Dialogue
  • Alz'ein & Nirios joins you as Guest A.

*Alz'ein, Nirios, you, and your dragon meet with Nythera outside Warlic's tent; Nythera is about to be awake.*

Nythera: *Yaaawn* What time is it? Look, I've told you before, I didn't kill him again

*Nythera wakes up and looks at you and your Atealan companions.*

Nythera: Oh. It's you. What do you—
Nythera: ...What can I do for you and your... friends?
<Character>: Hi, Nythera. This is Alz'ein and Nirios. They're Ateala who came through the recent rifts.
    Nirios: Hello.
Alz'ein: Jatiw! <Character> tells us that you might know where Warlic is.
    Nythera: Um. Hi.
    Nythera: ...Did <he/she/they>, now?
<Character>: No one's seen him since we destroyed the Super Mega Ultra Darkness Dracolich that ate the sun.
<Character>: I figured his apprentice would know where to start.
Nythera: You and everyone else who had business with him.
Nythera: *Sigh* I guess you all better come inside the tent, then. I'll put on some tea.

*You, your dragon, Alz'ein, Nirios, and Nythera enter the Mage Tower; you, Alz'ein, Nirios, and Nythera sit at a table, while your dragon sits at the bottom of the table nearby; Nythera have served tea to you, your dragon, and your Atealan companions, as well as for herself; Nirios sips his tea using his Cryptic powers, while Alz'ein looks at her tea; you smile at Nythera after drinking your tea; your dragon also sips their tea.*

    Nythera: There we go.
Nythera: Ever since Warlic's been gone, I've had to make the tea myself. You better appreciate it.
    <Dragon>: It's delicious! | *Cheerful chirp!*
    <Character>: No complaints from me!
Nirios: The flavors are quite different to what we had on Somorah, but this is quite nice, in its own way.
Nythera: Really—? I mean, yeah! Thought so.

*Alz'ein continuously put sugar cubes on her tea.*
    spoiler:

After waiting for approximately 15 minutes, a shop will appear:
  • You've waited for this... - opens Secret Sugar Cube shop.

  • Nythera: Um. So. Some of your people emerged from rifts around here. I sent them on to Falconreach.
    Nirios: That is greatly appreciated.
Nythera: From what they were able to tell me, I understand there was... a great tragedy on your planet?
Nirios: Wargoth, the Infernal, destroyed Somorah. Thanks to the Professor, the city of Atrea remains, alongside any Ateala who managed to flee.
Nythera: Oh. I'm... very sorry to hear that.
Nirios: Now, Wargoth's managed to find his way to Lore. Our Empress has confirmed it.
<Character>: We can't let him destroy Lore. Fiamme told me to find Warlic to help, but...
    Nythera: But Warlic isn't here.
<Character>: Is there anything you can do to help us find him? I heard you got your magic back.

*Despite that Nythera got her magic back, she has no idea where Warlic is.*

Nythera: I know this isn't what you want to hear, but I just have no idea where he is.
Nythera: Trust me, I wish I did. You're not the first to ask me where to find him.
Nythera: Guardians, adventurers, knights, moglins, seems like everyone and their tog had business with Warlic!
Nythera: I even tried asking Elysia and Elucidas for help.
Nythera: They've been training me in Warlic's absence.
Alz'ein: Is that it, then? This whole journey was a waste of time?
    Nythera: Um...
Nythera: There are certain wards in this tower that remain in place, that if he were to die, would fade and grant me— um, let people pass.
Nythera: Warlic... as far as I can tell, is still alive.
Nythera: Somewhere. I don't know where.
Nythera: When I got back to the tent after you got rid of that dracolich, there was only some residual magic showing signs of teleportation.
    Alz'ein: What kind of signs?
Nythera: The magic Warlic used opened a hole through the Void...
Nythera: ... and no matter how powerful a mage, or how careful you are, that always leaves some evidence.
Nirios: Alz'ein, doesn't that sound like—
    Alz'ein: A rift!
Nythera: I guess you could call it that. Cooler than just calling it a portal.
Alz'ein: I am a Riftwalker of the Ateala! This magic is known to me!
Alz'ein: Nythera, take me to the site of this rift. Nirios, can you let Isiri know? I should be able to find a trail, or at least a vector for her!
    Nirios: Of course.
Nythera: Wait, wait, slow down, the uh, site, is, uh...
    Nythera: Um... Busy.

