Dialogue *At the Haven, you and Kara SuLema are greeted by Mritha and Srazhenie.* Mritha: Welcome to the Haven, Kara. And... you, I don't believe I've met? Kara SuLema: It's good to see you safe, Mritha. This is <Character>, the hero of Falconreach! <Character>: It's nice to meet you, Mritha. Mritha: Likewise. I've heard many stories of your exploits before you were frozen. I look forward to working with you. Kara SuLema: Mritha is a DragonLord, and together with her partner, Odgne, she has been helping us protect the Haven and the dravir who live here. Mritha: And it seems we've finally been able to open the doors. Although I do wish it were under less dire circumstances. Srazhenie: Hmph. Lady Mritha and Odgne have shown themselves worthy of our respect... Srazhenie: ...but your Vind have done nothing but bring us a rabble of clawkin. Srazhenie: Liabilities. Kara SuLema: I apologize, Srazhenie, but the clawkin had nowhere else to go. Kara SuLema: Should you have us, though, we will help to defend the Haven as though it were our own. Srazhenie: And in doing so brought the enemy closer to our walls! Srazhenie: I... Srazhenie: I... As guests of Lady Mritha, I will refrain from... being disrespectful. Srazhenie: I will take my leave. Lady Mritha, the guests are in your care. *Mritha glances back towards Srazhenie with apprehension.* Mritha: Kara, <Character>, please forgive Srazhenie. As Kara is well aware, most of the dravir are slow to trust, and for good reason. Kara SuLema: Their history is tragic and full of conflict. I understand their fear of betrayal all too well. <Character>: I'm afraid I don't know much, if anything about dravir history. What happened to them? Mritha: For most of their recorded existence, the dravir were enslaved by dragons. Mritha: Their recorded existence, that is. The dragons erased whatever culture had come before, and the dravir only knew slavery and subservience. Mritha: It wasn't until the elemental wars over a thousand years ago that some dravir managed to escape. Mritha: And even then... Mritha: They were directionless. All they knew was slavery. Mritha: Even now, there are dravir who believe the dragons to be their creators... Mritha: ...although some of the old artifacts we have discovered suggest otherwise. Mritha: And while the rule of dragons is no longer as widespread as it once was... Mritha: ...many dravir still dread their return, and are thus exceptionally wary of any potential threats. Mritha: It took quite some time for them to trust me and especially my dragon partner Odgne... Mritha: ...but that they could, gives me hope that they may become great allies to the Vind in times to come. <Character>: Wow. That really does explain a lot. Mritha: I hope so. If what is said about you is true, I can only imagine you've come across enslaved or "lost" dravir in your adventures. <Character>: I certainly have clashed with them in the past, multiple times. Mritha: They were given no choice but to fight, just as you were given no choice but to defend yourself. Mritha: The dravir here understand that, and will not hold it against you. *A brief pause allows you to process what Mritha has just revealed to you about the Dravir.* Kara SuLema: This history lesson has been wonderful, Mritha, but the Rose offensive is surely imminent. Do you have any word of the dragons? Mritha: Yes, and it is not looking good. I don't know how, but they are definitely on the scent of Haven. Mritha: I suspect the involvement of The Rose. While they do not have the means to communicate with the dragons... Mritha: ...it's possible they're attempting to make use of them to entrap the dravir into an alliance or worse. Kara SuLema: We can't let that happen! If the dravir attempt to ally with The Rose, they'll end up like the clawkin! Mritha: Then on that front it is fortunate that you arrived before The Rose did. Mritha: The fear of the dragons drives the dravir to desperation, and we would rather have them turn to us than The Rose for aid. *Kara does not appear to share Mritha's views.