Objective completed: Glares galore! Experience rewarded: 0 Gold rewarded: 0 Monsters None NPCs Akanthus Amadeus Jaania Kara SuLema Melissa Mritha Niki Princess Victoria Svera Tessa Z Rewards None Dialogue *In Sulen'Eska, Kara meet with Taivas Hyle, Mritha, and Laesa Forn to assess other events that have transpired while you and Melissa attended the Gala.* Kara SuLema: ...Good. Thank you kindly for your report. Kara SuLema (briefly): If we— *Niki arrives to meet with Kara, who expected her return from escorting Bajacu' and the Clawkin out of Betrubung Swamp.* Kara SuLema: Ah, Niki! So, you've returned. Kara SuLema: How is the situation with the Clawkin? How are they faring outside of the swamp? Niki: It has been difficult. There are few places in Greenguard safe from the sight of The Rose. Niki: Bajacu' and much of her kin have chosen to stay with the Dravir in the new Haven for now. Niki: As for the rest... we tried to travel southwest, to the north of the Whispering Steppes. Kara SuLema: But that's... Fury territory! Niki: Yes. Kara SuLema: Niki... you should have come to me first. Without prior diplomacy, the Furies may not be accepting of clawkin refugees in their jungles. Niki: I'm... sorry, Kara. We had no choice. It is a risk, but Bajacu' approved of the decision. Kara SuLema: It was Bajacu's decision, you say? She is wise... and... it... it is not my responsibility to decide what is best for the clawkin, after all. Kara SuLema: ...You mentioned the new Haven, Niki? Mritha, do you have a report on its status? Mritha: The Dravir have decided to begin construction in Fairglade. It is a perilous journey across densely guarded Rose territory, but the camp is safe. Kara SuLema: Fairglade... I believe that is a good location for it. Mritha, please make sure that we have an ambassador in that new Haven camp. Mritha: Certainly. Kara SuLema: Now, I'm sure you must be exhausted, Niki. Please, feel free to— Svera: Kara! You must come, quickly! Kara SuLema: What is the matter, Svera? Svera: <Character> and Melissa have returned from the gala... Svera: With the king... wounded! Kara SuLema: ...The King?! What— Prepare the medical tent, now! *Scene cuts to black, before fading back in; meanwhile, in a balcony of Swordhaven Castle, Tipu and Ahimsa are mounted on two griffins with golden-trimmed head covering while Jaania prepares to mount on hers for a trip to the Fissure while Amadeus checks on her.* Amadeus: My Lady, when should I expect your return? Jaania: A few weeks from now, at most. Amadeus: Who will— Jaania: General Akanthus will take charge in my stead. Amadeus: Very well. *As Jaania continues to prepare for her trip, while looking at Amadeus from the side, she asks him what is Akanthus currently doing.* Jaania: ...Speaking of the General, do you know what he is doing at the moment? Amadeus: I believe he is surveying the castle for damage and dealing with any remaining golems. Jaania: ...I see. I trust you will serve him as loyally as you have me. *Amadeus pauses before closing his eyes as he assures that he will serve loyally to Akanthus.* Amadeus: Certainly. Jaania: Also, have Z study one of the golems, please. Jaania: I expect results when I'm back. Amadeus: Yes, my Lady. Jaania: Now, time to see what this Fissure is all about. ???: Jaania! *Jaania turns around to face a furious Princess Victoria as she arrived at the balcony.* Jaania: Princess Victoria... greetings. I'm glad to see that at least you are alright. I haven't yet had the chance to— Princess Victoria: Why have you announced to the people that my father has been kidnapped?! You had no right— Jaania: It was the right thing to do. Jaania: People have to know— Princess Victoria: He wasn't kidnapped!! *Jaania tries to understand from Victoria's claim of that King Alteon was not kidnapped.* Jaania: Oh? Jaania: My sources tell me otherwise. Princess Victoria: Your "sources" are wrong! Princess Victoria: I was.... I... Jaania: You were... what? *Victoria—despite her reluctance to tell Jaania her side of the claim in detail—discloses her story.* Princess Victoria: I was there when it happened! *Jaania and Amadeus both glare at Victoria before Jaania continues to ask Victoria what happened.* Jaania: I see. Jaania: Can you tell me what happened, then? Princess Victoria: <Character>... *Jaania glares at Victoria again as she listens to Victoria's story.* Princess Victoria: My father has been injured! By these things! That you led into the castle! <Character> has taken him... Taken him to... Jaania: ...Where did s/he take the King? Princess Victoria: I... I could'n— *Victoria, now saddened, looks down at the ground before looking at Jaania calmly to give a straight answer of Alteon's whereabouts.* Princess Victoria: I don't know. Jaania: I'm having a hard time understanding. If the King was injured, why has <Character> taken him? Why not call for help? Why didn't you stop her/him? Princess Victoria: I... Jaania: ...It seems apparent that you were forced to make a difficult decision. I only hope you do not come to regret your choices. Princess Victoria: The point is, my father was not kidnapped. He was taken... to... someone who will... help him! Jaania: ... Princess Victoria: I trust <Character>! *Jaania and Victoria glare intensively at each other while Amadeus looks at Jaania as he expects a response; Jaania closes her eyes for she is not willing to argue with a member of Alteon's family.