*You ask what Nythera did with the Mage Tower.*

<Character>: Nythera, what did you do?
Nythera: Okay, fine, maybe after I noticed Warlic was gone, I might have tried to access some old tomes that I wasn't supposed to.
Nythera: And I might have instead unleashed some formerly imprisoned elementals and creatures.
<Character>: Let me guess, said formerly imprisoned elementals and creatures might be rampaging through the tower...
<Character>: ... including where the rift was?
    Nythera: *Sigh* Hypothetically speaking, yes.
Nythera: Sorry. I'm still used to keeping my mistakes to myself.
<Character>: But, don't you have your magic back? Couldn't you have cleared them out on your own?
<Character>: And wait— what about Cysero?
Nythera: Well, according to Cysero, as long as they don't cross over to his half of the tower, they're not his problem.
Nythera: As for why I haven't taken care of them on my own, well, I've been busy!
<Dragon>: You're a powerful dragon! You could just eat them! | *Accusatory grumble!*
    Nythera: Half-dragon, <Dragon>! I can't just— I mean, maybe...? But ew!
Nythera: Look, I'm doing my best to help everyone who comes looking for Warlic. And while the illusion works for simpler issues...
Nythera: ...Recently, more and more, the cases have needed a personal touch.
<Character>: Huh. The illusion's usually good enough for me.
    Nythera: Yes. It is.
    <Dragon>: Cause you're simple! | *Mocking growl*
    <Character>: ...
<Character>: Okay, fine, we'll clean up the tower... again!
Nythera: Thanks, <Character>. And of course, Alz'ein, you are welcome to inspect the area afterward.
Alz'ein: Yeah, yeah, let's go already!

*You fight various monsters as you, your dragon, and your Atealan companions find the site of the rift; eventually, they find it.*

Alz'ein: This is the spot. I can already tell that a powerful rift was opened here.
<Character>: It's that obvious to you?
    Alz'ein: Yeah. Here, watch this.

*Alz'ein casts magic to project a rift that was opened by Warlic after the events of Book 1.*

    <Character>: Whoa.
Alz'ein: Nirios, are you projecting this to Etaos?
Nirios: I am. You may proceed with your analysis.
    Alz'ein: On it!

*Alz'ein casts a cosmic bubble to herself as she analyzes the opened rift, which causes an orange beam to appear from it.*

    Alz'ein: There it is...

*Another orange beam appears from the rift.*

    Nirios: Alz'ein...?
Alz'ein: I'm trying to focus, here!

*Multiple orange beams appear from the rift.*

    Nirios: Alz'ein!
Alz'ein: It's not... me! This doesn't make sense!
<Character>: What's happening? What does this mean?

*Alz'ein stops projecting the rift, ending her analysis; she is shocked by the revelations coming from the rift.*

