Ash: Thank the Avatars you found King Alteon and his knights in time, <Character>!
Ash: Xan's army of fire elementals is already attacking from the east and west!
Ash: Speak to the knights to head to the battlefield!
- Leave Quest - launches Leave Quest confirmation box; clicking 'Yes' will teleport player to Falconreach (Books 1 and 2) or player's last saved location.
King Alteon: Go forth, my brave 301st Knight! Falconreach can't be allowed to fall!
King Alteon: Don't forget, we'll celebrate at Serenity's Inn once this business is all dealt with!
Twilly: Oh noes... There's so much fire everywhere! Will Falconreach be okay?
- Heal & potions - fully replenishes HP, MP, and potions.
Western Knight: This way to the western front! Those fire elementals won't get through us!
- To Battle! - teleports player to the Western Front.
Eastern Knight: Ready to head out to the eastern front? The forests are already burning...
- To Battle! - teleports player to the Eastern Front.
*After clearing all fire monsters from either Western or Eastern Front, you return to Falconreach, where it is now partially destroyed by Xan's attack.*
Falconreach - Partially Destroyed
Ash: You managed to clear out some of Xan's army, but more are still on the way!
Ash: ...Everyone's being evacuated to the Guardian Tower for safety.
Ash: But I believe in you, <Character>! Falconreach won't fall while you're here to defend us!
Ash: Now, I need to go find some water buckets!
Leave Quest - launches Leave Quest confirmation box; clicking 'Yes' will teleport player to Falconreach (Books 1 and 2) or player's last saved location.
Twilly: So many knights have needed healing! Be careful out there, <Character>!
- Heal & potions - fully replenishes HP, MP, and potions.
If the player have not cleared the Western Front:
Western Knight: This way to the western front! Those fire elementals won't get through us!
- To Battle! - teleports player to the Western Front.
If the player have cleared the Western Front:
Western Knight: This front's already clear, we're mopping up the stragglers. The other side needs help, though! Hurry!
If the player have not cleared the Eastern Front:
Eastern Knight: Ready to head out to the eastern front? The forests are already burning...
- To Battle! - teleports player to the Eastern Front.
If the player have cleared the Eastern Front:
Eastern Knight: This front's already clear, we're mopping up the stragglers. The other side needs help, though! Hurry!
*After clearing all fire monsters from the other Front, you return to Falconreach, where it is now completely destroyed by Xan's attack.*
Falconreach - Completely Destroyed
*You confront Xan in the burnt ruins of Falconreach.*
Xan: HAHA... HAHAHAHA! This is the end!
Xan: Now... get out of my way so I can finish this.
<Character>: No!
Xan: HAHAH— What?!
<Character>: Your fire monsters have been defeated, and the townsfolk are safe.
<Character>: ...And as long as there's still one unburnt board left in Falconreach to defend... you'll have to get past ME!
Xan: What? You? YOU are going to stop me? HAHAHA Now that is funny!
<Character>: Leave now Xan. This is your last warning.
Xan: HAHAHAHA! I'm trying to figure out who is more insane... me? Or you!?
Xan: Perhaps you have me confused with the undead garbage that attacked here previously!
Xan: You won't last more than a few rounds against my fire magic.
Xan: ...And when I finish you... HAHAHAHA!
Xan: With the power of the Pyronomicon, my flames will engulf every last person and thing in this town!
Xan: Even that stupid Guardian Tower!
<Character>: I don't care what power you have, I have to try! The people of Falconreach are counting on me!
<Character>: For Falconreach!
Xan: HAHA... HAHAHAHAHA!
Battle! - begins battle with Xan.
Heal - fully replenishes HP, MP, and potions.
Run Away! - returns to Falconreach (Books 1 and 2) or player's last saved location.
*You attempt to defeat Xan, only to be defeated.*
Xan: What's this? Still alive? Well well well, you might have proven an interesting challenge...
Xan: ...If I didn't have the power of the mighty Pyronomicon magnifying my abilities!
Xan: Now... HAHAHAHA!! YOU BURN LIKE YOUR TOWN DID!
*As Xan prepares to finish you, a Pyre Spy stops him.*
Pyre Spy: *whisper whisper whisper*
Xan: Oh? Warlic, you say? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! What a wonderful day!
Xan: Too bad for you, hero! I was going to finish you off quickly, but now I must leave you to a slow death.
Xan: Farewell <Character>. I've got a meeting with an old friend that just can't wait! HAHAHAHA! See you in the afterlife!
*Scene fades to black as you slowly die...*
It's so dark…
... why is it so dark...
Over here!
Are we too late?
...is this the end?...
I've never seen anyone hurt this badly...
Can you do anything?
*Suddenly, your HP is recovered by the voices.*
I'm trying!

*Scene fades back in as you regain consciousness, but you are still wounded.*
<Character>: *Blink blink* Wow, did anyone get the number of that gorillaphant that ran over me?
Twilly: It worked! I was able to heal <him/her/them>! That was close, <Character>! Xan nearly finished you off.
<Character>: XAN! Is everyone... Did anyone get hurt?
Serenity: Don't worry <Character>, we're all fine.
Grams: Yeah, we had a few burns but Twilly was able to heal all of us that needed healin'.
Reens: Ash, Cysero and the Guardians are still looking for people in the wreckage and helping who they can.
Yulgar: We weren't able to do much for the town. All that is left is a... single... unburned board.
Cysero's Orb: Hey, you on the ground... want to buy a weapon?
<Character>: Falconreach... is gone. I'm sorry everyone, I really let you down.
Patch: Are ye kiddin'? Ye saved all of us, hero! You were the only one who was able to stand up ta' Xan. We'd be dead if not fer you.
Konnan (thinking): Xan...Even though everyone knows he's insane, he wouldn't burn down an entire town without some reason... So why...?
Aria: Thanks to you, <Character>, we are all alive and well. That's the important thing. We can rebuild Falconreach!
Aria: With everyone pitching in to help, it won't take long at all!
<Character>: You're right! We CAN rebuild it! That single unburned board is all we need to get started.
Yulgar: Just leave it to us <Character>! We'll have Falconreach back to normal in no time!
Reens!: Absolutely!, Grams: Yer darn tootin'!, Patch: Hear hear!, Serenity: Yeah!, Cysero's Orb: Wanna buy a weapon?
<Character>: Thanks everyone. You're the real heroes here!
*As you slowly recover, you notice the disappearance of King Alteon.*
<Character>: Wait, where's King Alteon?
Serenity: Oh... He went back to Swordhaven, already. Since the Inn burned down, well, no one's going to be dining there, at least, for a little while!
<Character>: Ah. I see.
*After a brief pause, Aria asks why you are still laying on the ground.*
Aria: Why are you still laying on the ground?
<Character>: It's actually rather comfortable down here. Now, let's get moving!
*Scene cuts to black.*

Xan was not intended to be defeated; losing or fleeing will progress the quest as normal.
Pop-up headline during the quest:

Quick! Better get back to town— Wait, who's that? Completion of this quest will cause Falconreach (Books 1 and 2) to be rebuilt and unlocks Falconreach Shop in Falconreach Inn (Books 1 and 2).
Quest replaced Xan Bossfight with new dialogue, layout changes, boss mechanics, and a resource reward on May 16th, 2025.
