Mind yourself, and remember that we will be watching you. Lojaali Vero: Who have you brought to us Halda? Who are you, stranger? Hi, my name is... <Character>: Hi, my name is <Character>! I'm here to learn about the Vind. You first. <Character>: You first. Lojaali Vero: I am Lojaali Vero. I am a wind elf of the Vind, and guardian of Sulen'Eska. <Character>: My name is <Character>. I'm here to learn about the Vind. <Character>: I was told that if I sought out the Vind, I'd be able to learn more about what The Rose is doing. Halda Sulji: Lojaali, <he/she/they> said <he was/she was/they were> a friend of our contact in Falconreach, Ash. Maybe Kara would know what to– Lojaali Vero: You are too quick to trust, Halda. For all we know, <he is/she is/they are> a Rose spy, or assassin. Halda Sulji: But... Lojaali Vero: <Character>, if you wish to meet our leader, I must ask that you first prove your intentions. <Character>: But I'm <Character>! I've saved all of Lore a few times already. You don't recognize me? Lojaali Vero: The Rose has attracted many recognizable names and faces. Lojaali Vero: You are clearly exceptionally capable. Letting you in unfettered is not the same as letting in some refugee eager to fight. Lojaali Vero: Especially after what happened at the Sanctuary. Lojaali Vero: I do not know you personally. I do not trust you. Halda Sulji: You must understand, <Character>. The Rose threatens us and our way of life with each passing moment. Halda Sulji: Unfortunately, Lojaali is right. We cannot be too careful. Lojaali Vero: Speak to me later if you'd like to prove your intentions. Lojaali Vero: But until then, access to Sulen'Eska will be restricted for you. <Character>: I... see. Lojaali Vero: We will be watching you, <Character>. When approaching Lojaali Vero before turning in 2 Rose Emblems: Lojaali Vero: <Character>. You claim to be this "hero". If you truly wish to prove yourself to us, I have work for you. When approaching Lojaali Vero after turning in 2 Rose Emblems: Lojaali Vero: Welcome, <Character>. Sulen'Eska is open to you. Talk Lojaali Vero: Is something the matter? - Why so distrustful?
<Character>: Why are you so distrustful of strangers? Lojaali Vero: Because it is my duty. Many here in Sulen'Eska depend on the Vind for protection. Lojaali Vero: If I have a lapse of vigilance, then I put them at risk. Lojaali Vero: In that case, it is just as much my fault as the perpetrators'. <Character>: That seems like quite the burden to bear. Do you scrutinize so strongly every refugee or volunteer who arrives? Lojaali Vero: There are others who watch and judge from the trees. The responsibility is shared, but that doesn't impact its magnitude. Lojaali Vero: We use our eyes and our feelings to judge strangers. And when that isn't enough, we assign them tasks to prove their loyalty. Lojaali Vero: Even then, a single Rose spy slipping through is quite different than say, a powerful <Class> such as yourself. <Character>: It must be a lot of pressure. Lojaali Vero: I didn't ask your opinion, but I appreciate the sympathy. - Our first meeting... - see initial dialogue when entering Sulen'Eska for the first time.
Quests Lojaali Vero: If you're ready, there have been some infestations of The Rose attempting to intrude into our territory. Force them out and bring back proof. - Betrubung Depths - begins Betrubung Depths quest.
- Turn in Rose Emblems
Before turning in 2 Rose Emblems: Lojaali Vero: The Rose is sending more and more patrols into Betrubung Swamp. Prove your allegiance. Lojaali Vero: Bring me 2 Rose Emblems. - Turn in Emblems - unlocks the shroomcase and vortex to upper Sulen'Eska.
