Dialogue
Dragonsgrasp (Books 1 and 2)

Captain Lestrad: And just where do you think you're going?

  • Talk
Captain Lestrad: This is a prison, not a museum. While you're wandering about, some of us have work to do.
Captain Lestrad: I suppose you've met our prisoner, Vilmor? *spits* Any DragonLord that would harm their dragon...
Captain Lestrad: And Doyle just sits in the Inn, daydreaming. With him in charge of the case, we may never know the full extent of Vilmor's villany.

    An Icy Wind

    Captain Lestrad: <Character>, welcome.

    Captain Lestrad: Vilmor.

Captain Lestrad: All the dragons are in flight!

Captain Lestrad: Vilmor is gone. Doyle, you fool...
Captain Lestrad: Your whole job was to investigate that villain.
Captain Lestrad: How could you not know that Vilmor was capable of such power? <Character> nearly lost her/his head!

    Captain Lestrad: Through sheer luck.

Captain Lestrad: Bah. Why now? Where could Vilmor be going?

    The Chase

Lestrad: <Character> has been gone for far too long. While we wait, Vilmor gathers power.
Lestrad: I will not wait any longer!

    Betrayal

    Lestrad: I think you're done.
Lestrad: Good job, <Character>, you've managed to capture Vilmor and this half-elf traitor....

    Lestrad: Vilmor, you--

    Lestrad: But... but....

Lestrad: After everything? We should throw you back in jail!

    Dragonsgrasp (Book 3)

Captain Lestrad: First the refugees, now elves and the Rose running around...
Captain Lestrad: This is a fortress, not a theme park. I've got my eye on them. All of them.
Captain Lestrad: We might have decommissioned the lava pit, but the prison still has plenty of room...

    Speaker and Slayer

Captain Lestrad: What is the meaning of this, Mritha?
Captain Lestrad: You strong-arm your way into my fortress at the head of an army of elves and Rose, and for what?
Captain Lestrad: When you put on such a show of leaving, I was under the impression that it was to be a more permanent arrangement.

Captain Lestrad: And yet, the DragonLords do not need the rest of Lore.
Captain Lestrad: So long as we reside in the protective embrace of The Great One, we have nothing to fear.

Captain Lestrad: That sounds like a logistical problem from Greenguard, not a matter for Dragonsgrasp.

Captain Lestrad: Indeed. Dragonsgrasp is... open to you.

Captain Lestrad: The mountain. Nothing more.

Captain Lestrad: How did- That is confidential information of the highest–

Captain Lestrad: Inspector, you cannot simply reveal all of our secrets to these... these... guests.

Captain Lestrad: That is quite enough, Doyle!

    Captain Lestrad: ...How could I?

    Captain Lestrad: ...
Captain Lestrad: You have made your point.
Captain Lestrad: Very well. If you wish to seek out the Speaker- that is, the human liaison to The Great One, I believe you will find him on patrol on the crater's rim.
Captain Lestrad: He is a Dragonslayer by the name of Galanoth.

Captain Lestrad: This is... acceptable then? No loud objections, Mritha?

Captain Lestrad: Then we will follow, as The Great One commands.

    Reasons to Fight

Captain Lestrad: Hold on. Hold on!
Captain Lestrad: Speaker...you're a former companion of <Character>, are you not?

Captain Lestrad: A Speaker is not infallible, as you may well remember from years prior.

Captain Lestrad: Well, Speaker? Do you have any proof that this is not a fabrication of convenience?

Captain Lestrad: I promised to listen to the words of The Great One. And I have yet to hear them.

    Captain Lestrad: I do not–

    Captain Lestrad: ...

Captain Lestrad: If The Great One commands it to be so, it shall be so.

Captain Lestrad: We shall assist you, members of the Greenguard Alliance.
Captain Lestrad: Sir Baumbard, organize the flights.

Captain Lestrad: The DragonLords fly for Dragesvard!

    In Search of Slayers

Captain Lestrad: The scouts have reported a dense nest of fungal growth covering the city. We'll need—

Captain Lestrad: The Great One ordered the DragonLords to aid the Greenguard Alliance in retaking Dragesvard.
Captain Lestrad: Naturally, as the greater force, the DragonLords will lead the charge.
Captain Lestrad: And as Captain of the DragonLords, I am therefore in the commanding position.
Captain Lestrad: Is that going to be a problem?

Captain Lestrad: DragonLord, I asked you a question! Is my command going to be a problem?

    Captain Lestrad: Good to hear.

Captain Lestrad: As I was saying...
Captain Lestrad: ...the fungal growth has covered the city. We can try to burn it away with dragon fire, but such magic asks a lot of our partners.
Captain Lestrad: As such, I propose we enter the city and search for any information that may allow us to reclaim the city from the inside.

Captain Lestrad: You're from The Rose, right? We definitely don't need advice from the likes of you.

