Dialogue
Sulen'Eska
(before A Day for Farewells)

When approaching Kara SuLema for the first time:
Kara SuLema: Welcome, <Character>. I am Kara SuLema, leader of the Vind.

Kara SuLema: I am sure you have many questions of me, but first, I must ask of yourself—
Kara SuLema: Why have you sought us out? What are you looking for with the Vind?

Kara SuLema: Informing oneself is a wise first step. Thank you for humoring my request.
Kara SuLema: Now, what would you ask of me, <Character>?

Kara SuLema: We are a collection of those who have been wronged, or know those who have been wronged by the actions of The Rose.
Kara SuLema: We are refugees, fighters, volunteers, and family. We even have a contingent of DragonLords!
Kara SuLema: We rescue whoever we can from The Rose...
Kara SuLema: ...but maybe it's time we took more active measures in stopping their tyranny.
Kara SuLema: If you're willing to join us, to help our cause, we may be able to start pushing The Rose back.

Kara SuLema: The Rose is... complicated.
Kara SuLema: There may be those with good intentions, but they all run unchecked. It all comes down to Jaania.

Kara SuLema: She is the leader of The Rose. After she saved Lore, she rose to prominence as a hero and savior, but she's since withdrawn.
Kara SuLema: And so, her organization has grown and spread beyond her vision.
Kara SuLema: Many now take advantage of the name of The Rose to pursue their own agenda.
Kara SuLema: But the responsibility still lies with Jaania. The Rose is her organization and their actions are therefore hers.
Kara SuLema: Even so... I do not believe... I cannot believe that Jaania would approve of the methods being used by her subordinates.

Kara SuLema: The rumors you've heard are all true. The Rose captures and imprisons magical creatures and peoples.
Kara SuLema: All in the name of protecting Greenguard and Lore from 'the dangers of magic'.
Kara SuLema: I hope you will be willing to help us stop The Rose and save those who can be saved.

When approaching Kara SuLema thereafter:
Kara SuLema: With your arrival, <Character>, the fight against The Rose can begin in earnest. We must act with haste.

  • Quests
Kara SuLema: The Rose continues to oppress and imprison the innocent. With your help, <Character>, I believe we can strike back and turn the storm.
    • Smoke in the Trees
Kara SuLema: One of my watchers has brought disturbing news to me regarding a nearby village. It's time to see the actions of The Rose for yourself.

    • The Border Prison
Kara SuLema: I sent some of my watchers to look into the location that the Rose soldier, Carat, directed us toward.
Kara SuLema: It's a prison on the border of the swamp- and it's where the clawkin and other prisoners have been taken as well. Are you with us?

    • Chains of Command
Kara SuLema: Once Elanee is safe, find me and we'll face the monster that's been making the shackles!

    • Haven on the Horizon
Kara SuLema: Ah, good timing, <Character>. One of the Clawkin leaders has just arrived. I imagine she'd want to thank you personally!

    • Caught in a Vise
Kara SuLema: The threat to the Haven is imminent. We have to convince the dravir to accept our assistance before it's too late.

    • The Siege of Haven
Kara SuLema: The Haven is under attack from both dragons and The Rose! It's up to us to push them back.

    • One Step Forward
Kara SuLema: With the Rose repelled once more, word is spreading of the Vind. The resistance grows by the day, thanks to your effort.

    • Supply and Demand
Kara SuLema: Lest you wonder, Princess Melissa has agreed to join our cause. And she's not the only one. Unfortunately...
Kara SuLema: With so many refugees and now soldiers joining the resistance, we're running low on resources.
Kara SuLema: I've called a meeting to hopefully address the situation, and I'd like you to attend, <Character>.

    • A Hero of The People
Kara SuLema: So, how did your visit to Falconreach go? Was Ash able to help with our supply issue?

    • Trust
Kara SuLema: You're right on time, <Character>! I was just about to call a meeting to discuss what you accomplished in Falconreach.
      • Quest! - begins Trust quest.

    • The Shears
Kara SuLema: So this... Sir Leon invited you to The Shears to help with his plans? Hmm... I know I don't need to worry about you, but please, stay safe!
You can now access The Shears from the Greenguard Region of the Travel Map.
      • To The Shears! - teleports player to The Shears.

    • Melissa
Kara SuLema: Perfect timing, <Character>. I... need to speak with Melissa. I would like you to be present when I do, if you do not mind.

    • Lost and Found
Kara SuLema: Welcome back, <Character>. How did your um, talk, with Melissa go?

    • Severed Hope
Kara SuLema: We recieved a message from Swordhaven, <Character>! The Rose has agreed to parley! They'll see reason, I know they will.

    • Changing Winds
Kara SuLema: ...I have to do something. Everyone's counting on me. But I can't protect them from that monster. What to do...?

    • Fight, Flight, & Fire
Kara SuLema: <Character>... You're... You're back. What happened? What of The Rose and General Akanthus?

    • A Day for Farewells
Kara SuLema: I see. I've... I've decided our next step. Your next step.
  • Talk
Kara SuLema: Is there anything you'd like to discuss?
    • Sulen'Eska
<Character>: Can you tell me more about Sulen'Eska? With so many people here, how has it been kept safe?
Kara SuLema: Sulen'Eska is a home for many who have nowhere else to go.
Kara SuLema: It is also our base of operations, and our training grounds.
Kara SuLema: We keep ourselves safe through magic and vigilance.
Kara SuLema: We use the winds, the swamp, and our senses to prevent The Rose from finding us... but they are ever tenacious.
Kara SuLema: It is not an easy life, but we are united and have each other.

    • Wind Elves
<Character>: I don't remember seeing any Wind Elves in Greenguard before I was frozen. Where did you come from?
Kara SuLema: I- Ah. You really have been frozen for quite a while, haven't you?
Kara SuLema: The Wind Elves came here from the Dreamwood some... time ago.
Kara SuLema: The Dreamwood was and forever will be our home, but certain circumstances led to our group leaving and settling here.
Kara SuLema: I apologize. It is an uncomfortable topic. Perhaps we could discuss this at a later time.
<Character>: I understand. Another time then.

    Smoke in the Trees

Kara SuLema: Recently, there have been some disturbing reports from our ally, Niki.

Kara SuLema: She is a very secretive mage who joined our cause some time ago.
Kara SuLema: Her specialties of stealth and scouting have proven useful.
Kara SuLema: I fear that the effects of her actions may have been indirectly detected by The Rose, however.

Kara SuLema: The Rose has apparently been targeting a Clawkin village in the swamp, observing and occasionally taking captives.

Kara SuLema: Niki has been evacuating the few she can while trying to remain undetected, but it seems that a larger Rose force is now on the way.

Kara SuLema: Is everything alright, Bote? What's the matter?

Kara SuLema: Niki's back? But she was supposed to be keeping watch–

Kara SuLema: I see. It seems The Rose has acted much quicker than we expected. We must put a stop to this at once.
Kara SuLema: You wanted to see evidence of the evils of The Rose, <Character>? You're welcome to join me.
Kara SuLema: Please, Bote, do not worry. We will do everything in our power to save what we can.

Kara SuLema: Just as there are humans who commit great evils, there are Clawkin who eschew their tribes and are full of hatred.
Kara SuLema: As the Clawkin are normally so secluded, it makes sense that you've only had poor encounters with the ones you've met in the past.

Kara SuLema: We... we're too late...

Kara SuLema: But we weren't fast enough...

    Kara SuLema: The poor Clawkin...

Kara SuLema: Not one step closer.

    Kara SuLema: Who are you?

Kara SuLema: Let him run. He poses no threat to us.
    Kara SuLema: But this...
Kara SuLema: It appears as though we still have a chance to save these poor souls, and possibly others.
Kara SuLema: Will you join us, <Character>?

    The Border Prison

Kara SuLema: Thank you for agreeing to join us on this mission, <Character>.
Kara SuLema: Now that we know where the clawkin were taken, thanks to that Rose soldier, Carat, it's time for us to strike.

