Dialogue
Popsprocket

Yix: I'm glad that you're here, <Character>. I will not rest until our city is ours again.

  • Random Quest! Go on Yix's random quests!
Yix: Airheart is reporting that her mechagryphon has been throwing off sparks and making a disturbing grinding noise upon takeoff.
Galanoth: She suspects an act of sabotage, but hopes it's only a mechanical problem.
Galanoth: She's heard that mysterious gnome has a wide selection of widgets and gadgets to fix things. She'd like you to see if he has anything to help her.

Yix: SOMEone has caused the gryphons in the hatchery to go crazy! Our spies report Balthar has a new machine...
Yix: It looks like a whistle, but if it makes noise, only the gryphons can hear it. Diabolical!
Yix: Please go subdue and round up the escaped gryphons on the far side of the island before they wreak even more havoc.
Yix: Once they're all back, we'll need to modify the hatchery walls, I think.

Yix: Someone has been stripping the nuts and bolts off some of the machinery down in the caverns below the town.
Galanoth: Some are saying there is a golem in the gears, but I think it's just a youthful prankster.
Galanoth: Please head into the caverns and find the missing nuts and bolts so we can re-attach them.

  • Quests
Yix: With your help, we'll win Popsprocket back from those robotic monsters yet!
    • Pipe Dreams
Yix: Balthar's robots drove all of us here to the edge of town. We've been able to barricade ourselves out the outskirts.
Yix: We can't open the barricade for you without risking everyone else... but there may be another way in.
Yix: If you can get into the project delivery tunnels and open the 4 steam matrix gates, then you'll have a safe way into town.
Yix: You'll have to work fast. Once you activate the steam, you'll only have a short time to alter the matrix so it will release the gate lock!
Yix: There are intercom tubes next to each gate, so you let me know when you're ready for me to start the steam.
Yix: If you take too long, or you can't fix the matrix before the steam is released... the pressure alarms will draw some of the Cyklon guards.
Yix: Don't worry, it's much easier than it sounds and I'll walk you through it over the intercom tubes!
Yix: Grab your pipe wrench, <Character>! We might only have one shot at this.

    • Popguns
Yix: Now that you've got a way into the city proper, we need to think of a way to get to balthar and stop him.
Yix: Getting through his cyklon army won't be easy, but I think that we'd hit a spot of luck.
Yix: The steam tunnel that you cleared comes out very close to the Popsprocket experimental tool storage facility.
Yix: There will be lots of thing in there that the refugees can use to make our lives easier until we win back Popsprocket...
Yix: ... But there are 2 very special tools that I think we can use to make a kind of super-anti-cyklon weapon for you!
Yix: The first is called the Sparkane Sapper. It was designed to sap all the magic and electrical power from fuel cells.
Yix: We used it on certain machines, so they would be safer to work on, then we would just recharge them when the repairs were done.
Yix: The second is the Rapidfreeze Sample Saver. It was built to flash freeze living plant specimens for transport and study.
Yix: I can put them together and you'll have a weapon that you can use on those robots!
Yix: One shot from that baby will sap their power cells dry, freeze their water tanks and ice over their gears! They'll never know what hit 'em!
Yix: The storage facility is very close to the Mechagryphon hatchery-factory, so you'll have to fight past the insane mechagryphons.
Yix: Once you get to the storage facility, contact me through the TalkyTubes and I'll give you the keycode to the door.
Yix: Good luck, <Character>. If you pull this off, it will make stopping Balthar a lot more.... possible.

    • Richard's Gear
Yix: Removing the whole tool storage facility? That was a dirty trick!
Yix: So Sepulchure is going for the orb too... and trying to stop you from getting there first.
Yix: Never fear! I have a plan!
Yix: Deep within the heart of Popsprocket is our oldest, largest gear that opperates most of the smaller gears in town.
Yix: It was put in place by Richard Fizzlesproing over a hundred years ago.
Yix: If you can cut the power to that very large gear, then none of the gear opperated doors in Popsprocket will open.
Yix: Sepulchure will have a lot of dead-locked doors in his way and you can keep moving through the tunnels with me as your guide!
Yix: You need to make your way to the heart of Popsprocket... I'll show you the entrance to the undertunnels.
Yix: Destroy any cyklon agents that you see and try not to get burned by the steam vents.
Yix: All you have to do is remove the power source that keeps Richard's Gear turning...
Yix: ...which is a gigantic robotic gerbil on a gigantic wheel...
Yix: ...which is powered by a smaller, real gerbil inside of it. Try not to hurt that little guy, ok?

