Gather children, and you'll hear,
Of a tourney held on every year.
Combatants come from far and near,
To challenge each other on fields of fear.

With sword, with bow, with spellbook thick,
They clash and fight, to be pick'd;
By Lords on high who through the quick
affray will watch and Champions pick.

Then one last fight before them all,
and the eyes of those low and tall.
One last hurrah to win the crown,
and hope to avoid the joining of that red ground.


It is time. Registration is now open for the Elemental Championship. To sign up all you need to do is submit an entrant name and element here. Of course, a bio is required for your character as well. It need not be overly developed, but more detailed bios are always helpful to the judges when reviewing the combat threads, as they help the judges understand what your character is capable of, and allow for comparisons between the bio, and what is occurring in the arena. Keep in mind that detailed bios can also work in your favor in the event of a close score/tie between yourself and another competitor.

Now, let's get down to the brass tacks (And a few tips to help out.):
1. Needless to say, but about to be said anyways, this is a combat RP event. That means that your character must engage in combat. Flashbacks and evocative memories are nice, and add to your posts, but are generally unnecessary outside of the character introduction (The first post you make.).
2. Also obvious, but about to be said, this is the Elemental Championship. Atheism is, of course an option, though you are likely to have that belief shattered, but non-alignment is not. Your character must choose a single element to represent. The Elemental Lords are strict in this regard, and do not like combatants who dabble in magics of other elements, or who change allegiance midstream.
3. Naturally, all RP forum rules will be enforced, violators will be immolated, electrocuted, drowned, and pulverized. Survivors will be undone at an atomic level. Lists are kept of violators, and depending on severity, you may be barred from future participation.
4. Collaboration is your friend. Your character is competing against the other entrants, you, as a writer, are not. Feel free to work with other RPers to make collaborative posts, or even work out battle sequences. OOC threads will be provided to ask questions and provide clarification for posts.
5. Activity is important, paramount even. Please do not enter the tournament if you are not committed to staying the course. Nothing is worse than an RPer paralyzed and unable to participate because his or her opponent has gone missing. That said, for the elimination round non-posting for a period of five continuous days by any RPer will be viewed as forfeiture, opening that RPer's character to free kill by any other RPer. Exceptions can be made via PM, contact me if you have concerns.
6. Once your bio is posted, it will be evaluated, and a note of acceptance or rejection will be edited into the post. A list will appear below of accepted and rejected characters, sorted by elemental allegiance, for your convenience. Rejected characters may be resubmitted with editing, but must be resubmitted as a separate post, not an edit. Once the elimination round begins links to each IC and OOC arena will be posted, as well as a list of combatants in each arena.
7. Once submitted, bios may not be edited, the same goes for IC posts within the Arenas. Editing your post makes me think you are trying to pull a fast one on me, and I don't like people trying to pull fast ones on me. If you absolutely must edit, you must clear the edit with me before you make it.
8. Included in your bio must be a space for a link to your first post. You are responsible for editing this link into your bio post after your entrance into whichever arena you are assigned to.
9. I will answer questions as quickly and accurately as I can. Understand that I am the law, I'm in charge, I'm the sheriff around these parts, etc., etc. Backtalk and attempts to argue will be met with strong arm tactics and iron-fisted dictatorship. That said, I hope you have fun, feel free to submit your bio, and have a nice day.

Registration is now open, and will continue until June 23rd, unless there is a large number of applicants. If that is the case, I will close registration and begin the tourney early. The elimination round will begin as soon as registration and approval is finished, and last approximately two weeks. At that point Champions will be announced, and the finals will begin.

Important Addendum
Death has consequences. While it is possible to die in the elimination round and be revived to participate in the finals (which has happened on numerous occasions), death in the finals is permanent. End of the line, finito, etc. There ain't no coming back if you die in the big dance.

Hawthorne was a pirate, a world-renowned pirate. His famous sieges had earned him a legendary bounty that would make the world's nations envious at a glimpse. He had been driven to prove his name, "Hellsbane Hawthorne", after the hard work he had put forth under the command of the previous captain, Death Pirate Nolan. His most recent venture had yielded him the largest bounty of them all, the weight, in fact, pulled his ship so low that it scraped the reefs surrounding the island he now found himself on.