Kara SuLema: Only as back up. We sent some scouts ahead, and the facility seems to be much more than simply a prison.
Kara SuLema: It's a fortress. Assaulting it with the few resistance members we have now would likely cause undue attention.
Kara SuLema: However, if a pair of renegades were to slip in on the breeze..
Kara SuLema: Well, I trust your capabilities and mine. And I'd rather not risk my people unnecessarily.

Kara SuLema: I'm glad to hear it.
Kara SuLema: After we've gathered the attention of The Rose inside the fort, we'll have a group of scouts waiting outside to escort any liberated prisoners.
Kara SuLema: With any luck, they'll be able to make it back here before The Rose can call in reinforcements.
    Kara SuLema: So, shall we–

Kara SuLema: Ogorek, you must calm yourself. Take a breath.
Kara SuLema: I cannot say for certain if she is in this fortress, Ogorek. But you have my word that if she is there, we will find her.

    Kara SuLema: Oh, Ogorek...

Kara SuLema: Word of your return is spreading, <Character>, and bringing with it a beacon of hope.

Kara SuLema: The whispers of the return of the hero follow the wind wherever it goes.
Kara SuLema: And the hope you inspire draws others to join the Vind.
Kara SuLema: But such talk can wait until after.
Kara SuLema: Are you prepared, <Character>?

Kara SuLema: Something's not right. The creatures we fought on the way here...

Kara SuLema: Yes. I can't imagine they were fighting of their own will.
Kara SuLema: And if the path of such atrocity leads here... then we may be stepping into something even more heinous than we expected.

Kara SuLema: It's horrible. I... I cannot see Jaania approving such methods.
Kara SuLema: But if not her... then who?

Kara SuLema: Regardless of The Rose's internal politics, we cannot stand for this.
Kara SuLema: When we head in, we'll split up. I'll tackle the upper floors if you'll get the ground floor and any dungeons.
Kara SuLema: We shall leave a pathway of safety for the prisoners in our wake.
Kara SuLema: When you're done, meet me back out here with the scouts and the prisoners.

    Chains of Command

Kara SuLema: Please, Magus, can't you see the pain you're causing them?
Kara SuLema: Taking their families, their freedom...
Kara SuLema: This is beyond cruel!

Kara SuLema: You'll not capture any more innocents!

    Kara SuLema: It's awful!

Kara SuLema: You... you put the Clawkin and others through so much pain...
Kara SuLema: Just to reach me?

Kara SuLema: I... I can't let you continue this. This has to stop!

Kara SuLema: Don't let him escape! I'll protect the prisoners!

Kara SuLema: The golemancer fled back through the fort.

Kara SuLema: I... These Clawkin must be my priority. Go!

Kara SuLema: There you are! As you can see, the Clawkin and I have made it out safely.
    Kara SuLema: What of Z?

Kara SuLema: I'm sure we'll meet him again. Such worms will always find a way to wriggle to the surface.
Kara SuLema: Most importantly, we've saved all the Clawkin and prisoners we could.

Kara SuLema: A tempting idea, but we weren't prepared to do so. We don't have the forces necessary to hold it.
Kara SuLema: The Rose will be back with reinforcements before long.
Kara SuLema: And should we try to hold the fort, it will just give them another reason to ply Swordhaven for resources.
Kara SuLema: Come, <Character>. Let us return to Sulen'Eska before we must fight our way back!

    Haven on the Horizon

Kara SuLema: Yes, Bajacu'. Thanks to the brave efforts of <Character> and others of the Vind.
Kara SuLema: Ah yes, <Character>, this is Bajacu'. She is a Cuyo of the Gua'Kia.

Kara SuLema: For many of The Rose, magic has been the source of pain, of suffering, and heartbreak.
Kara SuLema: For their leader, most of all.
Kara SuLema: By suppressing magic, in their minds, they desire to make everything right. Safe, and balanced.

Kara SuLema: Wise words, Cuyo Bajacu'. We of the Vind agree.

Kara SuLema: Indeed. As we have seen recently, The Rose will not be content to leave you be.
Kara SuLema: Do you think you could convince the other Clawkin leaders and villages to join ranks with us?

Kara SuLema: Ah, Niki, there is no need to apologize.

    Kara SuLema: Report.

    Kara SuLema: I... see.

Kara SuLema: This is grave news. We must warn them and begin preparations.

Kara SuLema: Right. I apologize, but we must be brief.
Kara SuLema: <Character>, this is Niki. She is the spy I mentioned to you before, who warned us of the Rose attack on the Gua'Kia.
Kara SuLema: Niki, you've seen <Character>, have you not?

Kara SuLema: Good. Now, the Haven is a hidden fort where a local group of Dravir have lived for quite some time in peace.
Kara SuLema: We've tried making inroads into an alliance with them, but so far most of our efforts have been rebuffed.
Kara SuLema: They do trust our ally, Mritha, however, so she may be our way in.
Kara SuLema: For reasons that would take too long to explain in full at the moment, if dragons were to find them, it would spell disaster for their people.
Kara SuLema: The Buo'Kia Clawkin seem to be in the path of The Rose as well. We cannot- we must not let what happened to the Gua'Kia happen again.

Kara SuLema: We will head for the Buo'Kia Clawkin first.
Kara SuLema: But... we don't have the forces to escort them all back to Sulen'Eska and defend the Haven as well.
Kara SuLema: We'll somehow have to convince the Dravir to provide sanctuary. There's no other option.

Kara SuLema: We've no time to lose. I shall notify Taivas of our plans to begin mobilization of Vind forces toward the Haven.

Kara SuLema: Well done, Bajacu', Niki. Without your presence, I doubt we could have convinced them otherwise.

    Kara SuLema: Yes.

Kara SuLema: Niki, go on ahead, we will catch up to you when the Buo'Kia are ready to go.

Kara SuLema: Here we are. Niki should be waiting for us just inside.

    Kara SuLema: Observe.

Kara SuLema: Well, come on, all of you. Hurry on through!

    Caught in a Vise

Kara SuLema: It's good to see you safe, Mritha. This is <Character>, the hero of Falconreach!

Kara SuLema: Mritha is a DragonLord, and together with her partner, Odgne, she has been helping us protect the Haven and the dravir who live here.

Kara SuLema: I apologize, Srazhenie, but the clawkin had nowhere else to go.
Kara SuLema: Should you have us, though, we will help to defend the Haven as though it were our own.

Kara SuLema: Their history is tragic and full of conflict. I understand their fear of betrayal all too well.

Kara SuLema: This history lesson has been wonderful, Mritha, but the Rose offensive is surely imminent. Do you have any word of the dragons?

Kara SuLema: We can't let that happen! If the dravir attempt to ally with The Rose, they'll end up like the clawkin!

Kara SuLema: You make us sound so... manipulative. I don't know if I'm comfortable forcing–

Kara SuLema: Yes. I apologize that the epicenter must fall on the Haven, but if The Rose is leading the dragons here...

Kara SuLema: No, you're just in time, <Character>! And this must be...

    A Decisive Blow

Kara SuLema: I take it from your return that your mission went well, Niki?

    Kara SuLema: Well done!

Kara SuLema: We're still holding strong, but we can't sustain the defense forever.
Kara SuLema: Without fresh supplies from the outside, it's a matter of time before we're worn down.
Kara SuLema: While the dragons are ferocious, without The Rose corralling them, they'll eventually disperse with enough counterforce.
Kara SuLema: So we must strike at The Rose.

Kara SuLema: <Character>, that job falls to you. The rest of us will hold off The Rose soldiers to buy you time.
Kara SuLema: I trust you to do what must be done. Are you ready?

Kara SuLema: Mritha, calm yourself, we have a job to do.

    Kara SuLema: Akanthus...

Kara SuLema: <Character>, this one is yours. We'll buy you all the time you need!

Kara SuLema: So... Akanthus is behind these attacks...

    Kara SuLema: I don't understand.

Kara SuLema: How could Jaania support such atrocities?

Kara SuLema: We could not stand idle and let you and your homes be destroyed. We only did what was right.

Kara SuLema: I hope this isn't too forward of me, but should you want, Sulen'Eska and The Vind are ever open to the dravir.

Kara SuLema: I see. While I am disappointed, I understand that choice.

