I believe in his total hp.

Not a crazy amount, but yes some HP reduction. ~Ash

Edit 2: Yes dr when has over 3k bonus. But I remember back then that he has about 320 bonus.

ga00270 -> RE: =DF= Version 14.0.1 (2/26/2015 15:17:47)

when we can save the reavant icebound as initial class?

Mr G W -> RE: =DF= Version 14.0.1 (2/26/2015 15:23:47)

I like this change A LOT for the following reasons:

- Critical hits are rarer than normal hits now. It never really made sense that critical hits were MORE common than non-critical hits.
Critical hits are supposed to be that rare, big hit that makes you go WHOA. Before they didn't feel valuable. They were far too common and taken for granted. Critical hits feel special and valuable once more.

- The buffed stats allow new combinations and more viable setups, each with their own advantages and disadvantages. You now have to make choices instead of "this is the best setup because all other stats are garbage". Having to make choices is the key to a balanced game.

- The WIS nerf further enforces the player to make choices. It is no longer a limitless resource, so more planning is required on skill usage.
Auto attacks and weapons specials will play a bigger role if you wish to conserve your now limited MP.
Again, it falls down to making choices, adding more strategy which is what a balanced RPG is about.

This was really overdue as we on one hand had power creep due to absurdly overpowered stats (criticals) and on other hand we had devalued content because LUK/CHA were useless.

Alm Nullamors -> RE: =DF= Version 14.0.1 (2/26/2015 15:45:25)

@ga00270

You can use the Orb of Saving for any class not in the closet. I did that with Riftwalker early on.

Zork Knight -> RE: =DF= Version 14.0.1 (2/26/2015 16:36:55)

Orb of Saving/Armor Closet can't save Icebound Revenant, nor any other ~recent classes.

When you have time and if you want can you show me the amount of bonus doctor when has mine showed to be over 3k. The reason I asked you this it show you the difference between the base classes but I will prove it myself now that the internet is faster.

i think it was 3200 but 4 digits were too much to show so it normally just showed the first 3

ProstheticFate -> RE: =DF= Version 14.0.1 (2/26/2015 18:25:36)

I personally like the stat change.

The crit nerf, I was not bothered by that. I really like now with the changes to LUK and CHA, people can be more diverse with their builds. WIS was unexpected but nonetheless now it has more value rather than being a dump stat where you only needed to put like 50 or 30 into it. Even with the changes my build still almost the same except had to split some END points into WIS. As a benchmark for my Death Knight build it at least still beats Davey in melt face mode (no hard mode btw), also had no points into main damage stats since before the changes since the extra damage loss never bothered me.

Also like the change to the stat point progression to STR,INT and DEX because the breakpoints got pretty big to the point you needed an extra 20 into like STR to gain the next point of increase damage.

Jovan -> RE: =DF= Version 14.0.1 (2/26/2015 18:33:41)

I agree that the stat adjustments were quite necessary. In reference to the GUI, however, I am extremely disappointed and confused that we are no longer able to see item previews. Why was this feature taken away?

San Robin -> RE: =DF= Version 14.0.1 (2/26/2015 18:35:23)

@Jovan, it wasn't removed at all.
It should still be there above the item screen.

Jovan -> RE: =DF= Version 14.0.1 (2/26/2015 18:37:59)

Oh I see now. The subdued coloring made me totally overlook the button. I'll get used to it.

Jovan -> RE: =DF= Version 14.0.1 (2/26/2015 21:58:42)

Whenever you level up, you get skill points. You can spend these skill points to increase your 7 main stats: Str, Dex, Int, End, Wis, Cha, and Luk. There are also numerous secondary stats.
You can gain bonuses to your main and secondary stats by equipping gear and weapons. Before the update, some of these stats were nigh-useless (like Cha and Luk), or too
powerful (like Crit). If you go to the front page you will find a very good explanation of what these stats do now.

garrigaisaac -> RE: =DF= Version 14.0.1 (2/26/2015 22:53:38)

Really loving all these changes. Stopped playing DF for a while because the battles were brain dead boring to me after i reached lv. 80 DF is fun and all but I hope I don't get addicted again with the game again. x.x great updates tho. have no problems

Chazero -> RE: =DF= Version 14.0.1 (2/27/2015 6:15:56)

@garrigaisaac
Since your base class is Warrior, the stats you should be focusing on are STR, END, WIS. You could also replace END with LUK in order to dish out more damage but having less HP. Basically, you'll be a glass cannon.

How you distribute your stat points depends on your playstyle. I distributed my stats like this as a level 62 player who uses mana-eating class and has Warrior as the base class:

STR - 120
END - 70
WIS - 115

The reason I have so much WIS is that after the update, the amount of mana I had was simply not enough considering the classes I used. You don't have to put in that much WIS if you're just going to use Warrior but if you will use a class that eats mana as if it was at an all-you-can-eat buffet, better put in a lot of WIS. If not, you could just increase LUK.

ProstheticFate -> RE: =DF= Version 14.0.1 (2/27/2015 6:22:33)

@Ash I think I broke the game, don't if this is suppose to happen but when I was equipping the summon trinket - Illumina it gave me a massive damage increase my damage range went from 82-100 to 107-200.

Sakurai the Cursed -> RE: =DF= Version 14.0.1 (2/27/2015 6:56:51)

@Chazero -
quote:

Actually, the "optimal" choice right now is LUK, END and WIS, at least for anyone who isn't using guests and pets (in which case it's probably CHA, END and WIS). When having an equal amount of points, LUK is superior to damage stats as it gives roughly the same damage (taking into account the average damage increase from more Crit) while also giving Bonus and Defense. After items are revamped it may be better to focus on damage stats for your gear, because you'll be able to get more damage stats from gear than LUK, but for your actual stat build LUK is better.

Dracojan -> RE: =DF= Version 14.0.1 (2/27/2015 9:58:34)

i wouldnt call it optimal since only for high lvl players its close to the primary dmg stats.

Ash -> RE: =DF= Version 14.0.1 (2/27/2015 10:17:45)

You didn't break the game. I just looked and the Summon Trinkets were giving +Min/Max when they weren't supposed to. (Trinkets are supposed to give 0-0 Min/Max) I'm going back through and checking all the other trinkets, as well as a few other items, to see if any others are doing this.

pitties -> RE: =DF= Version 14.0.1 (2/27/2015 10:22:56)

Ash can you improve the xp curve and battle rewards? I am hoping for a system like AQ where leveling is fast and rewarding!!

oh, and you mentioned "DF turning into AQ" as a bad thing... As I play that game, I can confirm that, while the cutscenes may not be as engaging as DF's, combat is infinitely more fun!
