Giving Dhows a name is important because it allows for action upon him; the specific action we're trying to achieve with Falerin is an abjuration, which expels Dhows from Lore and places him back in his home universe. We need his home coordinates in order to do so; most abjurations would not require such, but Dhows is a most abnormal being. Entering that door is an attempt to discern these home coordinates. We brought Erebus with us to prevent him from interfering with his past and so confound our efforts to glean information from said past and befuddle our attempts at ascertaining the home coordinates. The "earlier" scene demonstrates in-game the link between Erebus and the Shadow Universe that the staff have been telling us about this entire time on the forums. As to what we're trying to achieve, we're trying to Fight the Shadow. :P We want to send him back to his home dimension to stop him from causing more trouble. As for killing Falerin, I suspect he did it specifically so that he would have a God by his side, which could prove useful (e.g., by stopping the arrival of the Lady of Light's Avatar, the Commander Paladin, in Division by Zero, in creating a lot of chaos by starting a God War, etc.). I'm going to write a plot synopsis for the Dhows Arc. Klet'sdothis. This is the first part: War for Darkovia The'Galin has been driven from Lore, but not without cost-- a previous Avatar of Death Balius, known more widely as Nightbane, sacrificed his life in the battle. Though all of Lore had united in an attempt to stop The Network in its quest to destroy Lore, the absence of an external threat has returned Darkovia to its petty power struggles. Safiria the Queen of Vampires, Constantin Petyrovich the Were-King, and Erimus, also known as WolfWing, are again at war. There have been werepyres attacking both lycan and vampire territories. Crispus (Constantin's son) and his Blackguard have been attacking werepyres and vampires. Vampires have also been reported attacking places as far as Obsidia's Fortress and Frostvale. Rather than attempting to discern the true culprit, the three go to war again. "Caught in the crossfire" are the unfortunate humans of Darkovia. Lady Evina the White Abbess comes forth from her monastery in Darkovia and asks Yulgar to alert the heroes of Battleon of the war and to call for aid in defending Darkovia. We learn from cutscenes that the one behind the attacks was Donovan, Cenara's half-brother. He deplores the chaos of war and has demonstrated to Crispus, a Vampire, and a Werepyre that their respective subrace leaders only serve to amplify said chaos. Donovan aims to take advantage of the confusion of the war to take control of what was previously Balius's Fortress, which only Cenara, Dewlok, and two commanders of Balius's guard. By causing a brief distraction in which a statue falls onto Balius's glass coffin, breaking it. A shard of glass from the coffin cuts Cenara, who leaves the Fortress to determine the cause of the commotion. After the war is won, Lady Evina yells at the various Darkovian powers, scolding them for their chaotic conduct. When she calls for someone to stand for Darkovia, Cenara enters, claiming that she will. At this point, she falls. Lady Evina catches her. Elsewhere, Donovan begins to make his move. A Cure for Cenara! In continuation of the previous quest, Erimus enters the scene, demanding to be told what happened to his granddaughter Cenara. Erimus and Evina play the blame game-- Evina accuses Erimus of causing more fighting in Darkovia, and Erimus accuses Evina of abandoning Cenara (though Evina claims that she was only trying to save her daughter from what happened to her first son, Edward). Dewlok interrupts, revealing that what afflicts Cenara is in fact warring strains of the Darkovia subraces-- the piece of glass that had cut her was most likely contaminated with Balius's blood. The adventurers of Battleon are called once again, this time to venture into No Man's Land surrounding Granemor to gather healing herbs: Rashalia Fern, Tortello Leaf, and Triffid Rhizome. When the adventurers had finished gathering the herbs, Dewlok attempts to cure Cenara. Despite a transfusion of healing Moglin blood, Cenara cannot be healed completely. She has aged and is now Forsaken, though "intact," as Dewlok was able to "break the link" with Death. He was also only able to combine the three contagions assaulting her system rather than remove them completely-- Cenara can now only become a Dracopyre or die. Elsewhere, Donovan has taken over Balius's Fortress, getting ready to perform a ritual that he claims will make him a perfect Dracopyre, capable of producing others like himself. The quest ends with Donovan's bringing in two of Balius's former lieutenants, who he claims will help him in the ritual. NightReign and GraceFang and NightReign Vs. GraceFang The ritual has been completed-- Donovan has risen as a perfect Dracopyre, donning the name "NightReign." He begins a war to subjugate the entirety of Darkovia. The adventurers manage to halt the advance of Donovan's armies, also fighting off three of the leaders of said armies. Evina reveals that Donovan is her son by her second husband, a farmer. In response to Erimus's call that something be done about Donovan, Cenara stands, revealing that she has also become a perfect Dracopyre, taking on the name GraceFang. The two fight a war. The adventurers must choose between the Evil Unity of Donovan and the Chaotic Good of Cenara. Cenara ends up victorious. As they fight, however, they learn of a "vast creature" moving in the Scar of No Man's Land and that Ryuusei Cartwright has also been seen in the vicinity. They both head toward Granemor to investigate.