    One Step Forward

Kara SuLema: Thank you all for gathering at my behest.
Kara SuLema: I wanted to... I wanted to thank you all for your help. For believing in me. In this cause.
    Kara SuLema: In the Vind.
Kara SuLema: It's thanks to your hard work that we were able to save the clawkin, and defend the Dravir against the odds.
Kara SuLema: Since we repelled the attack on Haven, more and more join us in Sulen'Eska by the day.
Kara SuLema: Tales of the heroics of the Vind, all of us, all of the resistance, are spreading like seeds on the wind.
Kara SuLema: But as our numbers grow, I can't help but worry.
Kara SuLema: I... I didn't ask to lead the Vind.
Kara SuLema: No matter what happens, I just hope what we're doing is right. That we're making Lore a better place.

Kara SuLema: Thank you, Niki, Bajacu'.
Kara SuLema: When I started the Vind from the lost scraps of the Sanctuary, I did it because there was no one else who would.
    Kara SuLema: Who could.
    Kara SuLema: I truly appreciate–

Kara SuLema: Svera? What is the matter? Is there another disagreement between the refugees?

Kara SuLema: Let our guest in, Svera.

Kara SuLema: I have confidence I will be safe.

Kara SuLema: And who might you be?

Kara SuLema: A pleasure to meet you, Melissa. I am Kara, leader of the Vind.
Kara SuLema: ...And I got the impression there was something you urgently wanted to discuss with me?

Kara SuLema: Your mother is Queen Maeve... of the Fairies?

    Kara SuLema: Mritha!

Kara SuLema: Please, excuse Mritha. She–

Kara SuLema: I'd be glad to provide any aid possible, but–

Kara SuLema: But we need to be careful now more than ever before.
Kara SuLema: We have more refugees to care for, more fighters to train, just... more everything.
Kara SuLema: We will reconvene with you in a moment, Melissa. But please, allow us some time for private counsel.

    Kara SuLema: Private. Counsel.

Kara SuLema: Svera can show you the way out, if you'd like.

Kara SuLema: Melissa, princess of the fairies...

Kara SuLema: I haven't had any dealings with the fairies personally, but I see that the rumors of them being... capricious are not unfounded.

Kara SuLema: Thank you, everyone. I'm glad we are all in agreement.
Kara SuLema: Prepare yourselves, we're off to visit the Fairy Court!

Kara SuLema: The fairies must have gone already.

Kara SuLema: Melissa... I'm sorry... If only we were quicker...

    Supply and Demand

Kara SuLema: I... I think I could arrange that.

    Kara SuLema: Um...

    Kara SuLema: ...

Kara SuLema: Ah, Melissa! You got the message then?

Kara SuLema: As you can see, Sulen'Eska is facing a number of... logistical problems.
Kara SuLema: The surrounding swamp is dangerous, and expanding our territory too quickly may draw unwanted attention.
Kara SuLema: We're also struggling to keep everyone fed and safe.
Kara SuLema: We have many refugees and soldiers, but we don't have the systems in place to support them.

Kara SuLema: Well, I thought since you're a princess... you might have some insight in how best to proceed...

Kara SuLema: I... I apologize if I presume too much! This has all been swept up in the wind much quicker than I had anticipated.

    Kara SuLema: ...I... I see...

Kara SuLema: While they're currently provisioning us with resources, they're... not supposed to be.
Kara SuLema: King Alteon's protection of Falconreach from Rose interference came under the stipulation that they do not outright oppose the Rose.
Kara SuLema: The Rose can't interfere with Falconreach, and Falconreach can't interfere with The Rose.
Kara SuLema: Asking them to take a larger, more obvious role in, well, the resistance, could bring that delicate balance crashing down.

Kara SuLema: Bajacu', what do you think? Would your people be comfortable moving to Falconreach?

Kara SuLema: I understand, Bajacu'. We will not force the clawkin to leave.
Kara SuLema: But for those that can or are willing, this could be a promising option.

Kara SuLema: Yes... You're right, Melissa.

Kara SuLema: Well, being the Hero of Falconreach, I think we can trust your judgement on that.

Kara SuLema: What a wonderful idea! If you could establish a more formal dialogue with Falconreach, I'm sure they'll listen to you!

Kara SuLema: It wouldn't have the same impact as you and <Dragon>, the heroes, in person. Or dragon.
Kara SuLema: Here, let me draft a letter for you to deliver to Ash...
Kara SuLema: And of course, since we're trying not to draw attention to ourselves, I suggest you and <Dragon> avoid the main roads, if possible.

    Trust

Kara SuLema: Thank you for making the journey to Falconreach, <Character> and <Dragon>.
Kara SuLema: I am glad to hear Ash was able to negotiate so successfully on our behalf!
Kara SuLema: Where to begin... Ah!
Kara SuLema: I'll send Taivas and a few scouts to establish the route to Falconreach.
Kara SuLema: With luck, we'll be able to begin transferring refugees within a few days.
Kara SuLema: Bajacu', would you mind organizing the emigration?

Kara SuLema: As for the other information you have provided, <Character>, regarding The Rose...

Kara SuLema: It is both comforting, and troubling, to hear that the extent of The Rose's misdeeds are not widely known.
Kara SuLema: Comforting, in that we may still hold faith in those who are unaware—that they may be swayed were the truth to come to light.
Kara SuLema: But also troubling, in that our struggles go largely unnoticed...
Kara SuLema: ...Yet even without the explicit knowledge of The Rose's actions, there are those in Swordhaven willing to pledge their support...
    Kara SuLema: How very generous!

Kara SuLema: Er, yes, you're quite right, of course.
Kara SuLema: I will see what information we can learn about these benefactors before freely accepting their aid.
    Kara SuLema: *Sigh*
Kara SuLema: As for parley with The Rose...
    Kara SuLema: Hmm...

Kara SuLema: For reconciliation, there must be some measure of trust... but...
Kara SuLema: ...I'm worried about making the wrong decision.

Kara SuLema: You're right, <Character>, thank you.

Kara SuLema: Oh, yes, I almost forgot, I wanted to speak to you about that.
Kara SuLema: Melissa was feeling... restless, and wanted to "find something to fight".
Kara SuLema: With the constant Rose patrols in the swamp, I figured it wouldn't hurt to have her do some rounds.
Kara SuLema: Niki accompanied her to keep an eye out and make sure she stays safe. And doesn't get too carried away.
Kara SuLema: But... they should have returned by now.
Kara SuLema: I know you've just returned from a trip, <Character>, but could you please do me a favor and go with Mritha to search for them?
Kara SuLema: They went pretty far south, so I worry that they may have inadvertently gone into Rose territory.
Kara SuLema: You know the place, Mritha. Within sight of The Rose tower.

Kara SuLema: And so I send our best out into the wilds...
Kara SuLema: Please, stay safe, and return soon.

    Melissa

Kara SuLema: Melissa... We need to talk about your behavior.

Kara SuLema: We truly appreciate your aid in the Vind, but...
Kara SuLema: You must control your aggression.

Kara SuLema: Er... well, I asked <Character> to be here.
Kara SuLema: <Character> is a hero, after all. A defender of the people!
Kara SuLema: Which is um... which is what the Vind is striving to achieve.
Kara SuLema: To come to the aid and defense of those who need it.

Kara SuLema: What I mean is, we aren't here to seek glory, or... or bring revolution to Swordhaven.
Kara SuLema: We're here to defend those that cannot defend themselves, to free those who are unjustly imprisoned.
Kara SuLema: To shelter those with nowhere else to go.

    Kara SuLema: You don't understand...

    Kara SuLema: The Sanctuary.
Kara SuLema: I... I can't let that happen again...

    Kara SuLema: It was.
    Kara SuLema: ...Was.
Kara SuLema: They tried to reach too far. They became too much of a threat to The Rose.

    Kara SuLema: Always.

    Kara SuLema: Melissa...

    Kara SuLema: ...

Kara SuLema: She's right. I know she's right.
Kara SuLema: The Rose probably isn't going to just leave us be.
Kara SuLema: They're not going to give up, and if we're always just defending- just... reacting to their actions...
Kara SuLema: Then we're always going to be on the back foot.
    Kara SuLema: But...