The crash was horrendous. It sent crew members over the bannister, equipment topsy-turvey, and Elias himself into a makeshift cradle, comprised of the main sail and some lucky knotting. This encompassing canvas was Hawthorne's guardian; the only thing that saved him from the nautical doom his shipmates now shared.

After the crash, Elias awoke to find himself with a rugged beard and an empty stomach. He wondered how long he could have been unconcious to cause this seemingly immediate change in appearance, but needed to act using his basic survival skills.

For months, Elias Hawthorne survived on that which he could provide for himself: fruits from the tropical jungle which enumerated the small island, and the small life he could catch both in the water and on land. Throughout time, the sea returned much of his latest loot to him, although it had now become largely unimportant, a fact which sent Hellsbane Hawthorne through an epiphany all its own.

Now, as he sat and contemplated both the events of the past, and the up-and-coming Elemental Championship, Elias found himself filled with an encouraging fire. He laughed hysterically as he pranced about. The inspirational fire pushed Elias to try and escape the island once again. He had been completely discouraged after countless attempts to evade the various reefs, whirlpools, and wildlife which had inspired an awe of the Sea into the once rebelious scallywag but now seemed miniscule in his eyes.

Hawthorne raced into the jungle and gathered various supplies. He collected coconuts, bamboo shoots, vines, leaves, mud, and other useful supplies. Once he had collected a sufficient amount of components, he set to building his ferry to freedom. He tied bamboo shoots together with vines, bound coconuts around to add buoyancy, and created a floor of leaves and mud to keep water below him.

The project took days as he continued to perfect his raft. Finally, it was time to test it out. With a crazed shout he pulled the hulking craft into the receeding waves. As the water overtook the sandy beach, Elias watched as his floor of dried mud and leaves successfully bulwarked the seas impossible grasp.

With this hopeful sign, he swiftly jumped aboard and watched as the waves carried him out a ways before bringing him back to the island. The waves' cycle had not surprised him, nor had his boat's endurance. Nay, better. Never had he created a finer escape raft, perhaps this was to be the successful voyage.

He set about to making his equipment. Using the loot which now cluttered the beach, Elias melted down the gold and combined it with crabs claws, turtle shells, coconuts, rocks, and other local agents as he began to craft his battle attire.

Before setting off, he gathered a shrine he had created to the water beings and mounted it atop his ship. He now set off in the direction of the cheers. Perhaps now, he would have the nautical ones' blessings and he would find safe passage to civilization. Elemental Championship, prepare yourself for Elias "Hellsbane" Hawthorne...

Heh. Funny thing is Sheriff Duncan, after writing all that, you haven't clearly stated the element you're representing. :)

It's seems pretty obvious though... Earth right? :P

I always seem to return in time for the EC and since I competed in the last 3 championships, it would be a shame to miss out on this one. For once I think I'll try something other than Earth.

Good luck running the EC this year Kell, I'm certain it's no small task

Actually, I have stated a few times his newly found devotion to the water beings, meaning that his element of choice is Water.

Although, given I did need to edit slightly due to forgetful proofreading.

Elias Hawthorne will be acting as a champion of water.

I hope I didn't sound rude Sheriff Duncan, my intention was not to offend and I did gather rather easily that Elias Hawthorne was a potential champion of water. I would suggest however simply adding to your bio a line saying 'Choosen element: Water' or something to that effect, simply to make it easier for people reading your bio. Speaking from experience, in the EC, people generally look at 2 things in the bio: The name of the RPer and the element they are representing. Everything else is secondary. To make the information easily apparent is helpful to everyone.

I do apologise again if anything I said or say comes across as rude or patronising, that is bad writing, not bad manners I assure you.

Havoc's return. He was my first and third entrant. First time he was disqualified, third he surrendered. Seeing as he didn't get thrown out last time, I believe the days of him being a godmodder are long gone.

