AkRo -> RE: =DF= Version 14.0.1 (2/23/2015 23:28:35)

so the higher Melee, Pierce and Magic is, the higher chance there is for US to miss an atack, or the enemy?, and also i wanna know the same about Parry Dodge Block, the higher it is, the lower chance there is for US to hit, or the Enemy?

Please do not post personal information. ~San Robin

The Odor -> RE: =DF= Version 14.0.1 (2/23/2015 23:30:01)

Necro and soulweaver both work fine (Necro plays exactly like before, maybe with some more use on the more mana skill, Soulweaver needs some more thinking with how to tend your mana).

squirrel -> RE: =DF= Version 14.0.1 (2/23/2015 23:42:09)

@Ash will there eventually be an update where we can sort our bank and inventory into tabs were you have a weapons tab, or helmet tab, ect, for easier organization of all our stuff?

also idk if its me I can't figure out how to switch back to water element on Ultimate DF Scythe of elements

133spider -> RE: =DF= Version 14.0.1 (2/23/2015 23:55:03)

I LOVE the character selection screen's design
This was really well done! [:D]

Hopeful Guy -> RE: =DF= Version 14.0.1 (2/23/2015 23:56:31)

Good to see those changes. As I recall, you could be immune to Light and Darkness, Crit was ridiculous and B/P/D was useless completely. Now, well,

I would think, with all of these nerfs... boss nerfs across the board? Beating some of them was really tough before, impossible now. I don't think anyone will ever beat Bugged Bone Fire without DoomKnight again. :-( My main concern is not BBF, though, it's story bosses like the infamous When. He was hard before, but now he's close to impossible for a Non-DA, I would think...

EDIT: Also, the new changes mean Rogue and Cryptic are suddenly very powerful...

NagisaXIkari -> RE: =DF= Version 14.0.1 (2/24/2015 0:03:33)

There were people that When didn't flee from?

The Odor -> RE: =DF= Version 14.0.1 (2/24/2015 0:05:43)

Hopeful: That is a really good point on the Rogue and Cryptic. I'll have to go back to my old Cryptic when I get my new build in order.

I am very intrigued by this as I will now have to balance my main classes against each other: Necro, Mage, Deathknight and Icebound Revenant... The revenant seems the most out in the cold right now. Middle ground mana costs and NO restore skills. This is hillarious. Frostreaver is highly recommended.

Ash: Is cryptics Paranoia Passive just +0-25 crit flat still? Because that is awesome now rather then being a bit overkill.

docblade -> RE: =DF= Version 14.0.1 (2/24/2015 0:26:40)

Weeelll.....thats about 32k gold down the drain for reskilling. Dunno if TK counts as a rouge-class or not ('cause an attack still does melee) but i need about 1k MP for the long fights; getting an unexpected downgrade from 1300 to 800 is...expensive

Kate97 -> RE: =DF= Version 14.0.1 (2/24/2015 0:31:29)

I don't understand- why does it matter how many weapon types we use? In my warrior I have swords, maces, axes, and a scythe. If I'll understand why I need to choose only one of them maybe I'll search for other weapons.

Hopeful Guy -> RE: =DF= Version 14.0.1 (2/24/2015 0:34:53)

Odor: It is, which is one of the reasons why it's arguably the best or joint best with Ascendant of the three now. It gets high Crit, has low mana costs AND it's unhittable (because it gets to 200+ B/P/D).

Something I noticed: Armor Closet now has the same bug as Orb of Saving. If you have a weapon equipped and you try to save a class, it will equip the default weapon of that class, but it won't unequip your current weapon. So if your base weapon does 20-50 damage (Kathool Adept) and your weapon equipped does 82-100 (for example), you end up doing 102-150 damage, which is ridiculous.

toannghe1997 -> RE: =DF= Version 14.0.1 (2/24/2015 0:35:38)

Loving the update, the game builds are nearly like aq now ;)
Wow, I mean WOW, some bosses sure like to block while nuking your health... LOVE IT, we will have to think more than twice before taunting the staffs now :P
Through, the color of the game is somewhat too bright now, even hurting my eyes , or is it just me?