Kara SuLema: Yes... you're right, of course. There's still hope.
Kara SuLema: I suppose... If The Rose is not willing to meet, or the negotiations fail...

Kara SuLema: Well... at a certain point, we'll have to bring the fight to them.
Kara SuLema: Thank you for listening, <Character>.

Kara SuLema: You're right, of course. You're right.
Kara SuLema: Please, excuse me, <Character>. I have a lot to consider and plan.
Kara SuLema: Actually... Do you mind checking in on Melissa? Just to... make sure she's not getting into trouble?

Kara SuLema: I... thank you, <Character>.

    Lost and Found

Kara SuLema: Thank you for... speaking to Melissa, <Character>.
Kara SuLema: I'm glad to hear that she understands the necessity of restraint in these tenuous times.

Kara SuLema: Not yet, no, but neither has The Rose been out in force, either.
Kara SuLema: At the very least, it seems like they're not trying to provoke us.
Kara SuLema: Which reminds me, Mritha has sent word to the DragonLords of Dragonsgrasp.
Kara SuLema: It's her hope that if we can get some of them to join our cause—

Kara SuLema: Take a deep breath, Svera. What has happened?

Kara SuLema: Did anyone follow her?

    Kara SuLema: Thank you, Svera.
Kara SuLema: <Character>, I hate to impose, but...

Kara SuLema: If you and <Dragon> are willing, please.
Kara SuLema: I'm going to help calm everyone down and see if I can't figure out what happened here.

    Severed Hope

    Kara SuLema: ...
Kara SuLema: Thank you, everyone, for being here.
Kara SuLema: Today, we may finally see the fruits of our labor.
Kara SuLema: Today, we have a chance at peace. At freedom!
Kara SuLema: Today, we begin negotiations with The Rose for a cease to the senseless conflict between our peoples.
    Kara SuLema: ...
Kara SuLema: But it is not guaranteed.
Kara SuLema: And yet, even as I dare hope...
Kara SuLema: Peace will not bring back those we've lost, nor repair the suffering inflicted by the actions of The Rose.
Kara SuLema: We must do our best to let this be the start of the process of healing.
Kara SuLema: Whatever may happen, I want to keep you all safe. Everyone in Sulen'Eska.

Kara SuLema: ...Then it cannot be said that we haven't done all in our power to strive for a peaceful resolution.
Kara SuLema: But I'm not so naive as to rule out any potential treachery.
Kara SuLema: Melissa, Mritha, Niki, I'd like you to attend as security.
Kara SuLema: And of course, <Character> and <Dragon>, if you would be so kind.
Kara SuLema: If things were to take a turn for the worse, I would feel much safer with you at my side.

Kara SuLema: As for everyone else... Bajacu', your insight into the conditions of your people and others of the swamps and forests would be most valuable.

Kara SuLema: Taivas, I would like to request your presence as well.
Kara SuLema: I think it would be fair to say that we would not fare well without your well-honed skills of negotiation.

    Kara SuLema: Thank you.
Kara SuLema: Lojaali, Halda, I leave Sulen'Eska in your care.

    Kara SuLema: Always.
Kara SuLema: The meeting is supposed to take place on the road to Falconreach, in neutral territory.
Kara SuLema: Let's get going, everyone. For a brighter future for all!

Kara SuLema: General Akanthus? Where is Jaania?

Kara SuLema: More important than an end to the conflict between The Rose and the Vind!?

Kara SuLema: Your tone gives me the impression that you are disinclined to offer peace.

Kara SuLema: That was not the people of Sulen'Eska!

Kara SuLema: We take in those with the spirit to live on no matter what hardships The Rose has borne against them.
Kara SuLema: We take in the innocent and weak, and those who cannot defend themselves!

Kara SuLema: You don't have to answer him, <Character>.

Kara SuLema: Taivas, step back. We're leaving.
Kara SuLema: I see now that I expected too much to hope for The Rose to be civil.

    Kara SuLema: You—

Kara SuLema: Melissa, let him go.

Kara SuLema: <Character>- don't! Please. We need to hurry back to Sulen'Eska! We don't know what they've done in our absence...

Kara SuLema: No, Melissa, you mustn't blame yourself. I fell for his words as well.
Kara SuLema: He was looking to provoke an incident, and he succeeded.
Kara SuLema: This is all my fault... I was... too hopeful.

Kara SuLema: I... I expected Jaania...

Kara SuLema: No. No. The stories about Akanthus... if you weren't able to even to put a scratch on him...

Kara SuLema: This... this isn't right. None of this is right. Jaania wouldn't stand for any of this...
Kara SuLema: Not the Jaania I know...

    Changing Winds

Kara SuLema: It's happening again. It's all crashing down again. It's...

Kara SuLema: What I need is to make sure everyone's safe.
Kara SuLema: Maybe we can head east. No, no, The Rose is sure to be blocking the roads.
Kara SuLema: South? Doomwood would claim many, and Amityvale is long occupied by The Rose...

Kara SuLema: I can't. Not again. Not like the Sanctuary.
Kara SuLema: I can't lose you too.

Kara SuLema: There is no moving forward. Not anymore. It's only a matter of time.

Kara SuLema: Until General Akanthus enters Betrubung at the head of an army and eliminates Sulen'eska and all who dwell here.

Kara SuLema: Don't be foolish. Even <Character> couldn't do anything against Akanthus.

    Kara SuLema: I... I don't know.
Kara SuLema: We still have refugees who call Sulen'eska home. We have folk who would rather fight and die than be uprooted once again.
Kara SuLema: And even then, we have nowhere else to go.
Kara SuLema: I had hoped that Jaania would have been at the parley, that I could reason with her. But Akanthus...

Kara SuLema: He... he wants the people of Greenguard on his side.
Kara SuLema: By provoking us into throwing the first blow, he gains legitimacy for his actions in the eyes of the people.
Kara SuLema: As much as we may have grievances with The Rose, the fact remains that they are and have been a popular movement.
Kara SuLema: But a movement based on fear and hate needs targets, or people will lose faith.

Kara SuLema: The destruction of Sulen'eska would be another target, another victory. And more power consolidated under Akanthus' leadership.
Kara SuLema: It happened with Popsprocket, it happened with the Sanctuary. It will happen again.
Kara SuLema: And through all of this, not a single word from Jaania...

Kara SuLema: I know her! She wouldn't.
Kara SuLema: I just... I know.

    Kara SuLema: It's... a possibility.

Kara SuLema: But true or not, that sort of speculation won't help us now.

    Kara SuLema: ...

    A Day for Farewells

Kara SuLema: See? Isn't it good to be out of that stuffy tower?

Kara SuLema: Last I heard, it was proceeding according to schedule.
Kara SuLema: But they were... quick to close off general communications after receiving The Rose's supplies and aid.

Kara SuLema: Many humans are still distrustful of us. We struggle to find our place.
Kara SuLema: The memories of war remain fresh in all our peoples' minds.

Kara SuLema: But it is such a beautiful day!
Kara SuLema: Why don't we talk of gentler subjects?

Kara SuLema: Relax. Breathe easy, Jaania.
Kara SuLema: Peace will come. It will take time, but I have hope.

    Kara SuLema: Taivas? Y-yes.
Kara SuLema: Sorry. I... I must have dozed off.

    Kara SuLema: Dragons? How... unexpected.
Kara SuLema: I shall prepare to meet them shortly. Thank you, Taivas.

Kara SuLema: Welcome to Sulen'Eska, DragonLords.
Kara SuLema: I apologize. You must find our hospitality lacking for those of your station.

Kara SuLema: The Rose has been driven back, then?
Kara SuLema: You've returned with new friends, but I can smell the smoke and ash from you all.
    Kara SuLema: What has happened?

    Kara SuLema: ...

    Kara SuLema: Another way...

Kara SuLema: This... couldn't be what she wanted. It can't be.

Kara SuLema: <Character>. I have a favor to ask of you.

Kara SuLema: I want you to travel to Swordhaven and seek an audience with Jaania.