Captain Lestrad: If there aren't any more interruptions, then let's get this expedition started.
Captain Lestrad: DragonLords, to the front. We'll be taking the main streets, along with our guides.
Captain Lestrad: Meanwhile, you Alliance folk will seek out whatever remains of the DragonSlayers.
Captain Lestrad: See if we can get some allies with a better understanding of the situation.
Captain Lestrad: Meanwhile, we'll have the dragons burning away at the top in shifts.
Captain Lestrad: We cannot allow this to spread any farther!
    Captain Lestrad: Move out!

    Roots of Change

Captain Lestrad: Ah, finally. There you are! Took your time strolling through the ruins, did you?
Captain Lestrad: And what are those ridiculous helmets you're wearing?

Captain Lestrad: Hmph. And what of the Dragonslayers? Report.

Captain Lestrad: That's all? Well, I suppose it's a lot to ask from Dragonslayers to be more observant.

Captain Lestrad: Clearly. We've managed to establish an encampment here, after all.

Captain Lestrad: These "Hollow", as you call them, were no match for us. As you can see, we've established a perimeter, and are setting up camp.
Captain Lestrad: Our dragons are working on opening up the area above us to the sky for aerial access and supply transportation.

Captain Lestrad: The DragonLords will continue to secure the area and expand the perimeter. The more we can bring back under our control, the safer it will be.
Captain Lestrad: The Dragonslayers will continue searching for any survivors. They know this area better than us, after all.
Captain Lestrad: Considering their difficulties in combat, Galanoth, you will rejoin and accompany them.

Captain Lestrad: <Character>, you and your Alliance will be our spearpoint. We need to find out where the Hollow come from.
Captain Lestrad: Specifically, you will begin heading toward the main stalk in the center of the city.
Captain Lestrad: Our scouts say that—

Captain Lestrad: What is happening? Explain! Now!

    Captain Lestrad: By the Avatars...

Captain Lestrad: To arms! Defend the camp!

Captain Lestrad: Well fought. I... I can see now why establishing a foothold here could prove problematic.
    Captain Lestrad: You, Dragonslayer!

Captain Lestrad: Kord! How often does something like this occur?

    Captain Lestrad: As it should!
Captain Lestrad: ... What do you mean, below?

Captain Lestrad: You didn't think that was relevant before?

    Captain Lestrad: ...

Captain Lestrad: That's the next target, then. The Alliance will push for the main stalk and see what they can find.

Captain Lestrad: I think not, Galanoth. I'm the captain here, and I'll be giving the orders.

Captain Lestrad: The Dragonslayers shall stay here and help us secure the camp.
Captain Lestrad: Once that's finished, and the dragons burn through the top, we'll see about setting up a supply line in the wake of the Alliance.

    Through the Tangle

Captain Lestrad: We're retreating! We can't hold the camp!

Captain Lestrad: We have dragons in the air pulling out the injured. But not enough for the slayers and the Alliance, too!

Captain Lestrad: Deeper into enemy territory?! Are you insane!?

Captain Lestrad: The DragonLords are safe? Then we'll follow the path of least resistance and regroup when we can.

    Captain Lestrad: Do it.
Captain Lestrad: DragonLords, call your dragons for air support, we move, now!

Captain Lestrad: Dragonslayers with me, to the rear!

    Captain Lestrad: Go! Go, go!

Captain Lestrad: I... Thank you, Speaker. It's nothing!

    Captain Lestrad: What?!
Captain Lestrad: I thought we were regrouping and waiting for evacuation!
Captain Lestrad: Don't tell me you intend to—

    Captain Lestrad: ...

Captain Lestrad: I'm well aware of... most of <Character>'s... accomplishments...

Captain Lestrad: What exactly is the goal of this endeavor, again?

    Captain Lestrad: ...Just like that?

Captain Lestrad: ...Lead on, then, hero.

Captain Lestrad: I know this dragon. Magden. Fell defending the encampment above.

Captain Lestrad: The shape of the head, the "teeth". It's some sort of... Hollow copy.

Captain Lestrad: A logical assessment. DragonLords, set up a perimeter. Let us know if the fungus so much as sprouts a mushroom!

    The Deep Dark

    Captain Lestrad: ...

    Captain Lestrad: I'm impressed.
Captain Lestrad: You're incredibly powerful for such a young dragon.

Captain Lestrad: That you are! <Character> is lucky to have you as a partner.

Captain Lestrad: You have nothing to fear, little one. I have no intention of interfering with your bond.
Captain Lestrad: I am... Jealous? Frustrated?

Captain Lestrad: I have worked so hard to protect the dragons and the DragonLords.
Captain Lestrad: And yet it seems others are always chosen. Always... better.
Captain Lestrad: Am I doing something wrong?
Captain Lestrad: I must be protective. I must be strict. I must do what is best for the DragonLord Order and the dragons.
    Captain Lestrad: And yet...