* Kara SuLema: You make us sound so... manipulative. I don't know if I'm comfortable forcing– Mritha: I am stating the facts of the situation. Mritha: Manipulative or not, you are the leader of the Vind, Kara, and I suggest you take the opportunities that present themselves. Mritha: Speaking of which, <Character>, I have a task for you. The stories say that you are bonded with a dragon. Is that true? <Character>: That's correct. Their name is <Dragon>! Mritha: And where is <Dragon> at this moment? <Character>: Probably taking a nap in Falconreach. Why? Mritha: The dravir were impressed with the bond I have with Odgne- not of master and servant, but as partners and friends. Mritha: Perhaps seeing you and <Dragon> would earn you and the Vind more of their respect. Mritha: But do hurry. I'm sure The Rose and the dragons will not wait for you to return. <Character>: I'll do my best! Mritha: In the meantime, we'll try to explain the situation to the dravir. Maybe with some careful words, we can come to some agreement... One quick trip to Falconreach later... <Character>: So... that's what's happening. And we could all use your help! If you have a Dragon Amulet: <Dragon>: I don't care if they're dragons or flowers! I'll stop the bad guys! <Character>: The Rose aren't actually flowers. You met Magus Hansa, remember? <Dragon>: She smelled like flowers, though. <Character>: Did she? Wait, no, we can't get distracted. Come on, <Dragon>, we've got a Haven to defend! <Dragon>: Let's do this! If you don't have a Dragon Amulet: <Dragon>: *Protective dragon noises* <Character>: That's what I thought! Come on, <Dragon>, we've got a Haven to defend! <Dragon>: *Determined growl* Ash: Oh, hey, <Character>! Hey, <Dragon>– *Ash appears shocked as you and your dragon race by him hurriedly.* Ash: Huh. Ash: I feel like I'm missing out on something big. <Dragon> joins you as a pet. *You fight your way through the Betrubung Swamp back to the Haven with your dragon.* Srazhenie: That is the reality of the situation, then. Kara SuLema: Yes. I apologize that the epicenter must fall on the Haven, but if The Rose is leading the dragons here... Srazhenie: Then we are caught in a vise. And it seems our wings are forced. Bajacu': The clawkin who are able will lend their aid. Bajacu': We have already pledged to The Vind, and as the dravir have given us shelter, no matter how reluctantly, we must repay that debt. Niki: We will defend the Haven whether you want us here or not. We'd prefer to be here with your blessing, though. *Srazhenie pauses to contemplate the Vind's words.* Srazhenie: Hmph. It seems as though we have no choice. The Rose would threaten us with dragons, while you would take responsibility for your actions. The choice is clear. Srazhenie: We of the Haven will accept your support. Srazhenie: However, with such paltry numbers, I have little confidence in our success in fighting this battle on two fronts. Srazhenie: No, even with your aid, this may still be hopeless... <Character>: Am I late to the meeting? Kara SuLema: No, you're just in time, <Character>! And this must be... If you have a Dragon Amulet: <Dragon>: I'm <Dragon>! Hello! Mritha: This... This is <Dragon>? <Dragon>: Surprised, purple lady? Mritha: I mean no offense, but you sounded a lot... larger in the stories. <Character>: Oh no– <Dragon>: Excuse me!? I'll have you know that I'm still a growing young dragon! And I'm plenty ferocious! <Dragon>: <Character>, can I breathe fire on this one, please? Mritha: Please excuse my disrespect, mighty <Dragon>! If you don't have a Dragon Amulet: <Dragon>: *Greetings chirp* Mritha: It's nice to meet you too, <Dragon>! <Dragon>: *Diminutive yet impressive roar* Mritha: Yes, those enemies won't know what hit them, indeed! Srazhenie: <Character>. This young dragon is your... friend? <Character>: Yes. We've been through so much together. Even saved the world a few times! Srazhenie: The need for dragons to control and rule runs deep within them. Srazhenie: That we have now seen another instance of dragon and person as friends is... Srazhenie: Haha. Hahaha! I am ever amazed by the wonders that Lore brings. Srazhenie: It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance, <Dragon>. <Dragon>: Hello, lizard person! | *Greetings grumble* Srazhenie: With such allies at our side, I think we might actually stand a chance! A small one, but let us prepare. Mritha: Don't worry. We'll push back The Rose. They won't breach the Haven! *Meanwhile, in Swordhaven, Akanthus is having a conversation with a Rose Agent.* Rose Agent: It seems The Vind got to the dravir settlement earlier than expected, General. Akanthus: And what of the dragons? Rose Agent: Still hot on the trail we laid out for them, sir. Akanthus: A shame that the political option has been removed. Rose Agent: Sir? Akanthus: Prepare the forces to attack the Haven. And when the dragons get there, see if you can put some of Z's new tools to work. Rose Agent: Understood, sir. Akanthus: The Sanctuary... The Haven... Wherever they flee, whatever they name it... Akanthus: They are dangers to Lore. Unpredictable pockets just waiting to explode. Rose Agent: ... Akanthus: But of course you understand that. Akanthus: Do not fail me. Rose Agent: I will not, General Akanthus! Sir! Complete Quest Loot for DCs - opens CiaV Loot for DCs shop.