Kara SuLema: I refuse to believe Jaania would approve of what The Rose has been doing.
Kara SuLema: I want you to find out what's happening.
Kara SuLema: Why does Jaania allow General Akanthus to enact his brutal campaign against all things magical?

Kara SuLema: I don't know how you'll find a way, but I believe in you, <Character>.

Kara SuLema: With tensions so high at the moment, and so much uncertainty, I can't say what might happen if I were to be discovered inside Swordhaven.
Kara SuLema: But with your reputation, even if you were recognized, I imagine you should be safe.

Kara SuLema: Thank you, <Character>. This means more to me than you can imagine.

    Kara SuLema: Thank you.
Kara SuLema: And thank you, DragonLords.
Kara SuLema: As prepared as I was to flee, I am glad we can still call Sulen'Eska home.

Kara SuLema: Of course. You and your people are always welcome in Sulen'Eska.

Kara SuLema: Farewell, Bajacu'. May the wind carry you to safety.

    Kara SuLema: Niki.

Kara SuLema: I suppose you two are off to Swordhaven then.
Kara SuLema: Just follow the road west out of the swamp, past the checkpoint. I suggest not antagonizing any Rose soldiers along the way, if you can help it.

Kara SuLema: I appreciate your concern, but I will be fine.
Kara SuLema: I have faith that peace will one day soon return to Greenguard.

Kara SuLema: Then I implore you to speak to King Alteon. The royal family and the nobles support The Rose.
Kara SuLema: But if that connection can be squeezed or even severed, their influence will diminish greatly.
Kara SuLema: Better to fight with words than lives.

Kara SuLema: Take care, <Character>, <Dragon>.
Kara SuLema: And feel free to return and stop by whenever you want.

    Sulen'Eska
    (after A Day for Farewells)

As original options and quests, but with new dialogue when approaching her:
Kara SuLema: Thank you for visiting, <Character>. If you'd like, we can reminisce on your journey with the Vind. Or do you need a refresher on your next goal?
Kara SuLema: Head west to Swordhaven, past the checkpoint. If you can't find a way to get through to Jaania, perhaps try King Alteon.

    Mission Possible

Kara SuLema: These are the floor plans to Espina Rosa, <Character>.
Kara SuLema: Acquiring them was a particularly lengthy task, but I was able to get in to get them and get out undetected.
Kara SuLema: They outline the quarters of the Ruined Fortress.

    Kara SuLema: Precisely.
Kara SuLema: A mage and ally of ours was captured by the Rose years ago and imprisoned there.
Kara SuLema: A potentially valuable asset to the Vind and another thorn in the side of the Rose if freed.
Kara SuLema: Melissa's contingents have done much for us in terms of learning about the prison.
Kara SuLema: After her last foray, with you, I know now more then ever, we must strike soon.

Kara SuLema: Unfortunately, as much fun as that could be, it is not a feasible option.

Kara SuLema: Espina Rosa also doubles up as a Rose garrison; a horde of Rose Soldiers is stationed there.
Kara SuLema: There are no ferries to the island the prison is on.
Kara SuLema: They have portals outside the fortress that lead to the Rose's main headquarters in the capital city.
Kara SuLema: It is how they get their supplies and it is the only way to get there, at least, the only way to get there without arousing suspicion.
Kara SuLema: If Espina Rosa is attacked and word gets out, reinforcements will arrive in no time at all.

    Kara SuLema: Remember these?

    Kara SuLema: So they are.
Kara SuLema: When Espina Rosa was built, it was with the same principle as these in mind: to bind and control those close to magic.
Kara SuLema: As a consequence, it is made entirely out of this material.

Kara SuLema: The fortress itself is covered with the sigils you see here, both inside and outside. Hence its name: the "Runed Fortress".
Kara SuLema: Magic cannot be done, nor can it penetrate, within its quarters.
Kara SuLema: They also scan everyone that enters for magic and facial recognition at the portal.

Kara SuLema: Simple: You will infiltrate.

Kara SuLema: Normally, you would be correct.
    Kara SuLema: Svera?

Kara SuLema: Please bring Edd in.

Kara SuLema: <Character>, this is Edd. A Rose Soldier of Espina Rosa.

Kara SuLema: Edd recently transferred to Espina Rosa and within his first days there, he was put on temporary leave for food poisoning causing amnesia.

Kara SuLema: No one at Espina Rosa really knows Edd due to his leave so soon after his deployment. He's not expected to remember anything.
Kara SuLema: And, to be honest, I don't think they expect him to be himself after all this.

Kara SuLema: Correct. As for your face, here.

Kara SuLema: It is a species of carnivorous plant unique to Betrubung Swamp. The Face Nommer.
Kara SuLema: In order to attract unsuspecting creatures, a special membrane inside its mouth imprints a copy of the face of its last victim...
Kara SuLema: ... and a second, bulbous head reproduces a flexible, but authentic clone.
Kara SuLema: The Vind has found that the face can be place on the head...
Kara SuLema: ... and act as an effective, non-magical mask as the plant makes it through its own natural secretions.
Kara SuLema: <Character>, I would like you to find this plant in the Swamp, bring it here so we can make a mask of Edd's face for you to use...
Kara SuLema: ... and infiltrate Espina Rosa. I would trust no one else for this mission and this is not a chance I intend to let slide.

Kara SuLema: Good. If you can take care of the plant, I will take care of the rest of the preparations.

    InspecZion

    Kara SuLema: Hmm....

    Kara SuLema: As I thought.

Kara SuLema: I believe, <Character>, that you are good to go. Althouh the mask's skin texture is a bit pale, its every feature looks like a perfect mimic of Edd's.

Kara SuLema: Positive. It will work.
Kara SuLema: We don't have time to find another Face Nommer and make another face either way. We have to take the chance.
Kara SuLema: Are you ready for your final briefing?

    Kara SuLema: Follow me then.

Kara SuLema: Since the portal to Espina Rosa is near the Rose's Headquarters, you will first need to journey to Swordhaven.
Kara SuLema: Journey alone; we cannot risk you being seen with anyone else.
Kara SuLema (thinking): Their laughter will give you away.
Kara SuLema: It will be easier for you to move around than I when I journeyed alone.
Kara SuLema: In Swordhaven, your task is simple: Find the portal area and pass inspection.
Kara SuLema: Getting into Espina Rosa will be simpler after that. Just go through the portal to the island and the guards should open the doors for you there.
Kara SuLema: Once inside Espina Rosa, move quickly. Svera?

Kara SuLema: And below the latter is the Third Level. This last level is where our friend remains and where you need to go.

Kara SuLema: Unfortunately, we do not.
Kara SuLema: The Third Level is where Espina Rosa keeps its prisoners that it considers to be its most dangerous. Despite all our information gathering...
Kara SuLema: ... We know nothing else of the Third Level. You will have to take care of that on your own.

Kara SuLema: Here are Edd's papers, and some more information on your target.

Kara SuLema: Even with these plans, we could not find one. So we made one ourselves.
Kara SuLema: Here. Just next to the entry to the Third Level is the Cooks' Kitchen. Inside the kitchen, there is a hole in the floor for kitchen waste.
Kara SuLema: This hole opens up onto an underground water way that eventually end up into the sea surrounding the island.
Kara SuLema: Although normally too small to be of any use, the tireless and risky effort of our gnomish allies has expanded it enough...
Kara SuLema: ... to let a Gnomish submersible through.

Kara SuLema: That is all I have, <Character>, the rest is up to you. Good luck.

    Kara SuLema: Oh and <Character>?

Kara SuLema: Whatever happens, see to it that you return safe and sound.

Kara SuLema: Of course I do. I just... that mask, Svera...

    On Broken Wings

Kara SuLema: I know. I am sorry. Svera knew where I was, but I also knew she wouldn't say anything definite.
Kara SuLema: It was out of my concern for you that I didn't tell you all where I was going.

Kara SuLema: Mritha, I know. But, as leader, I must be willing to do whatever it takes to get us to the next step.
Kara SuLema: And if something were to ever happen to me, Svera knows how things run; my expectations, my goals.
Kara SuLema: And both of you are fully capable of helping out.