    • Pachelbel's Cannon
Yix: Sepulchure's undead minions are crawling all over the city, trying to fight their way to Balthar and the Energy Orb.
Yix: I had hoped that undead would keep the Cyklons busy enough for you to slip past them...
      Yix: ...But I was wrong.
Yix: At least we knew what to expect from the cyklons. We can't fight a battle on two fronts, <Character>.
Yix: We need information on Sepulchure's plans and troop movements, and I think I know just how to get it...

    • Sitcom
Yix: We're just about ready to turn on the Far-A-Vision.
Yix: I'm not sure what we'll see but you should prepare yourself for the worst.
Yix: If the picture isn't clear enough just wiggle the antenna on top there.

    • More

      • In-sir-mountable
Yix: We need the help from the rest of the heroes in Lore. Fighting a war on two fronts just won't work.
Yix: Talk to Knight Captain Rolith, see if he and the Pactoganol Knights will fight in our defense.
Yix: Saving our city and keeping the orb safe are of utmost importance.
Yix: I have faith you'll make them see how much we need their help, <Character>.

      • Rolith's Solution
Yix: I'm sure Captain Rolith will have a suitable alternative for us!

      • Ex Machina
Yix: We'll need to start planning the details of the war, <Character>!
Yix: I'm sure Sepulchure has a plan already.
Yix: We need to go off and talk without interruptions, and really get things moving!

      • To War!
Yix: War has come to Popsprocket, <Character>! Battle the Cyklons and Sepulchure's undead to save our city AND the Energy Orb!

      • The City Fights Back!
Yix: Popsprocket's defense mechanisms have been engaged, and we REALLY don't want to be around for the transformation!

      • Under the Sea
Yix: We think we've located the experimental tool storage facility that Sepulchure stole! It is under water, near Osprey Cove!
Yix: Please travel there and if you can locate the shed, we'll finally have our experimental weapons back!
  • Talk
Yix: Oh good! You have questions! Ask anything that you want!
    • Who are you?
Yix: I am Yix, acting High Technocrat of Popsprocket.
Yix: Our normal High Technocrat has fled the town along with most of the other residents and researchers.
Yix: So have the other 37 people ahead of me in the chain of command...
Yix: Actually, I'm the head of maintenance normally but this is my home and I won't abandon it!
Yix: I'm not much of a fighter but I know every project underway in Popsprocket.
Yix: ... And if one of the nozzles is clogged in the soup machines, I'm the gnome for the job!

    • Gnomes?
Yix: You've never seen a gnome before? What do you do with your time?
Yix: Gnomes are similar to dwarves physically... we're a little shorter and not as stocky, but our brains couldn't work more differently.
Yix: Gnomes are impossibly curious. Naturally inquisitive minds make us excellent researchers, engineers and inventors.
Yix: Sadly our curiosity tends to lead a lot of us to... unusual ends. Did you know that more than 70% of all gnomes die in mechanical explosions?
Yix: Popsprocket is our main city in this part of Lore but gnomes aren't afraid of traveling. We have camps and towns all over Lore.
Yix: We may not be the tallest race but you'll find that most of us are as loyal and fearless as we are curious!
Yix: You're almost always in good company if you have a gnome for a friend.

    • Popsprocket?
Yix: Popsprocket is the main gnomish city in this part of the world. It is a center for research, scientific and technomagical study.
Yix: Most of the residents are gnomes but we are open to all races who wish to further the cause of understanding.
Yix: Not too long ago we had a human inventor studying us but he turned his back on us when he dedicated his life to dentistry.
Yix: You may wonder why the city is flying. Well, the Aeris Battlespire came to us when they wanted to become a floating city.
Yix: A team of researchers found that heating Ahzite ore gives us anti-gravity properties... but they went a little overboard.
Yix: Now we have to keep Popsprocket chained down or we'll fly off into space. Wouldn't that be fun?! But we're not prepared yet.