After turning in 2 Rose Emblems: Lojaali Vero: Well done, <Character>. You have proven yourself to the Vind and can access the shroomcase, which will take you to the upper levels of Sulen'Eska. Weapons Forge Paina Jainen: Hello there! If you've gathered any spare Rose Emblems, I may be able to requisition some spare weapons for you. Talk <Character>: Hello. Who are you? Paina Jainen: I'm Paina. I tend the forge down here. Mostly just maintenance and emergency work, but it's important! <Character>: "Down here"? Paina Jainen: Yes, the majority of the camp is above, in the treetops. Paina Jainen: I work down here so that the noise and heat is more muffled by the winds. <Character>: You seem a lot more open than Lojaali. Paina Jainen: Do you think so? I still mind my words, but I simply can't enjoy what life I have here if I'm always looking for ulterior motives. Paina Jainen: Nah, if someone wrongs me, that's on them. Maybe that's a naive view of the world... Paina Jainen: But I've got too many other things to worry about. Besides, the Vind will protect me! <Character>: You must have a lot of faith in the Vind then. Paina Jainen: Yep! Now if you'll excuse me, I must get back to work. Rose Emblem Shop - opens Rose Emblem (Shop). DC Shop - opens SulenEska (Shop). Campsite Ogorek: Stranger, have you seen a human woman named Elanee? Talk <Character>: I'm sorry, I don't believe I have. Is something the matter? Ogorek: She is my wife. We were separated when we fled our village after The Rose moved in. Ogorek: I don't know what happened to her... <Character>: That's terrible. Can't the Vind help you? Aren't they the rebellion? Ogorek: Kara says that they do not have the resources to spare to locate a single missing person. <Character>: There's that name again. Who is Kara? Ogorek: Kara is the leader of the Vind. She is a wind elf, like many here. <Character>: Is there anything I can do to help? Ogorek: You seem more than capable. If you're here to help, maybe you're the "resources" Kara has been waiting for. Ogorek: Now please... excuse me. Without Elanee by my side, my world is spinning, and my stomach grows weak. <Character>: I'll see what I can do. Ogorek: Thank you. After completing The Border Prison: Ogorek: Elanee is safe! She has returned to me! Thank you so much, <Character>. Talk Elanee: I appreciate your aid, <Character>. I hope Ogorek didn't give you too much trouble while I was... away. <Character>: No, none at all. I'm glad you're both well. Ascending the Shroomcase Wiatr: <Character>, are you in a rush to see someone? I can fly you up top. Fly up - teleports player directly to top of shroomcase. Middle Landing Taivas Hyle: I have heard much of your exploits, <Character>. I look forward to working with you. Supply Area Groft Nyori: They get closer every day... I can't stand it. I'm hardly getting enough sleep as it is. Listen in... Virta Juonet: Shhh... It'll be alright. If they want to get to you, they'll have to make it past me first! Groft Nyori: Th- thanks, Virta. But as scared as I am, I wouldn't let you fight them alone. Virta Juonet: I know, Groft. But unless that day ever comes, breathe easy. The Vind is doing all it can, and so are we. Virta Juonet: You have nothing to fear here. Groft Nyori: Right. Deep breaths. In... out... I got this. When approaching Laesa Forn for the first time: Laesa Forn: Hello... Talk Laesa Forn: Please excuse me. I am in need of some help, and you appear quite capable. <Character>: Hello. What's wrong? Laesa Forn: Before we settled here in Sulen'Eska, before we were the Vind, many of us lived in a place called the Sanctuary. Laesa Forn: We were a coalition of many races and backgrounds, all opposed to The Rose... but... Laesa Forn: Eventually, the Sanctuary was discovered. The Rose was not merciful. Many were lost or captured in the aftermath. Laesa Forn: Kara... found those of us who escaped and survived, and we hid away here, becoming the Vind. Laesa Forn: I would like to do something for the ones we lost in the Sanctuary, but I am required here in Sulen'Eska. Laesa Forn: Would you be willing to help me create memorials for those lost to The Rose? - Sure - unlocks additional dialogue.
- I'm busy...