Skullkyopi -> RE: =DF= Version 14.0.1 (2/24/2015 0:38:04)

Art-wise:

It's been said before but I'll say it again, it is beautiful. The HP/MP bar now looks like an alchemical vial instead of just... a bar of red and blue.

The subtle sun glare on the Amulet, 3D-fied Dragonfable logo with the ruby in it.
Parchment, quill and candle on the interface that now looks like it belongs in the time of Lore.

And finally the pretty book-mark like things in the inventory that I want and would buy with real life money. (Book addicts all around!)

Although, I'm looking at the new buttons and keep asking myself, "What ARE those 3 round things on the side? Does someone actually want to push something so... bumpy?
It looks like it'll hurt my hand if I just slam down on it." I don't know... the critical design dude in my head is thinking in real world again.

And my dreams of the backpack being turned into a knapsack looks like it can carry what we have is crushed yet again. (But then again, MAGIC!)
Also, did you the two scrolls on both ends of the UI? They seem cleaner than the middle of the paper.

Stat-wise::

Finally! The days of crit entitlement are no more! Long live the balance!
With that said, I think you've created another stat just as arrogant like it with the changes to defence. I hardly get hit anymore [:D]

The MP nerf... I'm not sure how to address this. I've never had a problem with it since I always get stingy with mana-use, but this will definitely show on those really long quests.
So, with the nerf to crit and better defence we have monsters with less HP... I smell DoT abuse in the air, and it smells good.

All in all, this is another step to DF greatness. I am proud to be here with you guys to abuse play with the new toys the staff has given us. CHEERS!

EDIT:Has resistances been buffed? I feel like it has... or is All:-20 really big to begin with?

megakyle777 -> RE: =DF= Version 14.0.1 (2/24/2015 0:40:53)

Hey Ash, would it be possible to add a pet dragon/guest dragon save? I'd like to have my dragon besides me at all times, especially if I can no longer summon him in quests and the like.

Mechbuster1 -> RE: =DF= Version 14.0.1 (2/24/2015 1:00:00)

OK so I am somewhat surprised by this version. I actually like the old look better but it is not that important. The scrolls on the sides block the progress bar and should be lowered. The alchemical vial appearance blocks the ends of the HP and MP bars. The gold spheres on the buttons are distracting. If everything is changing appearance then the backpack and shops should use different screens so it is readily apparent which one you are looking at.

I just noticed the Wis nerf. That really sucks, and the other stat changes don't matter. So all I can see that the changes do is give a brighter interface and cause me to loose what little power I had and have to dump points into Wis again. Why? Only the bug fixes are actually welcome.

SlasherrGirl -> RE: =DF= Version 14.0.1 (2/24/2015 1:00:46)

I'm pleased with the update overall (It feels all fancy and I really dig the changing scenery behind the character selection page but some of the colors-the character selection buttons and the dragon amulet especially-seem overly bright/saturated to me, and decorations on the attack buttons feel kind of busy if you're not in fullscreen.

Also, with the wisdom nerf are there plans to update the mana alchemy game? Only healing up to 275 MP felt a little weak even before it to me.

Arthur Glacier -> RE: =DF= Version 14.0.1 (2/24/2015 1:08:55)

I'm impressed.
The old interface was nice, but now it's just beautiful.
I especially like the new backpack graphics.
Am I right to expect that eventually all the buttons will be ornamented?

I like the new stats.
Everything is more clear now.

YOU HAVE DONE BETTER THAN WELL.

BTW. Serenity Scythes still have axe icons.

Therril Oreb -> RE: =DF= Version 14.0.1 (2/24/2015 1:13:26)

To those wondering. The changes made it possible in DF to have viable defensive builds alongside with other variants.
Did defensive orientated classes get buffed? Indirectly so for their skills for boosting defense now do as they intend to and though deal less damage than a damage orientated build, they have defense to back it up.
Does this mean being offensive is now useless? Nope, this is not like AQ where you got 10-15 rounds for a standard fight. If you would go full defensive, a fight probably will take 3-4 turns at max depending while offensive takes 2-3 turns.
So it is up to your playstyle from now on.