    • Balthar?
Yix: Mechagius Balthar... that weasel! He was a low level researcher here in town only a few weeks ago.
Yix: He was doing grunt work for Section 13, mapping the old steam tunnels that worm their way through Popsprocket...
Yix: Suddenly he starts making these robotic minions that he calls his Cyklon Army. These machines are WAY out of this league.
Yix: Personally, I believe that he found the long lost Elemental Orb of Energy.
Yix: The legends say that it was found when Popsprocket was built on the remains of an ancient Guardian Tower.
Yix: Anyway... with the power of the Energy Orb who knows what kind of calamity that boltbrain might cause!

    • Sepulchure?
Yix: The day that I sent you the letter asking for your help a few flying eyeballs were seen around town.
Yix: I can't say for sure who was behind these eyeballs, but if Sepulchure is looking for that orb too...
Yix: ...Then this situation could be even more dire than I first thought. We need to get to work!
  • Become A Technomancer!
Yix: A working knowledge of gnomish magitech will take lots of studying, <Character>.
Yix: When you're ready to become a Technomancer, I will be proud to have you use some of my inventions. But I must warn you...
Yix: This armor will require a certain level of training before you can fully unlock it's potential. If you aren't at least level 30, train more, then come back.
    • Train (Requires Level 30)
Yix: Remember that the confarctulator needs to be in the ON position or the armor won't work!

      • Unlock Technomancer Armor
      • Wear Technomancer Armor - equips Technomancer class.
      • Give Armor back
      • Train Technomancer Armor
      • Technomancer Items - opens Technomancer Items shop.

    • About Technomancer
Yix: The Technomancer armor is a marvel of gnomish engineering! The Drive Core system will power up your offenses as your Mana reserves drop.
Yix: As part of this system, the armor will slowly build Heat in combat, expending some extra MP every turn.
Yix: However, the Drive Core is an extremely precise system!
Yix: Gaining or losing too much WIS in a battle will force the system to recallibrate, disabling it for several turns.
Yix: It might seem a bit technical, but I have every confidence you can learn to master it!
  • Set Home Town
Yix: Like I always say... "Home is where your 6/13ths Heavy Gauge Wrench is."
    • Yes
Yix: Ok, your home town has been reset to Popsprocket.

    • No

    Gryphons Gone Wild!

Yix: Excellent job, <Character>! We'll be sure to sound-proof the hatchery after this, I promise!

    Pipe Dreams

Yix: First, stop yelling. I can hear you fine at your normal speaking volume.
Yix: Next, you'll have to rework the steam matrix to open the gate

Yix: As soon as you approach the gate the steam will start making its way to the matrix. You will only have a short time before it starts filling the pipes!
Yix: The steam will start at the steam valve in the Upper Left.
Yix: You will need to start clicking the boxes of the matrix and cycle through the pieces...
Yix: ... and build a path for the steam down to the pressure gauge in the lower right.
Yix: Remember, the steam will only go in one direction and it will always go straight when it can!
Yix: If you don't get the matrix reworked in time, it will set off a pressure alarm and you'll have to fight a cyklon guard and do it over.
    Yix: Ready to get started?

    Popguns

    Yix: What's wrong?

Yix: What? The tools have been stolen?!?!

Yix: That's increadible! But how is it possible? What is big enough to steal an entire industrial storage facility?

    Pachelbel's Cannon

Yix: For the past few years we've been working on a project we call the Magic Eye.
Yix: It's a machine that can see images, then transmit them through the aether and we can view them.
Yix: We view these images from a seperate location AS THEY ARE HAPPENING on a viewing device that we're calling a Far-a-vision!
    Yix: Isn't that brilliant?!

    Yix: *blink*
    Yix: Well, yes...
    Yix: ...I suppose...
Yix: ...I suppose you could think of it like that...

    Yix: FINE, YES! ANYWAY...
Yix: In the beginning the Magic Eyes were HUGE and bulky... nearly too large to move.

    Yix: Stop interrupting...
Yix: It wasn't very interesting seeing what was happening in the next room on a tiny screen when you could just walk in there...