Name: Shaovic the Performer
Element: Darkness
-Equipment-
Knives in his sleeves, connected by flexible, cut-proof string to his fingers.
A deck of cards. The edges are dull enough that you can grab them, but they sharpen when thrown.
Magic Bombs Mk 2. These bombs ignite when exposed to elemental magic. When they erupt, the effects of the fragmentation are augmented with the elements absorbed. Nonmagical elements will not be absorbed, meaning the fuse can be extinguished with nonmagical water. These have been altered to allow opposing elements to cooperate in the explosion rather than cancelling one another out.
A silver rapier. Nothing special.
Smoke bombs.
A normal iron needle, balanced and aerodynamic.
--Abilities--
Shaovic is an acrobat, able to leap and fall great heights, balance exceptionally, contort himself beyond typical flexibility, and a few other feats of that sort.
Further, he can feed his darkness magic into anything he touches. This allows him to imbue his bombs with darkness, as well as manipulate the movements of the knives on his strings.

Brief History:
After having entered and exited the EC a few times, Havoc took a year to quest for his true name; the very one that had been stolen from him by the Mask of Domnu. After a great many trials, he has returned to be called by his natural born name, Shaovic. This year he enters the arena once more, but this time purely for sport.

Rejected. Havoc has proven himself to be an overpowered character on two separate occasions. I also note that Havoc no longer exists, as he was destroyed, much like in the rules, at an atomic level due to gross violations of the RP forum rules. Additionally, I am reminded of a note I forgot to add to the first post, but will shortly append.

I believe you are mistaken. Havoc entered twice. The second time, he was NOT disqualified, and no one seemed to feel he was especially powerful. The first time, he was not banished to the reaches of unplayable.

I will confer with Ronin concerning the status of Havoc, and review the logs of previous ECs. That being said, Havoc is still banned from participation in the EC. If you wish to enter you may do so with a different character.

Further review of the records confirms that Havoc is still alive, albeit most likely permanently scarred. However, despite this, and consistent with my previous statement, Havoc is banned from the EC. As previously stated, you are welcome to enter another character.

I shall be short, sweet, and to the point here.

'07 - Kenzoku enters Berzerk. Berzerk gets DQ'd due to Godmodding. I am rather pissed that year at several such instances, but take extreme pleasure in describing the burning agony involved in the "Exit Stage Immediate" that Berzerk is subjected towards.

'08 - Kenzoku enters Havoc, whom is Berzerk, but without the mask and *stripped down* in terms of items/ability. I reluctantly agree, and pointedly warn Kenzoku not to even dream of repeating the shenanigans involved with Berzerk. Havoc proceeds to run more of an internal monolouge than performing actual combat. It is an attempt at snark and wit, but fails to impress.

'09 - Kenzoku runs F'thear K'Bar, an illithid, and immediately draws several concerns. He proceeds to flirt far too much with the borderlines, but manages (just) not to get DQ'd before Dropoffs close. I am incredibly NOT pleased.

'10 - Kell takes over the Directorship of the Elemental Championships. Kenzoku attempts to re-enter Havoc. Havoc has a much expanded item and ability list compared to '08. Havoc is barred by Kell, and continues to be barred after the actual details are discussed with myself. I find myself inclined to support Kell, and in fact do so, via this post.

Name: Not-As-Big-As-Medium-Sized-Jim-But-Bigger-Than-Wee-Jim Jim
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Age: 33

Element: Air
Weapon: Warhammer on a wind chain
Appearance: Short black hair with heavy grey, grizzled look, one eye missing and permanently closed but no eye-patch, well-knit but tall and thin. Appears far too thin to be able to wield the massive hammer. Sleeveless vest, dark pants with leather knee pads and shin guards, heavy leather boots.


SUMMARY BIO: Ed is fast. Very fast. He's fast enough that he can produce after images of himself when dodging or attempting to confuse his enemies. His speed, however, has its own disadvantages. Stopping can be an issue on slick surfaces. So can maintaining your balance when stopping suddenly. While useful in open spaces he needs to be careful in close quarters. Flickering from side to side is fine, but to put on any REAL speed he would need an open plain. He also carries a hammer. A BIG hammer. The hammer is roughly six feet long in the handle and has a head as wide as his shoulders. One side of the head has a spike for piercing while the other is flat for, well, hammering. Ed's hammer is not magical. The chain attached to the handle, however, is. If you look really closely and maybe squint your eyes a lot and if the sun hits it just right you might think you saw the glimmer of something that just might possibly have been the links of a chain. It's a chain of air. A gift from a passing Priestess of Wind (who always looks so confused when people laugh at her upon her introduction as a "passing Wind") when Ed had swiftly relayed a message to her from a dieing man, this chain is unbreakable through normal means by virtue of it not even really existing. It can stretch as far as Ed can throw, and it is useful for retrieving his hammer once thrown. The chain is generated by a special glove that Ed wear on his right hand. While the enchantment cannot be permanently dispelled, it CAN be disrupted through the use of magic. Once disrupted, Ed's glove much touch the handle of the hammer to re-form the chain.