Captain Lestrad: How quickly they look to others for guidance.

Captain Lestrad: You're right, of course.

Captain Lestrad: This is hardly the first time I've been humbled.
Captain Lestrad: The destruction of the encampment, the loss of dragon and human life...
Captain Lestrad: That... slayer. The Speaker. Galanoth had to save me.
Captain Lestrad: All because I refused to heed the warnings.
Captain Lestrad: Because I "knew best".

Captain Lestrad: Of course you are! You're a growing young dragon. And quite a good listener.
Captain Lestrad: Let me see if I have anything in my pack for you...

Captain Lestrad: Then... We can have <Dragon> speak to this one!

    Captain Lestrad: ...

Captain Lestrad: I knew this was a bad idea.

    Into the Abyss

Captain Lestrad: Getting word from Hemlock now—

    Captain Lestrad: ...After you.

Captain Lestrad: A few dragons were injured when the Tytan rose up, and I imagine anyone remaining in the city is shaken.
Captain Lestrad: But the evacuation is still proceeding apace.

Captain Lestrad: Our dragons remain outside for a reason. As long as our connection remains, they will be able to locate us.

Captain Lestrad: No point standing around staring at it, right? Let's get down there and cut it down!

    Fate's Flow (Part 1)

If you joined the Rose faction:
Captain Lestrad: Are you certain this is the right way, Magus?

Captain Lestrad: I... I apologize. I did not mean any offense—

Captain Lestrad: You have no right to—

Captain Lestrad: Galanoth, control your subordinate!

Captain Lestrad: Tell you what, Kord. Once this is all over, let's get a drink together. A pint or few of Moglinberry Juice.

Captain Lestrad: ...I see a lot of myself in you, boy. I see you heading down the same mistaken path that I have wandered for far too long.

Captain Lestrad: After all this time... why now, O Great One?

    Fate's Flow (Part 2)

Captain Lestrad: The Great One... The Great One has risen!

Captain Lestrad: Good. We don't need them risking their lives waiting for us when we don't even know where we'll emerge.

Captain Lestrad: Hemlock tells me we're just under the outer layer, toward the side of the Tytan.

Captain Lestrad: If you don't, you're dead for sure.

Captain Lestrad: Have some faith. Maybe close your eyes for this part.

Captain Lestrad: Don't make me regret giving you that push, boy.

    Twin Tides

Captain Lestrad: ...Ahem! Sorry to interrupt.
Captain Lestrad: Not that I wish to doubt the majesty of The Great One, but...
Captain Lestrad: Even if we had a way to close the Rift, would The Great One— would Dragonsgrasp— last long enough for us to reach it?

    Awakened Depths: Epilogue (All Versions)

Captain Lestrad: I can't believe they dug out the century-aged Moglinberry juice for this!
Captain Lestrad: ...But I suppose it's as good a reason as any.
Captain Lestrad: ...Those Dragonsgrasp refugees better not drink it all...

Captain Lestrad: What's on your mind, boy?

Captain Lestrad: Well, after everyone's done celebrating, we'll kick you Dragonslayers and Dragesvard refugees off our island, and we'll take to the skies.

Captain Lestrad: ...That's what I would have said, once.
Captain Lestrad: But this last adventure's given me a lot to think about. Been talking to Hemlock.
Captain Lestrad: Might be okay to settle down for a while. Make sure Dragesvard gets cleaned up properly.
Captain Lestrad: As for the slayers...

    Captain Lestrad: I... see.

Captain Lestrad: You'd kill them all, indiscriminately? Like The Rose had been doing?

    Captain Lestrad: ...
Captain Lestrad: Tell you what. Since the DragonLords are sticking around, anyway, I think you could use our help.

Captain Lestrad: You're right that there are evil dragons in the world.
Captain Lestrad: But there are many who have done no wrong. Nor do they intend to.
Captain Lestrad: As DragonLords and dragons, we can help determine which dragons must be brought to justice.
Captain Lestrad: And those who should be spared.

Captain Lestrad: I will have to speak to the dragons about it as well, of course.

    Captain Lestrad: Is that—? Mritha?!
    Captain Lestrad: I should have—
    Captain Lestrad: Wait. Stop! Stop!
Captain Lestrad: It's not on the house!

Captain Lestrad: That's the private reserve— you can't just—!

Captain Lestrad: It is. It has enough stocked to take you to Braughlmurk's shore without issue.

    Captain Lestrad: Don't mention it.

    Captain Lestrad: Right...Thank you.
Captain Lestrad: Well, you better get going. No point blocking the workways when—
Captain Lestrad: Er... That is to say...
Captain Lestrad: Farewell, and safe travels. All of you.

    Captain Lestrad: Wha—?

    Captain Lestrad: Right! Right.