    Yix: RECENTLY... *glare*
Yix: ...the team has greatly reduced the size of the Magic Eye. Now it is barely noticable.
Yix: Gaining entrance into Sepulchure's flying fortress would be impossible...
Yix: ...but we have spotted a flying eye roost at the top of one of the towers.
Yix: If we can get you up there with the Magic Eye, then you can attach it to one of the flying eyeballs sleeping in the roost.
Yix: We would have one of Sepulchure's own flying eyes spying for us and no one would even know it!
Yix: It would also be the perfect field test for the new smaller Micro-Magic Eye!

Yix: Hm? OH YES! Escape... that's part of the plan too.

    Yix: ......
    Yix: ...... No, probably not.

Yix: Fuse lit, retreating to a safe distance.

    Yix: FIRE IN THE HOLE!

    Yix: We're SO good!

    Sitcom

Yix: FINALLY! We're getting something on the Far-A-Vision!
Yix: Let's see if we can see what our little spy can see.

Yix: LUGNUTS! He destroyed the mini-magic eye. BUT IT WORKED! YIPEE!
Yix: We can help you get around Popsprocket but we don't have the numbers or resources to fight a war.

Yix: Where? How? We barely have enough gold to feed ourselves, much less hire an army.
Yix: All we have access to are warehouse after warehouse of empty boxes!

    Ex Machina

Yix: ... Ok, so we've got the sneevils.

Yix: Mhmm, mhmm. You'll come up with a use for them, I'm sure.

Yix: The other gnomes and I will help, of course.

    Yix: Stop that.

Yix: Well, we DO have a way to do that, if you'd prefer to avoid using the cannon.
    Yix: There's always the sky-net.

Yix: Only if it becomes self-aware and decides it doesn't like you.

    Yix: ..What did you expect?

    Assault on Popsprocket

Yix: It has begun <Character>. The assault on the Cyklon and the undead must begin if our city is to survive.
Yix: <Character>, for all of your work defending our city on two fronts, I've added an item you can purchase to put in your house. For remembrance!

Yix: Gather 5 Gears of War, <Character>, to unlock the boss fight and cutscenes!

  • Talk
Yix: Let's go over the plan one more time, <Character>.
Yix: For now, you will need to do your best you can until our secret weapon is ready. The rest of us here will work on that.
Yix: It's your choice whether to go take on the Cyklons or the undead(or both), but just remember.....
Yix: Sepulchure is after the Energy Orb! If we lose and he gets it, not only will our city be at risk, but eventually the whole world will feel the effects.

  • Talk and Shop
Yix: The sneak attack has launched, <Character>!
Yix: As we speak, the Togriders, led by General Sneevord, have charged at the masses of undead and cyklons!
Yix: If we're lucky, they'll take out a huge chunk of our enemies, allowing you and the other heroes to finish up the battle.
Yix: The undead are pushing closer to where we believe Balthar hides, though, and the Cyklons are replicating at a rapid rate!

Yix: The Energy Orb is safe and Sepulchure has been thwarted!
Yix: With the help of the Togriders, you have managed to vanish ALL the cyklons AND the undead!
Yix: You have saved our city, and our future.
Yix: Our city- and the Energy Orb- would have been lost without all of your efforts. You have our gratitude!

    Sneak Attack!

    Yix: It's time.
Yix: I just hope it will be enough.

    To the Orb!

Yix: Welcome back, <Character>! Your efforts in the war are an inspiration to us all.
Yix: Thanks to the help from you, the heroes of Lore, our togriding friends, and Sepulchure taking out large groups of them...
Yix: ...the Cyklon army has been handled. Right now, we have to worry about the Energy Orb.
Yix: Nix, a gadget genius, has managed to cobble together something that can detect emanations from the energy orb.
Yix: It's located a large concentration of residual energy in the tunnels of the city, and we believe that is where the Cyklon base is.
Yix: We have to assume that Sepulchure has ways of gathering the same information, so there's no time to waste.
Yix: You'll need to get to that base as soon as possible!

Yix: *sigh* I can hear you just fine.

Yix: We gnomes are known for our inventiveness. And one of our standard invention-procedures is to always leave a back-door!