Ed is a lover of life, as are all of his family. As such, he drinks, he laughs, he sings loud and off-key and he eats until the table is empty. He is a jovial sort, weathered from the elements of the north and with only the clothing on his back, Ed lacks nothing in life. He has his family, and there's enough of it that even if he's upset with one member there are plenty more for him to get sick of instead. He has entered the Championship to test his own abilities and to bring honor to the Regular Irregulars.


Abilities: Shockwaves (produced by hammer impact and swing. Ground Pound results in circular shockwave expanding from epicenter. Force of shockwave increases when hammer is struck from greater heights. Directional shockwaves from underhand or diagonal sweeps can be instantaneous or powered up, but powering them takes time. Useful for deflecting projectiles and pushing back opponents. Shockwaves are not physically damaging), Reversal of impact (kinetic force of impact launches the wielder instead of the victim. Useful for leaping to great heights and for escaping quickly), Wind Flicker (bursts of increased speed and after images, used to confuse enemy and to escape, can only be used when not off-balance), Long Arm (Throws hammer, wind chain allows hammer to be retracted OR to pull wielder towards hammer at high speed)


Background: Not-As-Big-As-Medium-Sized-Jim-But-Bigger-than-Wee-Jim Jim, or "Ed" as he's more commonly known, comes from a large family. Actually, calling it large is like saying the ocean is wet; it hardly even scratches the surface. Ed's family is, for lack of a better word, ginormous. This isn't to say that his mother gave birth to all of his siblings, oh no. She likely would have died from sheer exhaustion before she'd birthed her twentieth! No, Ed's family is unique. He was an orphan, and as orphans often do he had gravitated towards larger groups of orphans. These groups had, in turn, joined up with other large groups until eventually the local king realized that they had become large enough to be considered a moderate sized army. Since a group of hungry, desperate people of that size could pose a serious risk of rebellion (not to mention doing terrible things to the local property values), the king realized that he had but one choice.

And so it was that the group of orphaned children were hired to become the local militia, under the of title of The Regular Irregulars. This, of course, meant that the group was given its very own headquarters in a large hall on the far side of the kingdom (and as far away from the king as possible), along with the daunting task of keeping the kingdom's border secure against the barbarian hoards of the north. (In actuality, there were no barbarians to the north, but since the King couldn't very well have the group executed without a public outcry and a very messy courtyard he had opted to tell the children that there were) Needless to say, the group took its new task quite seriously and trained vigorously to be ready for any attack. A result, the children grew into unique and powerful warriors. Being completely without any form of instruction in combat or warfare meant that each person developed their own abilities, resulting in the Irregulars being even MORE irregular than initially thought possible. However, it is also to be noted that not once has any barbarian ever succeeded in invading the kingdom from the north.

Now we come to Ed. He is, as his name shows, of a fairly modest size; for a Jim that is. The Jims of the family were the largest of all of the Irregulars, with even Wee Jim being taller than any of the non-Jims. Ed stands at roughly six-eight, and is of a rather slim build (for his height). As such, he is much quicker on his feet than the other Jims, with Wee Jim being much stockier and thereby slower, and is often employed by the group as a messenger. Back and forth he would run, from lookout to lookout, relaying the message back to headquarters. I say 'the message' because, after thirty years of no invasion attempts, the group had decided to save paper. Instead of individual messages, they had one rolled up piece of parchment, yellowed with age, that read simply, "All Clear on the (insert name) flank." Ed's job was important, because he needed to be fast enough to get the message to the next outpost in time for him to pick it up and bring it back. For this he trained every day, getting faster and faster, lugging his massive hammer along with him in case of surprise attack.