Kara SuLema: As much as I can, Mritha.
Kara SuLema: Now, Svera, what do you have?

Kara SuLema: Then that is where I need to be.

Kara SuLema: No, I am sorry Mritha, Melissa, but this is what I have to do. I need to know what their next move is.

Kara SuLema: *sigh* Being a leader making sacrifices that sometimes aren't... well, ideal.
Kara SuLema: It's a lesson that I've learned many times in my lifetime - both as a student and as a leader.
Kara SuLema: I've failed in the past because I wasn't willing to make such a sacrifice. I will not let history repeat itself.
Kara SuLema: Mritha, please request that Odgne tell the other dragons that there is a potential raid or move against them coming.
Kara SuLema: Your group needs to have their eyes open and watching for anything at all strange.

Kara SuLema: I expected nothing less.
Kara SuLema: Melissa? Please make sure that you are ready to guide any and all races that are interested in moving once we have the opportunity.

Kara SuLema: It's what a leader must do. Now, I must go. Please, please, my friends, just do as I ask and do not worry.

Kara SuLema: So, it is as the reports say. Dragons and riders everywhere. I need to find Senthris, for where she is, Saellah is.

Kara SuLema: Ah, there is the beautiful Senthris. Shame she is on the wrong side. Where Senthris is, Saellah is.

    Kara SuLema: Time to go...

    Kara SuLema: Ugh...

    An Uncertain Future

Kara SuLema: H-has Leon been thanked? I have not seen him, though I was told he.. he is responsible for getting me home.

Kara SuLema: Good. If we are not constantly learning, then our q.. quest is not perfect.

Kara SuLema: I have learned much as well. M-my heart is divided.

Kara SuLema: Yes. I learned that humans can be unbelievable cruel, heartless and empty.
Kara SuLema: I learned that... that the Rose isn't what we think it is.
Kara SuLema: And, I spoke to Jaania the one day Akanthus was absent.

Kara SuLema: How did you know, Bacaju'?

Kara SuLema: I think... I think something is wrong, even in the Rose camp. Jaania is not what I thought she was.
Kara SuLema: We spent all day talking. What she had to say is not what we have been led to believe.

Kara SuLema: No. I know there is good out there. Good people with magic. Good people who use it for good.
Kara SuLema: Yes, there are bad, but Jaania, the good always outweighs the bad.

Kara SuLema: You've seen it destroy your best friends. You've seen it freeze you. You've seen it terrorise. I know.
Kara SuLema: But, can't you think of anything good? Anything... wonderful?

Kara SuLema: When you studied in Swordhaven, did you not have teachers who showed you wonder, grace, and beauty of magic?

Kara SuLema: You were once the hope of all teachers. I know the stories. They are told in the quiet places when people wish to remember better times.
Kara SuLema: you were so natural, so graceful, so perfect. You were the shining example.

Kara SuLema: I am taking this seriously. You want to take from me something I treasure, love and enjoy.
Kara SuLema: You want to take from me my power to help and hold. I don't want to lose this.

Kara SuLema: What do you mean?

Kara SuLema: Is it really your place to make that decision though? You, alone, are making a decision that affects everyone on Lore.
Kara SuLema: Not just you and me, but Dragons, Dravir, Clawkin, Fairies, Pixies... Have you asked what they thought?

    Kara SuLema: Oh, I see.
Kara SuLema: So, the magical, thinking, sentient, emotional beings like Clawkin or Dravir or Dragon, in shackles, is that what is good for them?
Kara SuLema: They are slaves to the Rose, sent out to do their bidding, and being SLAUGHTERED the whole time!
Kara SuLema: They are shells of who they are and slaves. Was slavery a part of your magical cleansing?

    Kara SuLema: Jaania?

Kara SuLema: Ridding a world built on magic of magic is not the way to go. I will not give up my magic. You will have to kill me, Jaania.

Kara SuLema: No, and neither will my kin, and all other magic wielders who only want the best for the world around them.

Kara SuLema: Jaania, please don't do this. Don't... leave me here. Let me go. Let me prove to you that magic is good, kind, wonderful, beautiful.

Kara SuLema: You can always visit me, even if I was free.

Kara SuLema: I've been taken from Akanthus. If Jaania gave the order, he did not follow it.

Kara SuLema: If she asks, I will go. I need her to know she can trust me, magic and all.

Kara SuLema: Yes, if she asks for me one day, I will go to her. No matter what.

    Escape from Espina Rosa

Kara SuLema: Here are Edd's papers, and some more information on your target.

    Kara SuLema: <Character>! Welcome back!
Kara SuLema: It has been far too long. We got word from a scout, Falwynn, that you've been quite busy in Swordhaven!
Kara SuLema: Have you learned anything? Were you able to speak to Jaania?

    Kara SuLema: I... I see.
Kara SuLema: How are you... feeling? You know I'm always here to listen if you need it.

Kara SuLema: There have still been a few border skirmishes, but Akanthus, and the main force, seems to be focused elsewhere...

Kara SuLema: ...Perhaps. But there's no use speculating until we get more information.
Kara SuLema: Speaking of which... How did your meeting with Jaania go?

    Kara SuLema: ...
Kara SuLema: I suppose... I always had my suspicions. Your news truly saddens me. Yet I...
Kara SuLema: I... I used to know Jaania, before. Has anyone told you that?

    Kara SuLema: I see...
    Kara SuLema: <Character>, she's...

    Kara SuLema: Misguided.

Kara SuLema: What she's doing is wrong, yes, and we must protect those we can from her plans.
Kara SuLema: That's what the Vind is for. What we're here for. We must not stoop to the levels of Akanthus and those that serve him.
Kara SuLema: We cannot repeat the mistakes of the past. There must be always be a measure of compassion.

Kara SuLema: *sigh* I know, <Character>. And we won't.
Kara SuLema: Ah, but that aside, what's this I hear about you attending a royal gala soon? I didn't realize heroes had so much free time!

Kara SuLema: Indeed! Falwynn muttered something about that before hurriedly packing her things and leaving. I hope she's doing well...
Kara SuLema: But this is a wonderful opportunity!

Kara SuLema: When is it happening?

Kara SuLema: Then we have absolutely no time to waste!
    Kara SuLema: Svera!

Kara SuLema: Please, take <Character>'s measurements!

    Kara SuLema: Of course!
Kara SuLema: You simply cannot appear in what you are wearing right now— Especially at a Royal Gala!

Kara SuLema: Everything... The Gala will be a delicately scripted event, where diplomacy and court etiquette are paramount.
Kara SuLema: But an audience with the king himself... Oh <Character>, this is something I would never be allowed to do... not with the Rose present.
Kara SuLema: I need to prepare an extended list of questions you absolutely must ask him!

Kara SuLema: You will have the King's ear at your disposition, <Character>. He has the power to do something about the Rose.
Kara SuLema: And even if it doesn't work out, you will at least plant the seeds of doubt in his mind.
Kara SuLema: Which may grow into a tree of distrust.

Kara SuLema: It's just an idiom, <Character>. Distrust for the Rose. The king will make a powerful ally, who can help us without the use of violence.
Kara SuLema: And if that fails, then as a last resort...

Kara SuLema: Let's get to work then!

Kara SuLema: Why would something go wrong?

Kara SuLema: I can do magic, <Character>, but... I can't make magical clothes.
Kara SuLema: And I don't know anyone who is able to conceal your <Class> gear under an evening gown.
Kara SuLema: I suppose we could try some illusions... but The Rose may not take too kindly to that...

Kara SuLema: Across the sea? We can travel swiftly by wind, if you'd like. Come now, we have no time to waste!

Kara SuLema: It's... been a while for me, too. I... knew of this land, but... these winds...
Kara SuLema: They are so full of magic, and yet... so hostile.
Kara SuLema: There is a burden in them so heavy... they can't bear it.
Kara SuLema: It's... it's so sad.

Kara SuLema: I will be fine, <Character>... Let's be on our way before we attract any attention.

Kara SuLema: Pleased to meet you, Headmaster.

    Kara SuLema: What's wrong?

Kara SuLema: I'm.. not sure what happened between you two, but I'm glad you're able to move past it.

