Etaos & Nirios joins you as Guest B. *You and your dragon return to Atrea; they meet with Etaos, Isiri, and Alz'ein in the Midnight Inn, with information that Konnan is in the Deadlands.* <Character>: So, Konnan's trail leads north, to the Deadlands. <Character>: It's going to be tough to narrow things down from there, though. The Deadlands are massive, and full of places to hide. *Isiri looks at the map of the Land of Dragons and points at the northeastern point of the map, signifying the Deadlands.* Isiri: The Deadlands are this area, here? Isiri: Hmm. Alz'ein: Isiri, isn't that where— Isiri: Yes. Isiri: Alz'ein's projection of Warlic's rift led you to Swordhaven, and that set you on Konnan's trail. Isiri: Perhaps it's just a coincidence, but... Isiri: ...Of the vectors that Alz'ein's projection followed, there's been a sizable number that ended up routing north. Alz'ein: If we focus on those, maybe we'll be able to find Konnan again. And the Professor. <Character>: Do you think they might be looking for Warlic, too? Alz'ein: That would explain why some of the vectors led to places Konnan has been. Alz'ein: And if Warlic is as important as your fire Avatar said, then it makes sense that the Professor is also seeking him out! <Character>: Isiri, can you figure out if they converge anywhere? Isiri: Of course. Now that I know where to focus, this will be much simpler. Alz'ein, lend me a hand, please. Alz'ein: I'll support you, Isiri. Alz'ein: There were a couple other lines we were pursuing, but with your new information, <Character>, this seems to hold the most promise. *Isiri and Alz'ein cast a spell to project Warlic's rift; multiple orange vectors appear from the projection, leading to a northeastern direction.* Isiri: There! I have it! *Isiri looks at the map of the Land of Dragons again and continuously points at a mountainous region of the Deadlands.* Isiri: The projection still has a lot of noise, outlying points, and tangles, but I believe they converge near here. Alz'ein: I've never seen obfuscation like this before. Not even from our most talented Riftwalkers. Alz'ein: But we don't have time to wonder about it. <Character>: Right. <Dragon> and I will set out at once. Konnan already knows we're on his trail. Alz'ein: I'm coming with you. If we find the Professor, I have a few questions for him. Isiri: Me too. As Unael, I have permission to speak for the Empress, should it come to it. *After planning to leave Atrea to go to the Deadlands, scene pans left as you, Isiri, and Alz'ein look at Etaos and your dragon awkwardly; Etaos appears to be petting with your dragon.* Etaos: What? Oh. Yeah, I'll let Nirios know, and we'll tag along. Etaos: Never know when you need a couple of Cryptics for subterfuge or interrogation! <Dragon>: Let's get going already! | *Impatient growl!* *You are in the Deadlands; you fight various monsters along the way; suddenly, you detect something is wrong.* First Trap <Character>: ... <Character>: Uh oh... my hero sense is tingling. Veer Up *You move up, only for two turrets from the right appear to shoot and kill you.* You failed to dodge the trap! - Retry - return to choice selection.
Go Straight *You move straight; you destroy the turret that appears.* <Character>: Woah! <Character>: A mechanical trap? <Character>: ... <Character>: I must be getting close. Veer Down *You move down as a turret appears; you dodge the right turret's shot, only for another turret to appear from behind to shoot and kill you.* You failed to dodge the trap! - Retry - return to choice selection.
Second Trap *After surviving the first turret minigame, you find a cave containing a mineshaft.* <Character>: Hmm... <Character>: If there were traps near the entrance to this little slice of deadlands, then chances are there are more here. <Character>: Great.. *Five turrets appear as they are ready to shoot you; you must press Attack five times from a different direction as it appears.* GET READY! Attack Attack Attack Attack If you fail in dodging the second trap: You failed to dodge the trap! Retry If you succeed in the second trap: *You manage to evade the turrets' shots and destroy all five of them.* <Character>: ... <Character>: Wow, I'm awesome. *After completing the second turret minigame, you, your dragon, and the Atealans find the cave.* <Character>: Voltabolt's tracker is going off. We must be close enough for the signal. *Your dragon holds Voltabolt's tracker; it appears that the cave must be the place where Konnan can be found.* Isiri: It's within the bounds of the trajectory projection, too. This must be the place. Nirios: Those mechanical traps and turrets were like what we encountered in Swordhaven, right, <Character>? <Character>: Yeah. Just like what Konnan used. <Character>: Be on your guard once we're inside. Konnan's dangerous, and we don't know what to expect. Alz'ein: If he's the villain you described, there's no way the Professor would give him those tools freely. Alz'ein: If he's hurt the Professor in any way... <Dragon>: I'll bite his shins! | *Vengeful hiss* <Character>: ... <Character>: We'll deal with that when we get there. Come on. Let's see what he's hiding in here. *You enter the cave; upon entering the cave, Konnan is surprised that you have followed him there.* Konnan: Wha— You followed me all the way here?! *Scene pans outward as Konnan, now angry, confronts you, your dragon, and the Atealans.* Konnan: Leave. Now. I won't let any of you pass! <Character>: Konnan. We don't have to fight. Where's the Professor? Konnan: I don't know who you're talking about. Alz'ein: Liar! His technology is all around us! If <Character> won't make you move aside, I will! Konnan: No. ???: Enough! That's enough. *Suddenly, everyone looks at an elderly man with a white coat and a mechanical arm; this man appears to be The Professor, who appears to stop the fighting.* ???: I'd rather my apprentice stay in one piece if you don't mind. Isiri: You—! The Professor: Well done, apprentice. I commend your loyalty and temper. Konnan: ... The Professor: As for the rest of you... My apprentice, though hotheaded, is not sloppy. The Professor: I would like to know how you managed to find me. The Professor: We can take the next steps from there. *Scene fades to black.* Complete Quest Other information One of the Golden Eggs can be found here. Pop-up headlines during the quest: quote:
Alz'ein: 'Glad you were able to make it, Nirios. Hope tearing yourself away from the big city wasn't too hard.' Nirios: 'It was not difficult. Swordhaven has its charms, but being alone...' Nirios: 'Anyway, Etaos caught me up on the details. Let's hope this lead is the one.' Alz'ein: 'Okay, maybe that was a little bit impressive.' Alz'ein: 'Is that tracker thing you have working at all, <Character>?' Isiri: 'The Darkness in this place... I thought it was comforting at first, but I've realized... it carries so much pain.' Etaos: 'Uh. This doesn't look like the right way, <Character>.' Alz'ein: 'Oh. It's a dead end. We had these back on Somorah, too.' Etaos: 'Hmm. Which way do we go from here?' Isiri: 'I'm having trouble following the... The ambient magic is disrupting my projection, I'm sorry.' Alz'ein: 'If we just keep trying every path, we'll find something, right?' Nirios: 'I'm getting a strange feeling, maybe we're close.' Isiri: 'I think... I think we're almost there.' Etaosi: 'That mineshaft looks suspicious, doesn't it?' This quest is a re-released version of North with new dialogue, art, animation, music, and bugfixes on October 31st, 2025.