@SlasherrGirl: The game itself is broken and just a pain in the ass so I think it is better if it gets fixed first or even changed before upgraded. As you can see, Ash has a washing list of things left to do before the entire update is over. This was merely the first wave so to speak :p

For those not happy with this "Wisdom nerf". I quote Ash for this:
quote:

Wis was considered a "dump stat". By that I mean you just dumped a few points into it and you were good forever. Now you're going to have to consider how mana intensive your class is, the length of the quest and the boss fight, and figure out the ideal balance of Wis to give you enough mana. Mana intensive classes are going to require you to put more points in Wis and that's OK! You should have to think a bit about your stat setup and tweak it to fit your preferred class.

If you use mana heavily, you will now have to think more. That is all this is about. Is it worth putting more points in WIS so that you can use your final skill a few more times?
Wis did not really get a nerf, it became a useful stat to put points in, that is how it should be seen.

@skulltyopi: The only thing that happened to resistances is that it is set to a maximum of 80 for equipment only. Skills can surpass the maxixmum of course. -20 does not seem to be good though since that means 20% more damage from all sources :/

Heartdragon -> RE: =DF= Version 14.0.1 (2/24/2015 1:22:55)

Well, yes, I think the only complain I have is the tweaking of the skill buttons during battle. I mean, they're not that bad, but since I usually use low quality to avoid most of the lag, but they don't look as good as before.

Question: The HP/MP potion level cap is locked at 40 for everyone? (or it depends on you total END/WIS, or your level, or...?) Because it would help a lot if it was raised a bit. *wink wink* (I'm at level 55, by the way.)

Skullkyopi -> RE: =DF= Version 14.0.1 (2/24/2015 1:24:35)

@Therril:
I meant the -20 All to skills like DK and MS, so it means a straight +20% dmg for a few turns against an enemy? (assuming it was 0 to begin with)
Boost wasn't changed right? 35% boost is still a straight +35% to your dmg?

docblade -> RE: =DF= Version 14.0.1 (2/24/2015 1:29:09)

we need quests that gives more gold if we need to reskill like that. a complete reskill just to put 5 points from one skill to another....thats more than 126k in total

qwedan123 -> RE: =DF= Version 14.0.1 (2/24/2015 1:30:36)

Well i guess kathool will just suck for me now, and I only have 23 crit [:(].

kingbrando15 -> RE: =DF= Version 14.0.1 (2/24/2015 1:46:26)

random question what armors/classes would be considered warrior based? and which armors/classes are considered all class ones as in can use any weapons?

Therril Oreb -> RE: =DF= Version 14.0.1 (2/24/2015 2:32:13)

For class questions:
quote:

The Warrior base classes

The Warrior base class, Dragon Warrior class, and the Riftwalker class, use Strength (Str) for their main damage stat. They can use the Sword, Mace, Axe, and Scythe item types with no issues. You should only be using one of those weapon types if you're one of those classes.

The Mage base classes

The Mage base class, Dragon Mage class, and the Ascendant class, use Intellect (Int) for their main damage stat. They can use the Staff, Wand, Dagger, and Scythe item types with no issues. You should only be using one of those weapon types if you're one of those classes.

The Rogue base classes

The Rogue base class, Dragon Rogue class, and the Cryptic class, use Dexterity (Dex) for their main damage stat. They can use the Dagger and Scythe item types with no issues. You should only be using one of those weapon types if you're one of those classes.

All Other Classes

The other classes in the game can use any weapon type without issues. It IS recommended that you stick to the same Main Stat and Weapon types as your base class though.

every class not specifically set by a class above here is not a based class meaning any weapon works with them!

Gold -> RE: =DF= Version 14.0.1 (2/24/2015 3:41:18)

40 Crit is still respectable, although I don't see how that is exactly half of 78 before.

Therril Oreb -> RE: =DF= Version 14.0.1 (2/24/2015 3:44:55)

Crit on items is always rounded down, so all uneven numbers are rounded down. 9 crit only gives 40% crit chance. This causes to lose sightly more than half of the original crit chance most had.