After selecting 'Sure': Laesa Forn: Thanks for your help. These memorials, no matter how brief, will bring comfort and peace to any affected by The Rose. - Song on the Wind
Laesa Forn: My mentor was lost in the battles in the Sanctuary. He taught me how to fashion windchimes from the odds and ends of the forest. Laesa Forn: They were beautiful in both sight and sound. If you can find the materials I require, perhaps you could hang them up in Falconreach. Laesa Forn: To provide comfort and peace without pride- such are windchimes, and such was my mentor. - Swirl of Colour
Laesa Forn: I had a particular friend who loved flowers. She was from a farm outside of Swordhaven, and had heard stories of the magical Vindeflauers. Laesa Forn: We... had plans to one day travel to the wastes of Braughlmurk to find them... but The Rose put an end to that dream. Laesa Forn: If you could find some Vindeflauers for me, perhaps we could plant some along the road to Swordhaven. She would have liked that, I think. - Dancing Breeze
Laesa Forn: My final request is for those that remain lost and scattered. Laesa Forn: Kara has done well, but there are still those who fled during the destruction of the Sanctuary who have yet to find their way to us. Laesa Forn: Perhaps this is... naive, but if we can set up some small magical windmills along the traveled roads.... Laesa Forn: Maybe, just maybe we can show those in hiding that there is still hope, and that the cause is rebuilding. - Replay Intro - see initial dialogue when approaching Laesa Forn for the first time.
- Leave
After completing Dancing On the Breeze: Laesa Forn: I truly appreciate all that you've done for me, <Character>. The memories of my friends can be finally be at peace. - Quests - see dialogue after selecting 'Sure'.
- Glad to help
Alchemy Area Rakkaus Deyja: Those that I love have been captured by the Rose. Enslaved. Rakkaus Deyja: I won't rest until their ivory tower falls. Upper Level When approaching Kara SuLema for the first time: Kara SuLema: Welcome, <Character>. I am Kara SuLema, leader of the Vind. <Character>: It's nice to meet you. Kara SuLema: I am sure you have many questions of me, but first, I must ask of yourself— Kara SuLema: Why have you sought us out? What are you looking for with the Vind? <Character>: Until recently, I was frozen in a massive block of ice. It seems that while I was indisposed, the world has changed. <Character>: I want to learn everything I can about what has happened, and I want to help those in need wherever I can. After all, I'm a hero! Kara SuLema: Informing oneself is a wise first step. Thank you for humoring my request. Kara SuLema: Now, what would you ask of me, <Character>? <Character>: Who exactly are the Vind? I've been told you're a rebellion against The Rose, but why? What is your goal? Kara SuLema: We are a collection of those who have been wronged, or know those who have been wronged by the actions of The Rose. Kara SuLema: We are refugees, fighters, volunteers, and family. We even have a contingent of DragonLords! Kara SuLema: We rescue whoever we can from The Rose... Kara SuLema: ...but maybe it's time we took more active measures in stopping their tyranny. Kara SuLema: If you're willing to join us, to help our cause, we may be able to start pushing The Rose back. <Character>: About The Rose... I've only heard rumors of terrible things they've done. <Character>: I met some of them myself, and while strict, I didn't see any evidence of wrongdoing. Kara SuLema: The Rose is... complicated. Kara SuLema: There may be those with good intentions, but they all run unchecked. It all comes down to Jaania. <Character>: Jaania? Kara SuLema: She is the leader of The Rose. After she saved Lore, she rose to prominence as a hero and savior, but she's since withdrawn. Kara SuLema: And so, her organization has grown and spread beyond her vision. Kara SuLema: Many now take advantage of the name of The Rose to pursue their own agenda. Kara SuLema: But the responsibility still lies with Jaania. The Rose is her organization and their actions are therefore hers. Kara SuLema: Even so... I do not believe... I cannot believe that Jaania would approve of the methods being used by her subordinates. <Character>: So what have these "subordinates" been doing? Kara SuLema: The rumors you've heard are all true. The Rose captures and imprisons magical creatures and peoples. Kara SuLema: All in the name of protecting Greenguard and Lore from 'the dangers of magic'. Kara SuLema: I hope you will be willing to help us stop The Rose and save those who can be saved. When approaching Kara SuLema thereafter: Kara SuLema: With your arrival, <Character>, the fight against The Rose can begin in earnest. We must act with haste. Quests Kara SuLema: The Rose continues to oppress and imprison the innocent. With your help, <Character>, I believe we can strike back and turn the storm.- Smoke in the Trees