Kara SuLema: Indeed. I am Kara SuLema of the wind elf kin.

Kara SuLema: Are elves... scarce here?

Kara SuLema: <Character> is in grave need of clothes that are fit for a royal event. I have her/his measurements already with me.

Kara SuLema: My deepest thanks, Danyel. It was a pleasure to meet such a talented friend of <Character>'s!

    The Gala

Kara SuLema: I am sorry, <Character>. <Dragon> can't come with you.

Kara SuLema: Why are you so surprised?
Kara SuLema: <Dragon> could never come with you! It's simply too risky!
Kara SuLema: I know you somehow managed to smuggle them into the city last time, but this is a different matter entirely.
Kara SuLema: You can't just show up to the royal gala with your dragon in tow. Security will be provided by The Rose, and they will not be accommodating.

Kara SuLema: What did <Dragon> say?

Kara SuLema: I'm so sorry for this <Character>. I know you two are close...
Kara SuLema: But <Dragon> simply can't go with you this time.

Kara SuLema: Someone else will be accompanying you, however. Just in case something goes wrong.

    Kara SuLema: Melissa.

    Kara SuLema: Precisely.

Kara SuLema: As royalty, once disguised, she'll be able to blend in with the crowd. It took some arguing, but she's already on her way to Swordhaven.
Kara SuLema: She will aid you in case there's any trouble.

Kara SuLema: I know this isn't how you envisioned it, but it will have to do.

    Kara SuLema: Ah!
Kara SuLema: Your friend Danyel's SoulAlly, Baltael, was here earlier!
Kara SuLema: He dropped off the outfits and, I must say, they look absolutely dashing!
Kara SuLema: The fabric is beautiful! It's so pleasant to touch, and so... fragile, yet durable! I don't know how else to describe it

    Kara SuLema: Well?

Kara SuLema: Try it on, of course!

    Kara SuLema: Oh, <Character>!
Kara SuLema: You look absolutely marvelous!
Kara SuLema: With such a magnificent outfit, you're sure to capture everyone's attention!

Kara SuLema: Of course. Now, remember, while talking to the king, please try to mind your manners. Try to keep calm.
Kara SuLema: The high-born nobles of Swordhaven are sheltered and fed lies about magic by The Rose. They must hear reason.

Kara SuLema: Then your words must be more forceful. The nobles benefit greatly from their arrangements with The Rose.
Kara SuLema: They lie to themselves that it's for the protection of Greenguard, rather than profit. If you must shatter that lie, do it.
Kara SuLema: This... will be as treacherous an environment as any battlefield, <Character>.

Kara SuLema: But, please, try to have a nice time! Enjoy yourself, if you can find the time and space. You... you deserve it.

Kara SuLema: May the winds guide you, <Character>. Good luck!

    Queen of Swordhaven

Kara SuLema: ...Good. Thank you kindly for your report.
    Kara SuLema (briefly): If we—

Kara SuLema: Ah, Niki! So, you've returned.
Kara SuLema: How is the situation with the Clawkin? How are they faring outside of the swamp?

Kara SuLema: But that's... Fury territory!

Kara SuLema: Niki... you should have come to me first. Without prior diplomacy, the Furies may not be accepting of clawkin refugees in their jungles.

Kara SuLema: It was Bajacu's decision, you say? She is wise... and... it... it is not my responsibility to decide what is best for the clawkin, after all.
Kara SuLema: ...You mentioned the new Haven, Niki? Mritha, do you have a report on its status?

Kara SuLema: Fairglade... I believe that is a good location for it. Mritha, please make sure that we have an ambassador in that new Haven camp.

Kara SuLema: Now, I'm sure you must be exhausted, Niki. Please, feel free to—

Kara SuLema: What is the matter, Svera?

Kara SuLema: ...The King?! What— Prepare the medical tent, now!

    Kara SuLema: ...

Kara SuLema: I... wouldn't ever have anticipated things going this way, though.
Kara SuLema: Svera, do we have any information about this Magesterium?

Kara SuLema: I shall have to consult the wind...
Kara SuLema: But right now, we need to focus on more immediate matters.
Kara SuLema: Which are the King's health, well-being, and his adjustment to these... new surroundings he will find once he wakes up.
Kara SuLema: Don't think I'm not grateful, <Character>... but it was very risky bringing the King here.

Kara SuLema: Please, I am not blaming anyone! It's... it's absolutely fine.

Kara SuLema: What's done is done... there's no point on dwelling on it. Now, we must make sure the King is given all the care that he needs.
Kara SuLema: Svera, please bring Elanee here. We will have need of her healing expertise.

    Jungle's Fury

Kara SuLema: Elanee's magic truly works wonders. The King's health has been stabilized and, with time, he should make a full recovery.

    Kara SuLema: ...

Kara SuLema: Besides the potential impending political disaster, and the entrance of this "Magesterium" to the stage of conflict?

Kara SuLema: You know her well? I suppose she will be ruling Swordhaven in her father's stead for the time being...

Kara SuLema: About that... Apparently, they rule the Shapeless Empire, on the western continent of Azaveyr.
Kara SuLema: They are usually rather reclusive, it seems, although there have been a number of refugees who have made the journey across the sea.

Kara SuLema: I... had a different idea in mind. I wish to be present when King Alteon awakes, as I am sure he will have many questions best answered by myself.
Kara SuLema: Instead, perhaps you could make the journey to Azaveyr and seek out the Magesterium on your own.
Kara SuLema: If there is to be conflict between the Magesterium and The Rose, Greenguard is sure to be dragged into it, us included.
Kara SuLema: I need you to learn all you can about the Magesterium. We need to know where they stand in all this.
Kara SuLema: Even without the King's support at the moment, The Rose is still powerful. While I disapprove of the Magesterium's methods so far, they might just...

Kara SuLema: Oh, <Character>. Thank you.

Kara SuLema: Oh my! Gliding Snowflake, what are you doing here? I apologize for the lack of welcome, my hands have been quite full.

Kara SuLema: The Rose!? How is that possible? And so soon after the incidents of the Gala too...
Kara SuLema: Isn't your jungle protected by illusions? I know you've all been careful not to make too many excursions... Unless...
    Kara SuLema: Oh no!
Kara SuLema: Oh no no no!
    Kara SuLema: The Clawkin!

Kara SuLema: The Rose must have followed Niki and the Clawkin!
    Kara SuLema: <Character>!

Kara SuLema: It's alright, you can trust <him/her/them>. <He/She/They> will protect you and your tribe, like <he has/she has/they have> so many others before.

    Culture Shock

    Kara SuLema: *gasp*
    Kara SuLema: Your Majesty!
Kara SuLema: Svera, please inform Elanee that the King has awoken!

Kara SuLema: My name is Kara. I am a Wind Elf. You were gravely injured and brought here— to our camp.
Kara SuLema: Please rest assured, you are in no danger! We mean you no harm.

Kara SuLema: I assure you, everything is fine. How are you feeling, your Majesty?

Kara SuLema: Can you stand? Please, I have much to tell you.

Kara SuLema: All of us have much to tell you.

Kara SuLema: I know, my King. It's a lot to take in.

Kara SuLema: Rebels can be a burdened word.
Kara SuLema: I'd like to think we're simply the ones who walk on the right path. But then so thinks every creature that walks and breathes the wind.
    Kara SuLema: No.
Kara SuLema: You Majesty! We fight for those who have the right to exist in this world!
Kara SuLema: We desire more than anything to live in a world where magical and non-magical beings all have the right to both live and prosper.
Kara SuLema: If Jaania's vision of a world without magic were to come to fruition...
Kara SuLema: All the peace and harmony you see here between magical and non-magical, human and non-human would be lost.

Kara SuLema: Your Majesty, what Jaania is doing is wrong. You've heard our stories. Seen the evidence. Every one of us could tell you more, should you wish.

Kara SuLema: Oh... A-as you wish.

    Kara SuLema: Certainly.

    Heroes

    Kara SuLema: Your Majesty?

    Kara SuLema: A—Alden...
Kara SuLema: How are you faring?