One day a passing warrior from the king's army happened to come across Ed as he was making his rounds. Everyone in the kingdom knew that the king had lied to the children about the barbarians, but since nobody wanted to have a group of noisy, ale swilling and often smelly men and women living next door they had all decided to stay mum on the matter. This warrior, however, is amazed at the speed that Ed moves with and is even more impressed by the man's apparent strength to be able to carry about a hammer that appears to weigh even more than its owner. He informs Ed of the upcoming Elemental Championships and encourages the man to try his luck, hoping to see at least one member of the Irregulars escape the doom that the King had foisted upon them. While hesitant at first (who else would be able to run the message back and forth, after all?), Ed eventually agreed, especially once the warrior presented him with a gift of Sending Stones, a curious sets of magical stones that allow people to send their thoughts back and forth across great distances.

Having installed the stones in each outpost and within the headquarters, Ed was freed of his obligation. He made his way to the city with the encouragement of his siblings, determined to make known the glory of the Regular Irregulars.

Equipment:

Enchanted rapier- An elaborately designed rapier, with enchantments to make it extremely durable and for it to serve as a focus for Florindo’s Explosion Point ability.

Heat resistant trousers- For modesty’s sake.

Abilities:

Fighting Skills- Florindo uses a very fast style of swordplay similar to fencing, focusing on fast, precise blows that leave little time for counter attack. He also uses a style of unarmed combat that follows the same principles, which would be reminiscent of boxing, although with a few limited options for kicks and lower body blows.

Explosion Point- As a regular attack from a suitably enchanted weapon, or a blow from Florindo’s own body, connects with an opponent, Florindo can cause a small but damaging explosion at the point of impact. The explosion can hurt Florindo.

Heat Blast- Florindo sends a wave of heat foward towards a target. The temperature, range and size of this blast depends on the amount of effort Florindo puts into the attack.

Overheat- Florindo heats his own body up to red-hot temperatures, meaning that opponents cannot touch him without burning themselves. While using this ability, Florindo cannot use any other magical abilities and tires very quickly.

Fire based magic- Florindo has some rudimentary knowledge of common fire based magics, although he would not call upon this knowledge in anything other than desperate circumstances due to his inexperience using it.

Appearance
Din is a red-haired man with a tough, wiry frame. His skin is tanned from years spent beneath the ocean sun. His eyes are an enchanting shade of green and seem at once to be both lightly dancing and darkly appraising. His thin lips are most often found pulled tight in a knowing smirk, as if nothing in this world could surprise him, and are ringed with a thick, but precisely trimmed circle beard. His hair is short-cut and neat, not extending below his ears.

Clothing/Equipment
Like most Privateers, Din's personal taste in clothing is a little... eccentric. He wears a white shemagh around his neck like a scarf, unless he's in battle, in which case he wraps his head with it, hiding everything but his eyes. He's quite skilled at donning in, able to do it with only one hand. He wears a simple leather vest on his shoulders, embossed with gold images of a King Heron, his icon and also the namesake of his ship. His legs are covered with loose, off-white canvas trousers tucked into supple leather boots designed for climbing a ship's rigging rather than for travel.
On his belt, he keeps five small pouches, each stamped with the King Heron design. Inside are collections of small fragile glass vials, each filled with a strange liquid, and each with its own purpose. Some flare brightly when smashed, others create explosions of smoke or distracting noises. Others still are meant to be smeared on a blade or splashed on opponents to irritate or burn on skin and in wounds.
Also, a kris and saber are sheathed on it at the small of his back and left hip respectively. While the saber is not unusual, the kris is enchanted to grant its wielder the ability to freely manipulate up to five gallons of any freestanding liquid it touches.

Skills/Abilities
Din Jackspers is lithe and light on his feet, and his muscles are strong and toned from use. This lends itself to a very dynamic and acrobatic fighting style using both saber and kris simultaneously, both weapons he has extensive practice in using. Aside from his physical abilities, he has no magical or supernatural power.

Description of Ability:
Magic Ring - Generates light either in the form of a strong laser, a bright glow, or an illusionary figure.
Conjuration - Though trained in no more than rudimentary use of most weapons, Russell can conjure whichever he might need. This is not limited to weapons, but he is unable to conjure anything longer than a claymore or wider than a tower shield. Conjured items vanish the moment Russell loses focus on them.
Wings - In the sunlight, Russell can direct the energy of the sun's rays into generating a pair of wings. These are tied to his will so that he may direct his flight.
Photophilia - In the light, Russell is naturally as strong and fast as one much more athletic than himself would be. Additionally, this allows him to regenerate like a troll.

