Dialogue
  • <Dragon> joins you as pet.

*You and your dragon meet with Sir Ano in Aika Village's Pavilion; Sir Ano is dressed up as a beachgoer for the vacation.*

Sir Ano: <Character>! <Dragon>! You made it!
<Character>: Hey, Sir Ano. How's your vacation going?
Sir Ano: Er, well, it turns out it's not quite the vacation I was expecting.
Sir Ano: I'm here on official business, too.

  • Ask about the business
Sir Ano: With Willowshire's recent problems, a lot of traders are having trouble getting their goods from the harbor here to Swordhaven and beyond.
Sir Ano: The Guardians used to provide safety along the road around Willowshire and Falconreach, you see.
Sir Ano: Anyway, the King sent me here to try to figure out if a royally maintained road could be built to facilitate direct travel.
      <Character>: That sounds... complicated.
      Sir Ano: You're telling me.
Sir Ano: Too far south, and you start dealing with the Sandsea, and all the dangers of the desert there.
Sir Ano: There are a lot of mountains in the way, too, wherever you turn. And I don't think I have to tell you how dangerous those can be.
Sir Ano: The road through Willowshire, with stops at Verteroche and Falconreach, really was the best option, before Gorgok attacked.
Sir Ano: Hmm. Maybe we can say it will be a "scenic historical trail"? But traders aren't interested in that stuff.
Sir Ano: Maybe some of the locals would be interested in establishing a more direct route... I'll have to bring that up next time I meet with their leaders...
Sir Ano: But never mind all that! You're here to relax!

*The dialogue then converges if you had chosen 'I'm here to relax!' first.*
  • I'm here to relax!
Sir Ano: I can't help but notice you're not wearing a swimsuit!
Sir Ano: Is that a hero thing? "Always be prepared for trouble!" or something, right?
<Character>: Er, actually, I didn't really think about—
    Panicked Tourist: Help! Heeeeeelp!
<Character>: I mean, yes, I definitely expected something to happen.

*Scene pans right as the Panicked Tourist enters; he asks you for help against the monsters' invasion.*

Panicked Tourist: You— You look kind of heroic! Help! Heeeeelp!
Panicked Tourist: Monsters are invading the beach! Everyone's vacation is going to be ruined! Ruined!
<Dragon>: ...I should be napping in the sun by now. | *Unamused grumble*
Sir Ano: Aren't there, like, lifeguards to deal with this?
<Character>: What's a lifeguard going to do against a monster? Throw a life preserver at it?
    Sir Ano: Good point.
Sir Ano: You and <Dragon> go on ahead, I'll find Lilka and organize the evacuation!
    <Character>: Come on, <Dragon>!

    Beach

*You fight various fire monsters throughout the beach; after you clear all of the fire monsters, meanwhile, in Xan's lair, he and a mysterious, purple robed individual known as the Necromantress watch the events of the invasion unfold via an orange viewing portal; the Pyronomicon and a partially broken, purple crystal also appears by Xan and the Necromantress' side respectively.*

Xan: HAHAHAHAHAHA! The Hero of Falconreach is completely pre-occupied with my cleverly disguised fire minions!
Xan: You are free to make your move...
Necromantress: Cleverly disguised? They're on fire... all of them are on fire. How is that "cleverly disguised"?
Xan: ... The lavagoblin isn't on fire.
Necromantress: I have to admit, Xan, it takes an amazing amount of power to cast an illusion of an army of that size.
Necromantress: They really all seem to be aligned with Light instead of Fire. I'm impressed.
Xan: I'm not here to impress you, Necromancer. This illusion is only a taste of the Pyronomicon's true power!
Xan: To think that Slugwrath brat was serving under Lord Sepulchure the whole time...
Xan: And now it's thanks to Sepulchure's orders that I'm wasting time here while Warlic sits in his tent and...
Necromantress: Don't lose focus, Xan. Once we are done here you may return to your obsession with the blue mage...
Necromantress: ... and I will return to my plans in Amityvale. You know the plan. Your minions distract the hero...
Necromantress: ...then my undead army joins your forces and after crushing <him/her/them>, they will march to Falconreach and destroy it once and for all.
Necromantress: Finally, we retrieve the dragon hatchling for Sepulchure and claim our rewards.
    Xan: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Xan: Falconreach has already risen from the ashes once. I do not like leaving things unfinished.
Necromantress: Do not fear. Even if our combined forces fall to <Character>, our new powerful servants will finish the job!
Necromantress: That pathetic "hero" will be too tired to put up any kind of fight. Falconreach is doomed!
    Necromantress: ...
Necromantress: ... Any chance we can turn down the heat in here?
Xan: I told you that you would regret wearing those robes. You COULD take your hood down.
Necromantress: No I can't! I have terrible hood-hair right now. How about a glass of water?
Xan: Water??! My HEAD is mostly made of FIRE! Why would I have any water?!
    Necromantress: *sigh* Nevermind.

*Scene pans to the orange viewing portal as it shifts back to Aika Village's Beach; Sir Ano enters with his knight armor as he reports to you and your dragon that the invasion has gotten worse.*

Sir Ano: There you are, <Character>! It's a disaster!
<Character>: What's wrong? <Dragon> and I just finished cleaning up this part of the beach.
Sir Ano: I had to put on my armor and I feel like I'm boiling!!!
    <Character>: Uhh...
Sir Ano: Oh, and more monsters just started pouring into Aika! There's fire elementals, undead... It's a mess!
<Character>: Let's get right on that!