Kara SuLema: One of my watchers has brought disturbing news to me regarding a nearby village. It's time to see the actions of The Rose for yourself. - The Border Prison
Kara SuLema: I sent some of my watchers to look into the location that the Rose soldier, Carat, directed us toward. Kara SuLema: It's a prison on the border of the swamp- and it's where the clawkin and other prisoners have been taken as well. Are you with us? - Chains of Command
Kara SuLema: Once Elanee is safe, find me and we'll face the monster that's been making the shackles! - Haven on the Horizon
Kara SuLema: Ah, good timing, <Character>. One of the Clawkin leaders has just arrived. I imagine she'd want to thank you personally! - Caught in a Vise
Kara SuLema: The threat to the Haven is imminent. We have to convince the dravir to accept our assistance before it's too late. - The Siege of Haven
Kara SuLema: The Haven is under attack from both dragons and The Rose! It's up to us to push them back. - One Step Forward
Kara SuLema: With the Rose repelled once more, word is spreading of the Vind. The resistance grows by the day, thanks to your effort. - Supply and Demand
Kara SuLema: Lest you wonder, Princess Melissa has agreed to join our cause. And she's not the only one. Unfortunately... Kara SuLema: With so many refugees and now soldiers joining the resistance, we're running low on resources. Kara SuLema: I've called a meeting to hopefully address the situation, and I'd like you to attend, <Character>. - A Hero of The People
Kara SuLema: So, how did your visit to Falconreach go? Was Ash able to help with our supply issue? - Trust
Kara SuLema: You're right on time, <Character>! I was just about to call a meeting to discuss what you accomplished in Falconreach. - Quest! - begins Trust quest.
- The Shears
Kara SuLema: So this... Sir Leon invited you to The Shears to help with his plans? Hmm... I know I don't need to worry about you, but please, stay safe! You can now access The Shears from the Greenguard Region of the Travel Map. - To The Shears! - teleports player to The Shears.
- Melissa
Kara SuLema: Perfect timing, <Character>. I... need to speak with Melissa. I would like you to be present when I do, if you do not mind. - Lost and Found
Kara SuLema: Welcome back, <Character>. How did your um, talk, with Melissa go? - Severed Hope
Kara SuLema: We recieved a message from Swordhaven, <Character>! The Rose has agreed to parley! They'll see reason, I know they will. - Changing Winds
Kara SuLema: ...I have to do something. Everyone's counting on me. But I can't protect them from that monster. What to do...? - Fight, Flight, & Fire
Kara SuLema: <Character>... You're... You're back. What happened? What of The Rose and General Akanthus? - A Day for Farewells
Kara SuLema: I see. I've... I've decided our next step. Your next step. Talk Kara SuLema: Is there anything you'd like to discuss? - Sulen'Eska
<Character>: Can you tell me more about Sulen'Eska? With so many people here, how has it been kept safe? Kara SuLema: Sulen'Eska is a home for many who have nowhere else to go. Kara SuLema: It is also our base of operations, and our training grounds. Kara SuLema: We keep ourselves safe through magic and vigilance. Kara SuLema: We use the winds, the swamp, and our senses to prevent The Rose from finding us... but they are ever tenacious. Kara SuLema: It is not an easy life, but we are united and have each other. - Wind Elves
<Character>: I don't remember seeing any Wind Elves in Greenguard before I was frozen. Where did you come from? Kara SuLema: I- Ah. You really have been frozen for quite a while, haven't you? Kara SuLema: The Wind Elves came here from the Dreamwood some... time ago. Kara SuLema: The Dreamwood was and forever will be our home, but certain circumstances led to our group leaving and settling here. Kara SuLema: I apologize. It is an uncomfortable topic. Perhaps we could discuss this at a later time. <Character>: I understand. Another time then. - Replay Intro - see initial dialogue when approaching Kara SuLema for the first time.