Backstory:
Russell is a conjurer of great merit. His ring was granted to him by the Lord of Light for banishing a powerful Nosferatu, and only wizards of light can use it. He seeks to further the glory of his Lord by his competition, and nothing more.

Could you be a bit clearer about the regeneration ability? Troll-like regeneration can mean several things, and I'll need some details before I come to a final decision.

Troll regeneration means he regenerates very quickly from wounds. Scratches close up immediately, flesh wounds become tender fresh skin after a minute or two, and lost limbs return after an hour without combat or a day with it. Wounds made by fire or burning weapons do not regenerate at this enhanced rate, and limbs removed by these effects likely won't return at all without some sort of healing spell that recovers limbs.
Again, this only works for him in sunlight.
How much sunlight, like a cloudless day?

Another applicant :D I'll side with earth. I've been wanting to use this character for a looong time.

Name: Tyon Adrei
Race: Human.
Gender: Male.
Age: Around his thirties.
Alignment: Earth.

First post.

Appearance: If you saw him dressed like a peasant, you wouldn't look at him again - With 1'75m of height and 70 kg, he is not particularily tall and a bit on the thin side, and his military cropped hair and hazelnut eyes are pretty much standard as well, though he might be a bit too pale for a normal person. Then again, looks are deeply misleading. A more careful inspection will point out that most of that weight is owed to muscular mass, which means that even though he isn't very big, he's quite strong. There's also the fact that when he fights he doesn't wear run of the mill clothes, but instead has chosen to wear some leather pants, and only for the sake of decency. When in this quite reduced garment, it's pretty much obvious that there is something special about him, since there is a large obsidian shard, polished and shiny, lodged vertically in his chest, overlapping with the sternum and reaching nearly to his navel.

History: Born and raised as a miner in a mining town, little did Tyon expect to become a champion of the Earth element. Throughout his life, all he'd expected was to get a familiy and make ends meet month after month - however, a sudden earthquake changed it all. Trapped within his own mines under a pile of rubble, even Tyor is uncertain of whether Earth appeared before him or he just hallucinated it. Whatever the truth is, this changed his life, of course. As his dying heartbeats started running out, a large shard of obsidian made its way to his chest. The excruciating pain of having it become one with him only reminded the miner that he was alive and, when the shard had finally finished whatever it was it did, he somehow found himself pushing the rocks on top of him away. Walking out of the mine, he left his little village without a single goodbye - it was clear he'd been chosen for something by the Earth Mother herself, and whatever that might be, it was clear that he was as good as dead for his townsfolk - so why not let them think he was?

After learning of the Elemental tournaments, he felt that winning those might've been the objective the Earth had set upon him. Perhaps it was only his wishful thinking, but he started training daily after that, improving his control over the superhuman skills that the shard had granted him until it was all but unconscious to use its powers, and then some more, until he felt ready to face the challenge.

Skills/Abilities:

Beyond what a normal human can do, Tyon possesses a few extra powers he's achieved thanks to the shard in him. The simplest one is a basic boost in strength, allowing him to strike harder and move faster, but others are slightly more complex. For starters, he can summon obsidian into his body from the earth. Of course, the larger the part of his body in contact with earth the more the obsidian he can absorb at the same time. Once the obsidian is in his body, he can manipulate it - breaking it, moving it around, or preparing for it to leave through some part of his flesh. This last part is extremely important since, while he can cause any shard of obsidian to leave his body in any direction, if he hasn't prepared for it, he'll be harmed by his own attack. He can also make a shard shatter and 'explode', breaking and spreading in all directions - including his own, which is why he'll rarely use this ability. He does not know where the shards he uses for this ability come from, but he never seems to run out of them - he assumes there's a moving deposit underneath him at all times, but that'd be a very odd circumstance. His summoned obsidian, while stronger than the normal kind, is still weaker than other metals, though it is extremely sharp.

Also, he can manipulate other minerals found in the earth, though he cannot summon them, absorb them, or shatter them. He can change their shapes with direct contact, but that's it.

