TFS -> Book 3 Inconsistencies (1/25/2020 15:07:53)

So there's a new rule about suggestions on this forum; I'd like to capitalize on this while it lasts(?) and start a bit of discussion here. I'm not going to participate in the coming influx of uncalled for gameplay suggestions, as to me that would feel super entitled, but if I may I would like to start pointing out a couple minor Book 3 plotholes/inconsistencies that aren't really bugs but probably deserve to be fixed or changed regardless. If other people have found similar things please post about them here.

Not sure if this really counts as a suggestions thread, but the new rule motivated me to report some "story bugs" and I think there are probably other people who've noticed more stuff. The new rule allows for more player feedback and I think bringing unintended errors to the developers' attention is one of the few productive applications of a suggestions thread.

This thread is for Book 3 stuff, as Book 3 is almost completely airtight and the only potential fix suggestions are for very minor, easily fixed errors. Please don't post about any big Book 1 plotholes or inconsistencies, as impractical or entitled suggestions are what I want to avoid with this thread.

The two I've noticed revolve around the Tournament of Champions and its place in DF's timeline.
The timeline and almost all of the game have Tournament of Champions taking place after Calamity, but a certain someone's diary in Tea for Three references events in the Tournament of Champions taking place before events that occur in Calamity.
The protagonist also receives a letter from Artix during the Tournament of Champions, but responds to this letter before Calamity. On the subject of Artix, there's also an NPC in the Shears who claims he isn't in contact with the Paladin Order(tm), though both of his aforementioned appearances contradict that.

Uh, yeah. Hoping other people contribute here as I think suggesting small-yet-important fixes that can't really be bug reported is the best way the new rule can be used to help make the game we love even better. Please don't get this thread locked, guys.

I'm honestly not sure if this is the right thread for this type of post, but I feel like quests or questlines in the main story have to be locked until you finish the side stories that feature the characters that occur in the main story quests. For example, the 'Out of Control' quest features Magus Neron, who the player wouldn't know unless they have completed the Blood and Roses saga, 'My Spot' and the quests after 'Tea for Three' feature Danyel, Mazurek, and Khvorost, who are characters you meet in the Book 3 Tomix Saga, Kara's new quests also feature Amadeus, who you get to know via the Calamity Saga, and 'Homecoming Hurts' features Sir Leon, who you meet in the Shears Saga. Overall, I feel like if Kara's new quests were locked behind the completion of these side stories, then there'd be a lower chance of people skipping these side stories and jumping into the main story and missing out on the lore on these characters. Of course, ideally, a player should follow the Timeline so as to not skip important events, but imo it would be nice if the main story was locked behind their completion if it isn't too much trouble.

The one thing that bothers me a bit is the timeline during Gala and Six Heroes saga. Or maybe I just require a bit confirmation because I'm not sure.

Some of the events in The Burning Village happens after the Gala. And the quests from Gala to Queen of Swordhaven happen pretty much back to back. And since in the recent quest, Darkheart our hero already knows about the Magisterium. So quests from Apprentice to Darkheart (also pretty much back-to-back) happen between Queen of Swordhaven and Jungle's Fury, or Jungle's Fury and Sailing to Maar? Our timeline in book 3 doesn't really add up in that. Since Six Heroes seems to be starting now, I hope that these minor issues are clarified a bit in quests.

OpprobriousPinecones -> RE: Book 3 Inconsistencies (1/26/2020 16:01:06)

Off the top of my head:

It's never actually explained or even discussed in-game or in any official material, from my recollection, why Tomix sacrificing himself to kill Aspar by jumping into the Void Core caused the void to recede from Ravenloss. (This one was explained on one of the unofficial Discords, but IIRC no explanation or discussion exists in game.) Could probably be fix by throwing in some dialogue here or there.

The Rose is, apparently, not permitted to enter Falconreach. However, during the Song On The Wind (as well as Dancing On The Breeze, I think) quest from Sulen'Eska, they're openly battling us on the streets of Falconreach and they seem to be accepted as a sourceo f authority (yelling at people to stop looking at the windchimes we put up and whatnot).

We have to sail to Azaveyr with the help of Mazurek, which seems to be something of an extended journey fraught with danger that we need an experienced captain and crew accompanying us in order to make. However, during the "To Edelia" quest, getting to Azaveyr (i.e an entirely different continent) is a peaceful day's trip that two people can take in a rowboat.

I'll edit this if I remember anything else.