  • Sir Ano joins you as Guest A.

    Doomed Beach

Appears only in the first screen in the Doomed Beach:
  • Run Away! - launches Leave Quest confirmation box; clicking 'Yes' will teleport player to Aika Village.

*Aika Village now has a crimson red sky, signifying Doom; you fight fire monsters and undead as you get back to the Pavilion; despite the additional reinforcements, you, your dragon, and Sir Ano manage to defeat all of them.*

<Character>: Phew! That's all of them. Wow, I've never worked so hard on a vacation. I'm going to sleep for a week. I need a vacation from this vacation.
<Dragon>: Save a pillow for me! | *Tired growl*

*Suddenly, the Necromantress teleports in a puff of smoke; from offscreen, she tells you that the invasion is not over.*

Necromantress: Not quite all of them, <Character>.

*Scene pans right to show the Necromantress as you, your dragon, and Sir Ano face her; you ask her about her involvement with the undead invasion this time around.*

<Character>: Wait a second. Who are you? Isn't it usually Zorbak doing these wacky undead invasions? With the hockey masks?
Necromantress: Zorbak... hockey masks? That's just... silly.
<Character>: No, really! It was him, last time, in Falconreach!
Necromantress: I had hoped that the combined armies would finish you, but I suppose driving you mad is just as good.
Sir Ano: ...Is this part of the heroic process to confuse your foes?
    <Character>: What? I'm not crazy!
<Character>: There really is a blue moglin named Zorbak who has the power to raise the dead...
<Character>: ...and he uses that power to build undead sports teams!

*Despite knowing that Zorbak was behind the undead invasion in Falconreach, it is clear that you have gone insane.*

<Character>, Sir Ano, Necromantress (in unison): ...
<Character>: Ok, when I say it out loud it does sound kind of nuts.
Necromantress: Insane, or not, it is time to finish this. You've spent all of your time and energy defeating my army of the undead...
Necromantress: And Xan's minions, disguised as light monsters.
    <Character>: XAN?!
Necromantress: ... Yes, and we've prepared a special challenge for you.
Necromantress: Rotgut, Pro Pain, come finish off these fools.

  • Battle! - begins battle with Pro Pain and RotGut.
  • Heal - fully replenishes HP, MP, and potions.
  • Run Away! - returns to Aika Village.

*After defeating Pro Pain and RotGut, you, your dragon, Sir Ano, and Lilka celebrate their victory as the sky goes back to normal.*

Sir Ano: We... We actually did it! We saved the day!
Lilka: There's a lot of unhappy beachgoers, but at least they're all safe now, thanks to you!
<Character>: How's that for being a hero, Sir Ano?
    Sir Ano: Exhilarating! But... Phew...
Sir Ano: No one tells you about how it feels when sand gets all up in your armor...
Lilka: I don't think we need the details.
    <Character>: Yeah, I'm good.
Sir Ano: Sorry. And I'm sorry your vacation turned out like this, <Character>.
<Character>: What are you apologizing for? Xan and that Necromantress caused all this trouble!
<Character>: I'm sure <Dragon> and I will find plenty of time to relax another time. After all, Aika Village isn't going anywhere, right?
Lilka: That's right! You're always welcome here! All of you!

*Scene fades to black, before fading back in; back in Xan's lair, he and the Necromantress assess how you defeated Pro Pain and RotGut.*

Necromantress: Amazing, <he/she/they> defeated BOTH of them at the same time? How did <he/she/they> find the strength?
Xan: Maybe... HAHAHAHAHA! Maybe I'm <his/her/their> arch-nemesis now!
    Necromantress: ...
    Xan: HAHAHAHA!
Necromantress: I don't know why you're taking this so well. Sepulchure will be... unhappy with our failure.
Xan: Oh, I don't know... Let me tell Sepulchure the bad news. I will take full responsibility.
Necromantress: ...Very well. I don't know what you're up to, but if you want to take the blame, be my guest.

*The Necromantress teleports away in a puff of smoke; a familiar of Sepulchure's head appears to report to Xan.*

Xan: Lord Sepulchure, I've got some good news and some bad news. Which do you want first? HAHAHAHAHHA!
Sepulchure: I do not have patience for your games, Xan. Is it done?
Xan: Yes, my lord. While the hero was gone, I was able to make the switch and no one in Falconreach even suspects it!
Sepulchure: You are certain that no one will be able to tell...
Sepulchure: ... that one of the people in Falconreach has been replaced with one of our spies?
Xan: Do you doubt my skill with the Pyronomicon?!
Xan: If I was able to cast an illusion on an entire army making them seem like Light monsters...
Xan: ... then not even Lady Celestia will be able to see through my illusion. The replica is in place and awaiting your orders.
Sepulchure: The two of us are the only ones that know of the replacement, but the Necromantress is no fool. She might uncover her true role in this.
    Xan: Shall I eliminate her?
Sepulchure: She has not reached the end of her usefulness yet.
    Xan: Bah! You're no fun.
Sepulchure: You have done well, Xan. You may return to your plans regarding Warlic, for now.
    Xan: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
    Xan: *gasp*
    Xan: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

*Scene fades to black as Xan continues to laugh.*