Heal & potions - fully replenishes HP, MP, and potions. Add Kara as Guest - invites Kara SuLema as Guest A. As original options and quests, but with new dialogue when approaching her: Kara SuLema: Thank you for visiting, <Character>. If you'd like, we can reminisce on your journey with the Vind. Or do you need a refresher on your next goal? Kara SuLema: Head west to Swordhaven, past the checkpoint. If you can't find a way to get through to Jaania, perhaps try King Alteon. Mritha: Hey there, <Character>. How's <Dragon>? Want to talk about when you first came to Sulen'Eska and joined the Vind? Past Quests - teleports player to Kara SuLema; access to past quests. Other information Sulen'Eska has been modified during various Reimagined releases; any retired content has been archived here. After turning in 2 Rose Emblem to Lojaali Vero, players can access the shroomcase behind him and the vortex in front of him, as well as two replacement access points:Meeting Area is inaccessible on foot between completion of On Broken Wings and Starcrossed - The Thorns of the Rose. (Pop-up: It seems Kara isn't here at the moment...) Rose Emblem requirement was lowered from 20 to 2 on January 25th, 2019. Sulen'Eska's entry requirement was updated on May 8th, 2020; more information can be found in the May 8th, 2020 Design Notes. Sulen'Eska received a major reimagining on May 29th, 2020, including dialogue rewrites, expansions, and quest modifications; more information can be found in the May 29th, 2020 Design Notes. Sulen'Eska received a second major reimagining on July 31st, 2020, including a complete visual overhaul of the entire town and many NPCs, adjusted locations of many NPCs, expanded areas, and a vortex "elevator"; more information can be found in the July 31st, 2020 Design Notes. The Wind Elves' names are derived from Scandinavian languages, while the Clawkins' names are derived from Caribbean languages. From Eukara Vox:quote:
Wind elves have varying degrees of grey colouration due to the strength of their abilities. The darker the grey, the more powerful their magic. The lighter the grey, the weaker or more specific their magic is. I say specific, since someone may be born only able to do something very specific with their magic (like being able to spin wind in very thin filaments that would be useful for boring into things), which won't make them particularly powerful but very useful. Most wind elves will have a varied spectrum of abilities with their magic, even those whose magic is weak. The wings and eye colour match, and is based on personality type. Wings do vary in form, but that is simply a genetic thing. Wings manifest themselves when the elf's magic develops and solidifies itself within the elf. Some get their abilities and magic early, as in Kara. She got her wings very young. And some may not get their wings, even as they leave puberty and enter adulthood. You will see some without them yet, and those tend to be better warriors than magical fighters. I believe the Elf, Svera, you may meet soon is one of those. The commonality between them all is the body markings and skin colour. Wind elves vary, as I like for a people to have variation within them. Humans have such beautiful variations and characteristics throughout the world, creating one of the best and most complex canvases of art. I figured, if humans are so wonderfully made and varied, I would like the Wind Elves to be like that. As to the presence of wings, the wings can conjure wind if a natural breeze or storm is not present to be manipulated. Wings can also conjure air movement for use in fighting. And, perhaps there is something interesting in their people's history that is yet unrevealed. From geopetal:quote:
Akanthus, the soldiers hunting Sulen'Eska (a village that, despite having a static location on the map, actually moves since it's a guerrilla camp), and Espina Rosa are the extreme side of the Rose. If you have a group of elvish mercenaries attacking your forces while hiding out in the depths of swamp... you're probably gonna send in your hard core special ops guys to take them out, which is what Akanthus did. Most people in Lore, and probably a lot of the grunt-level Rose members, don't even realize what's going on in the swamp, other than occasional "attacks" by the Vind. With most beings, if you're happy and protected inside your bubble then you live your life or, conversely, whatever issues are happening on your doorstep are much more important than stuff that's happening someplace you'll never visit.