As for his combat skills, he's a fast and strong fighter, lacking the insane endurance other Earth fighters have. He is highly skilled at hand to hand combat, being able to stand his ground against an armed opponent of quite skill, and he is, obviously, skilled at using his magical abilities both in combat and out of it.

Fine, fine, I'll be all shush-like and show you my gear. Yep, that's it. The clothes on my back and yep, yep - that contraption. Nothing complicated about it, though. See? Just a hefty metal stick with two scoops on either end. This side, I use for bashing out faces. Hah! You need to work on your reaction time, buddy. Don't worry, that nose'll heal. And this - this end I use to rip out whatever energies a mage has charged into his spell, and reduce them to a pure, crystalized form. A form that I can then fling around like nobody's business. It's quite a sight! Well, half of it is watching those baby mages whimper when you rip through their latest spell, but the balls of energy can be pretty-pretty too, yeah?

Oh, and that's it? Well, see you around then - and be sure to bet on the winner! I'm sure you can use the extra gold if the best you can do with your life is stand around in armor and look pret-- nah, scratch that last bit. Just standing around.


And so it begins. Or, more specifically, and so I START IT.

The devil is in the details, specifically the lack thereof. So you steal magical energy from spells, how much can you handle at one time, what happens if you take too much?

Choosing an element was hard, for some reason. Hope this bio's fine. =)

Name: Anfur Tarkin-Appalachi

Gender: Male

Age: 29

Element of Participation: Wind

Class: Assassin.

Any abilities that require elaboration: Usually attacking someone from behind, Anfur tries to execute the “Hit and Run” tactic (attack the enemy and flee to safer ground). Unfortunately for him, arenas aren't very fitting for that type of attack, as are wide and open fields. In arenas he tries to examine his opponent, hoping to find a suitable defense tactic. Rushes directly at the opponent, with his gauntlet, sometimes throwing in one of his daggers.

Not a specific ability that I could think about. Let me know if I should define anything else.

Vital Statistics:
Height: 1.84m
Weight: 74kg

Weaponry: He has a gauntlet attached to his right arm. It is claw-like when it reaches the fingertips, while the base is golden with two grey /metal/ stripes. There is an opening in the center, which in some way filters air (magically) and cools down Anfur's hand. Like an air conditioner inside of a gauntlet. It relaxes the hand. Other than that he carries several daggers in his belt pockets. They're concealed by his jacket.

Secondary physical description: Anfur has a very slim body, due to gene heritage. Both his father and grandfather weren't very muscular, but they were very brave and intelligent. Anfur only had the will to advance his body and try not to let his setbacks stop him. Lots of hours of training seemed to have payed off, though he still lacks muscular appearance. Anfur has long, uncut hair, which stretches down to his hips. The hair is placed between his jacket and back, so it appears much shorter. Always wears a brown, leather jacket and pants.


Personality: Usually calm with nerves of steel, Anfur is hardly angered and tries to evade verbal conflicts. Very brave, though he thinks he's very skilled. It's a weakness which sometimes cost him a battle and caused injuries. It is something he can't control. It is usually underestimating the enemy, thinking he/she is much weaker.

Speaks directly to people and is very quick when announcing anything. Has arachnophobia due to childhood problems. Anfur is also very saddened by mentioning of tragic moments, such as a divorce or death of a dear friend or family member.


Background: Anfur's whole family was dedicated to tapping the magical powers and strengths of Wind magic. Even though most if not all of his brethren were Mages or Priests, Anfur was inspired to become an assassin due to games he played in his childhood, most of which he used to run and hide. Years after, once it was time to leave his family home and go search for a place to study and unleash his potential of Wind magic, he announced that he'd use the wind to give him speed and stealth, not “magical tricks” as he called them.

He settled in a small coastal village, famous for many fishing competitions and the cheerful population. Being very direct and open-minded, Anfur, shortly after moving in, found an assassin who was just passing by. Anfur enjoyed having him as company and was able to convince him to become his mentor. Three years after, he died. The things Anfur learned helped him strive, let it be in an assault in the village or an ambush in the near forests. Roaming the town streets alone he heard of rumors of a Championship far away, in which represents of many elements collide in an epic struggle to show their might. Setting off for an unknown journey, Anfur hoped to find the so-called Arenas of which that person spoke of.