Yix: There's a back door. Into the room. Here's how you get there–

Who's Afraid of the Big, Bad, Gnome?

Yix: I'm glad to know you didn't intend this, Mechagius. We hated thinking you'd turned your back on us.
Yix: We would be honored. And just think of all the useful things it can help us do!

    Yix: Uh oh. That's-
Yix: I- I've never seen it say THIS before!

    The City Fights Back!

Yix: I don't think we even HAVE a warning system for the Far-a-Vision!
    Yix: Wasn't made by us.
    Yix: We're not really sure.

Yix: He was always the mysterious one. You get used to it.
Yix: But that's only used in case-
    Yix: .....
Yix: I didn't even consider this as a possibility!
Yix: Or as close to it as makes no difference.
Yix: Lets try and save THIS one first, before we construct an entirely new one, hmm?
Yix: Yes, yes. There IS a way to save it.
Yix: Not exactly. You'll just need to... deactivate Popsprocket.

    Yix: Yes, yes it did.
Yix: He's right. Magic. Or, rather, magitech. We have a Re-breath-alator. It'll be just the thing to recycle your bad air into good!
Yix: Because sometimes air just isn't breathable. Isn't that right, Gnix?
Yix: Once you're on your dragon, I'll attach the Re-breath-alator and you'll be good to go.

Yix: Yes. If it's any consolation, the Guardian system worked perfectly!
Yix: Except for thinking you were out to harm the Orb. That was a slight mishap in the gear alignment, we think.
Yix: We'll take excellent care of the Orb for you. It will enhance our studies and multiply our output considerably!

Yix: Thank you for saving our city. Again. You can count on us to keep the Orb for you. We'll keep it away from explosions and corrosive materials.

    Live and Let Dye

Yix: If you can find a volunteer willing to masquerade like that, you're welcome to use them.
Yix: It's a shame Voltabolt- *whisper* (or Bolty, as I called him) - has fallen so far. So very, very far. He had such promise.
Yix: You know dentists stick sharp, pointy tools into people's mouths? And who knows WHAT they do with all the teeth they pull out?
Yix: Besides, we can never get minty-flavoured dental floss here in Popsprocket.
Yix: Go, find a volunteer. Watch out for the cleaning machines, though.
Yix: They're recycled Cyklons and every so often, they short out and attack people. We really need to fix that.

    Popsprocket Havoc

    Yix: <Character>!
Yix: Too long. Thank you for bailing us out! I have no idea though where all of these monsters came from..
Yix: Airheart thinks somebody has been messing with the mechagryphons though... The incidents may be related.
Yix: Normally, a flying town doesn't get attacked that often.. We have our fair share of pigeons though.
Yix: We've been working on an anti-avian excrement bazooka for a long time now, but it just doesn't seem to be--
Yix: Ok, <Character>. You're welcome back here anytime. We can always use somebody to test out our equipment..

    Bombs Away!

    Yix: <Character>! Perfect timing...

Yix: An army of undead are attacking the chains that anchor the city to the ground! If they succeed, we will float away!

Yix: No time for that now.. We've got to finalize this assembly line!

    Yix: Yes.

    Yix: Yes.

    Yix: W-w-w-w-w-watch out!!!!!!

    Yix: !!!

    Yix: So anyways...

Yix: All the robots seem to be contaminated. The interior of Popsprocket is crawling with infected robots.

    Yix: Spyware!

Yix: We've set up an assembly line and we're going to throw everything that we have at them!

Yix: NO! They're gonna snap it!

Yix: The extra-gyro-equilibrium counter system should kick in soon...

    Yix: ...Uh oh...

    Yix: I think...I am alright...

    Yix: The Orb!

Yix: Hurry! Get in! At least the robots have powered down too. Seal off the city!

Yix: But I don't understand... security was top notch!

    The Hunt Begins

Yix: The fire monsters have been attacking the chains for weeks now.

Yix: Going to guess the same thing you're after. The Professor.

Yix: No. He was looking for sanctuary. With the residual attacks... not to mention the new fire monsters... I didn't think he'd be safe here.
Yix: I sent him on to Falconreach.

    Popsmashed

    Yix: Bored bored bored...
Yix: This.. has got to be the worst job on Lore.