    Alz'ein: Haa...
    Nirios: Alz'ein!
    <Character>: What was that?
Alz'ein: That... this doesn't make sense...
Alz'ein: Whoever— Whatever went through that rift...
    Alz'ein: ...Was scattered.
<Character>: What do you mean, scattered?!
Alz'ein: Every single beam from the projection was a destination. If this was your mage, there should have only been one.
Alz'ein: A novice Riftwalker might struggle to focus their analysis on a single possibility...
Alz'ein: ... and of course there are many factors like destination, or size, or power...
Alz'ein: But with that many vectors...
Nirios: Etaos has given Isiri the data. She'll do what she can.
Alz'ein: Yeah. Isiri has a better head for that kind of thing.
<Character>: But Warlic's still alive! Nythera said so!
Alz'ein: I don't know what to tell you. Whatever happened here is beyond anything I've ever studied.
<Character>: There wasn't any kind of pattern you could discover? Anything at all?
    Alz'ein: ...
Nirios: Hold on. I'm getting word back from Etaos.
Nirios: Isiri is just as baffled as you are, Alz'ein, but after an initial look, she believes there's a bundle of vectors pointing to the west. On Lore.
    Nirios: Etaos thinks—
<Character>: West is pretty vague. That could still be anywhere!
Nirios: Etaos believes they converge near the location of Swordhaven. Isiri will try to narrow things down for all the rest, but it's a start.
Alz'ein: But... that's still only a few of so many vectors... I'm sorry, I've never seen anything like this.
    Nythera: Hey, there you are.

*Nythera enters the site of the opened rift.*

Nythera: You did a good job cleaning up. Any luck finding Warlic?
    <Character>: Nythera, you're sure Warlic's still alive?
    Nythera: Absolutely. ...Why?
<Character>: According to Alz'ein, the rift here had... a lot of destinations. Not just one.
Nythera: Ah. Um. That sounds... complicated?
    <Character>: No kidding.
    Nythera: Well that's... That's...
Nythera: Well, I guess I don't know what to do about that.
    <Dragon>: That's okay! I don't get what's going on, either! | *Commiserating chirps*
    Nythera: Thanks, <Dragon>.
Nythera: *Sigh* I'll... I'll just have to keep taking care of everything until he returns, huh?
Nythera: You know, if anyone told me how much work being an archmage is, maybe I'd have preferred staying grounded.
Nythera: I know Warlic spent some time dealing with rogue elementals and such, but I don't remember it being this bad.
<Character>: More elemental troubles here, too?
    Nythera: It's not just here?
<Character>: Popsprocket was under attack by some unusual elemental activity...
<Character>: ... and the Swordhaven knights who helped defend Atrea mentioned something about that, too.
Nythera: The last time something like this happened was when I uh... borrowed Warlic's stuff...
<Character>: Do you think the Avatars are involved again?
Nythera: Yeah. Definitely. Something strange is going on.
<Character>: Just what we needed. Another potential crisis.
Nirios: Isiri's analysis of Alz'ein's data will take some time, but we do have a lead, slight as it may be.
Nirios: And, I will admit, Etaos' stories of Swordhaven left me curious...
<Character>: Swordhaven would be a good next stop, but I'm worried about Wargoth. If he attacks again and we're caught off guard...
    <Character>: I'm worried about Atrea.
Alz'ein: No need, <Character>. Thanks to you, we've been able to get established, and you helped us find allies in this land of Greenguard.
Alz'ein: If Wargoth lays siege to Atrea again, I bet you won't have time to get back before we've won!
<Character>: Sure you want to make that a bet?
<Dragon>: We'd get back and stop them before you had breakfast! Or dinner! Or whatever meal you like! | *Prideful roar!*
Alz'ein: Against what I've seen you two do? Not really. But, you don't need to worry!
Alz'ein: You'll be traveling with Nirios, anyway. If we need your help, Etaos will be able to contact you.
<Character>: And what about you, Alz'ein?
Alz'ein: I'll wrap up here, discuss things with Nythera, then head back to Atrea to help Isiri decipher what happened with that rift.
Alz'ein: Veyla's still out there, too. I'm not giving up on her.
<Character>: We'll find her, and we'll bring her back. I promise!
Alz'ein: ...Yeah. Go on, then, Swordhaven's waiting for you!
Nythera: I'll see if I can find out what's going on with these elementals, too.
Nythera: If the Avatars are truly involved, I guess they're my responsibility until you bring Warlic back!