* Jaania: I see. Jaania: Then I will not question your judgement. Thank you for telling me this. Jaania: I shall settle things on my end after I return. Princess Victoria: Are you... leaving? Jaania: Yes. Princess Victoria: And where, may I ask, are you going? Jaania: To see exactly why a foreign kingdom would attack us. Princess Victoria: You mean attack you... Jaania: ... Jaania: I'll be off now. Princess Victoria: ... Jaania: Farewell... Queen Victoria. Princess Victoria: P-pardon? Amadeus: The King is absent and Princess Brittany, who's the next in line, is in no condition to rule over Swordhaven. Amadeus: That leaves you. My Queen. *Jaania mounts on her griffin as she, Tipu, and Ahimsa take off into the skies as they travel to the Fissure, leaving the shocked Victoria as she is now the acting Queen; back in Sulen'Eska, King Alteon is resting peacefully in the medical tent while you and Melissa have concluded their talk about the events that transpired at the Gala to Kara, Svera, and Niki.* <Character>: So... that's about it. Kara SuLema: ... <Character>: I told you something was going to go wrong. Kara SuLema: I... wouldn't ever have anticipated things going this way, though. Kara SuLema: Svera, do we have any information about this Magesterium? Svera: I'm afraid not. <Character>: Is Danyel's soulally still around? Maybe he can shed some light on this subject. Kara SuLema: I shall have to consult the wind... Kara SuLema: But right now, we need to focus on more immediate matters. Kara SuLema: Which are the King's health, well-being, and his adjustment to these... new surroundings he will find once he wakes up. Kara SuLema: Don't think I'm not grateful, <Character>... but it was very risky bringing the King here. <Character>: I know. But we had little choice. Melissa: I made the most sound tactical decision, given the position we were in! <Character>: ... Kara SuLema: Please, I am not blaming anyone! It's... it's absolutely fine. Niki: Wouldn't... people think that the King was kidnapped? <Character>: The thought occurred, yes! *You glare at Melissa.* Melissa: ... Kara SuLema: What's done is done... there's no point on dwelling on it. Now, we must make sure the King is given all the care that he needs. Kara SuLema: Svera, please bring Elanee here. We will have need of her healing expertise. Svera: At once! *Meanwhile, in the Ivory Tower, Amadeus and Z examine the fallen Magisterium golem in a table; Z appears to be intrigued as he examines the golem due to his past experience.* Z: Ohohohoho! Z: This is simply marvelous! Z: Such craftsmanship! Z: This is totally my aesthetic! Z: Ah! Looook! My hands are trembling! Amadeus: ...Will you be able to learn something from it? Z: Ooohoohoho, absolutely! I have no doubt about that. Z: Make sure to bring me that... "mana person" Jaania has spoken about as well, please! Amadeus: Certainly. Amadeus: I will leave you to it, then. ???: Emissary Amadeus, sir. Amadeus: Yes, Tessa? Tessa: General Akanthus is asking for you. *Amadeus glares intensively at Tessa before turning around to face him.* Amadeus: At once. *Amadeus approaches Akanthus, who does not face at Amadeus when he arrives.* Amadeus: You've called for me...? *Scene pans right to focus at Amadeus as Akanthus asks him about the motive of the Magesterium's attack.* Akanthus: Why were they here? Amadeus: I'm sorry? You will have to be more specific. Akanthus: The Magesterium. Why was the Magesterium here? *Amadeus pauses before telling him the information.* Amadeus: ...From what I've gathered, they don't want Jaania to interfere with their business. Akanthus: ...Which is? Amadeus: If she has not informed you personally, I cannot disclose that information. *Akanthus is unsatisfied by Amadeus' answer.* Akanthus: Amadeus, do you value your position? *Amadeus does not answer back as he glares at Akanthus.* Akanthus: Have you forgotten I can see through your illusions? All of them? *Akanthus pauses before continuing that as he does not care for who or what is Amadeus really is, but rather the information on why Jaania was attacked by the Magesterium.* Akanthus: Who you really are is none of my concern, as I have told you. Akanthus: In truth, I don't care about your secrets. Akanthus: All I care about is for you to give me information I desire. For you to do your job as researcher... and Spymaster. Akanthus: And what I desire right now... is what the Magesterium really wants from Jaania. *Amadeus continues to glare as he reluctantly gives in to Akanthus' demand.* Amadeus: Jaania has left to investigate the Fissure, a very old phenomenon south of Kaer Sierra. Amadeus: At first, she believed it to be a giant geyser of raw mana. But as of yesterday, she's not so sure anymore. Amadeus: That is why she has been so openly attacked by these people from Azaveyr. *Satisfied by Amadeus' answer, Akanthus ponders the information about the Fissure.* Akanthus: The Fissure... Ah, I see now. Akanthus: This is... intriguing. *Amadeus, now curious, makes a guess that Akanthus knew the Magesterium.* Amadeus: From the way you asked... you know of the Magesterium, correct? *Akanthus confirms Amadeus' suspicions.* Akanthus: You could say that. Akanthus: I came here to escape the Magesterium's grasp, after all. *Amadeus glares at Akanthus again, only for Akanthus to glare back at him with his mint eyes.* Akanthus: From now on, I want to know everything Jaania does... regarding the Fissure. Amadeus: ...As you wish. *Amadeus leaves slowly as he will have to comply Akanthus' commands for now on; scene fades to black.* Complete Quest Other information This quest was reimagined with new dialogue on April 21st, 2023.