    Yix: Or... not?

    Yix: ... ?

Yix: ... You called me over here for that?!
Yix: I thought you had some idea what's causing this! I'm not old YET, I noticed the shaking!

    Yix: ...
Yix: By Bonk's beard... if you don't spit it out--

    Yix: Ohmygoshl'mgonnacry.

    Yix: !!!

Yix: I don't know if this will survive the crash.. but I gotta try!
Yix: It's the Rose! They melted the chains and sieged the town! I-- I don't know how they did it. I..
Yix: I should have been more prepared... But why us? I thought they only had it in for magic...

    Can We Yix Him?

    ???: Dgvfdaszgfg!

    ???: Plres wayt, carilbreting.

    ???: Ugh. This feels... different.

Yix: Is that you Emelia?! It's so good to see-well, hear you!

Yix: Did I? Let me check.
    Yix: Indeed I did!

Yix: This will take a while for me to explain and for you to process!

    Yix: Certainly!
Yix: Now, let me explain some things!

    Darkness is Coming

Yix: Nothing I used was archaic, thank you very much!

    Yix: O- oh?

    Doom Amulet

Yix: As do we! Eirn, point me in the dragon's direction!!

Yix: Its wings are now numbed, at least for the while!

    Reasons to Fight

Yix: Eirn, you fool, she's clearly not working for them!

Yix: You made it this far following my advice. I don't think she's... The Rose type.
Yix: And we are here to share information to the right ears, aren't we?

    Roots of Change

    Yix: *Ahem!*

Yix: Ah, perhaps I can be of help here, Eirn. Hold me up, please.

Yix: So you keep saying. Anyway! Your Queenliness! While the Void is a possibility, the airship does not seem fitted for Void sea travel.
Yix: No, whatever The Rose is doing, it's on this plane, on Lore.

Yix: I can only assume that the Fissure exudes a large amount of magical energy that affects the areas immediately around it.
Yix: Which would therefore require a certain amount of protection.

Yix: And Eirn had the bright idea of coming here to tell you, or whoever was in charge here, all about that!

Yix: A most generous offer, your Queenliness!

    Fallen Facade

    Yix: Ah. Quite refreshing, actually.

Yix: Oh my. This is... Hm.

Yix: Well, I have good news, and bad news.
Yix: The good news is that I've located the main power source.
Yix: The bad news... It's extremely powerful. Probably that Doom device what's-his-face was talking about.

Yix: No more than usual. For now. However, this does pose an issue. In my limited capacity, I doubt I'd be able to make a dent in the power flow.
Yix: And I don't relish being connected to it for terribly long.

Yix: ...Feedback loop would be disastrous like this...
Yix: ...And I don't think there are any sub-nodes... Such rough-shod work wouldn't be acceptable in any of my workshops!

Yix: Did you know this ship has armaments? Some sort of magic-based artillery system.

Yix: Nothing else, you say? Perhaps if I can wrest control of the clockwork subsystem...

Yix: I can redirect the power from the thrusters to the cannons. Can't reroute it all or they might, you know, explode.

Yix: Logically, it's the best option. Overpowering the steering or controls could send the airship crashing to the ground...
Yix: With the corresponding destruction. No, this is the only way.

    Yix: Already working on it.

    Crash and Burn

    Doomed Yix: Doom... DOOM!

    Doomed Yix: DOOM. DOOM. DOOM.

Yix: Ah. I appear to have caused some trouble. I apologize, but I am indeed, myself again.

Yix: Yes, that would be for the best. I will need a new source of power soon enough, however...

    The Only Path

Yix: Ah! Quite well, thank you for asking, <Character>!
Yix: This fellow the Magesters hooked me up to has been quite accommodating with the mana.
Yix: Not very talkative though, it would seem.

Yix: Not my place to comment on the unsavory practices of my saviors! But you, Amadeus, er— Sepulchure?

Yix: Amadeus, then! I cannot forgive you for what you brought upon Popsprocket in your search for the Energy Orb...
Yix: ...But you did save me. At great cost to yourself, it would appear. Have you come to regret your past, then?

Yix: Fair enough! Thank you, nonetheless.