Kara SuLema: Your Ma— Alden, I don't believe that she manipulated you, she's just—

    Kara SuLema: She is.

    Kara SuLema: As is she.
Kara SuLema: It is as I've told you before. While I really do believe that what she is doing— what her organization is doing, is wrong... very wrong...
Kara SuLema: ... she is not a bad person, Alden. Just... broken.
Kara SuLema: She needs help. She needs to open her eyes to the suffering she has caused as a result of her obsession.
Kara SuLema: As a result of her own trauma, she believes that magic can only lead to destruction. And that only she can stop it. That only she can save the world.
Kara SuLema: But you've seen it now. You've heard our stories. You've felt the consequences of her actions.
Kara SuLema: This is not salvation.

Kara SuLema: My King! I... I didn't know you could...

    A Petal Falls

Kara SuLema: Your news about the Magesterium disturbs me, <Character>.

Kara SuLema: This must mean their plans may involve hostility towards us, as well as the Rose, and also that it could be stopped, should you inform us of it.
Kara SuLema: Mritha, send out the scouts. Whatever the Magesterium is doing, it's likely going to be big.
Kara SuLema: We'll need eyes everywhere if we want to respond in time to whatever the Magesterium is planning.

Kara SuLema: Now, I hate to bring this up, but if whatever happens is part of the Magesterium's plan to deal with the Rose, maybe we shouldn't—

Kara SuLema: The dragonriders surely haven't returned so soon?

Kara SuLema: Is is the Rose again? Has their siege broken through?

Kara SuLema: Well, what is it?

Kara SuLema: And what of the Rose? Why would a Magus of the Rose come to us for aid?
Kara SuLema: Are they unable to protect their own?

    Kara SuLema: I see.

Kara SuLema: Then this could very well be a trap.

Kara SuLema: Alden, what do you advise in this situation?

    Kara SuLema: I understand.
Kara SuLema: We cannot afford to rush headlong into an unknown situation, however.

Kara SuLema: That sounds like the safest plan.
Kara SuLema: Alden, what will you do? You may remain here as long as you wish, but...

Kara SuLema: Very well. <Character>, go ahead and meet with this Magus Hansa. We must prepare to journey to Atrea.

    Arrival of the Vind

Kara SuLema: It appears we arrived just in time. Please accept my apologies for the delay. The Rose is on high alert after the Duat incident.

Kara SuLema: So we've heard. What's the situation here? Who is in charge?

Kara SuLema: That is correct. It is a pleasure to meet you, Lady Alz'ein.
Kara SuLema: I am Kara SuLema. We— that is our resistance— have come to aid you however we may.
Kara SuLema: In these tumultuous times, we can all use all the allies we can find.

Kara SuLema: It was our pleasure. We hope to join the battle directly once we get situated.

Kara SuLema: You ask for much faith when we have only just met, but we will do our best to comply.

Kara SuLema: There is nothing to forgive. The fate of your people rests on the line.
Kara SuLema: We came here to be at your disposal.
Kara SuLema: I only ask that should we require your assistance in the future, against the Rose, the Magesterium, or otherwise...
Kara SuLema: ... that we may count on your help as well.

Kara SuLema: Then we are in agreement. Lead us, Lady Alz'ein.

Kara SuLema: It shall be done.

    Kara SuLema: Understood.

    Song in Our Hearts

Kara SuLema: <Character>, Mritha and the DragonLords are keeping the creature occupied, you should be able to get close!

Kara SuLema: Was that it? Is the—

    Kara SuLema: I don't—

Kara SuLema: I hope everything is okay.

Kara SuLema: Thank you, Lady Alz'ein, Lady Isiri. The Vind greatly appreciates your promise.

    Kara SuLema: Indeed. Come, <Character>.
Kara SuLema: When you have time, we must plan our next move against the Rose, and prepare for any more possible Magesterium attacks.

    Out of Control

Kara SuLema: <Character>! Thank you for coming. I have a new assignment for you.

Kara SuLema: Unfortunately, yes. Our scouts report that another Magesterium rift has opened near Doomwood, a ways away from Amityvale.

Kara SuLema: I'm well aware of the direness of the situation, <Character>.
Kara SuLema: However, with our scouts scouring Greenguard, we've caught onto this much earlier than the Sandsea rift.
Kara SuLema: Your presence may help curtail any immediate threats.
Kara SuLema: It's possible that if we act quickly enough, we can slow down the enemy forces before they build up.

Kara SuLema: <Character>, if you can somehow secure an alliance with the Rose members there for the defense of Amityvale, we will join you shortly.
Kara SuLema: If not, I still believe that it is undeniable that your presence there will be of great value, should this escalate further.
Kara SuLema: Our scouts will continue to keep an eye out for any Magesterium or abnormal Rose activity, and we will keep you informed.

    The Golden Hand

Kara SuLema: Our own scouts have been tracking the situation.
Kara SuLema: Unfortunately, we may need to reinforce the northern fronts, as they are the farthest from Swordhaven and Rose resources—

Kara SuLema: Mine is the same.

    Kara SuLema: I'm going.

Kara SuLema: No. If Jaania is there, then I'll have the opportunity to talk to her. I'll have protection too, once we arrive.
Kara SuLema: My safety is not of concern.

Kara SuLema: <Character> and my bodyguard will accompany me.

Kara SuLema: Thank you for your concern, Neron. I will have to attend to them before we leave.

Kara SuLema: I apologize, <Character>, but it seems that once more you must travel alone. The Vind must have their orders before I can leave.

Kara SuLema: Don't worry. We shall be one step behind you.

Kara SuLema: The pleasure is all mine, Your Majesty.
Kara SuLema: Jaania has told you true. I am the leader of the Vind.

Kara SuLema: The Vind would like to be agreeable to this, but our people are still persecuted by the Rose.

Kara SuLema: As well as predjudices and assumptions.

Kara SuLema: While we cared for his wounds for some time, he has since recovered and left of his own accord.
Kara SuLema: He mentioned that he had some personal business to attend to. It was not my place to pry into the affairs of the king.

Kara SuLema: He was. He made it clear that he was proud of you and had full confidence in your abilities.

Kara SuLema: Perhaps we could try. It will not be easy.

Kara SuLema: Jaania, if I may have a word—

    Kara SuLema: But—

Kara SuLema: Her research? What are you planning, Jaania?

Kara SuLema: Would these rifts remain closed, afterward?

    Kara SuLema: Understood.

The Greenguard Alliance - Choose a Faction

Kara SuLema: <Character>, Queen Victoria has tasked the Vind with the defense of the front lines. It will be... difficult.

  • Learn More
Kara SuLema: The Vind and our allies will be the first line of defense against the rift elementals. It is a dangerous assignment.
Kara SuLema: The Atealans may still be recovering, but they have sent as many soldiers as they can spare to aid us as well.
Kara SuLema: We must hold off as many of the invaders as possible to give the Rose and the Golden Hand time. It is not an enviable task.
Kara SuLema: However, with your assistance, I am certain a lot of us would feel much more at ease.
    Kara SuLema: ...
Kara SuLema: My apologies, <Character>, I... have a lot on my mind.
Kara SuLema: Please, consider lending us your strength.

The Greenguard Alliance - Vind Faction

Kara SuLema: Thank you for helping us, <Character>. With you at our side, we'll be able to stop the majority of the invading forces!

  • Swordhaven Camp

    Kara SuLema: Hm?

Kara SuLema: Oh, sorry, <Character>, I didn't notice you there.
Kara SuLema: I've just been so worried about Jaania. I don't...
    Kara SuLema: I...

Kara SuLema: I don't think I ever told you how the Vind came to be, have I?

Kara SuLema: No. You were simply thrust into the heart of our conflict against the Rose with little to no explanation as to who we were.
Kara SuLema: And for that I apologize.

Kara SuLema: That's heartening to hear, <Character>. While we have some time, would you care to listen to our story?

Kara SuLema: After you were frozen... Jaania was distraught.
Kara SuLema: She had been locked away, helpless, watching, but unable to act, for so long, and now that she was free, she was going to make a difference.
Kara SuLema: For a time, she traveled Greenguard, doing good deeds, trying to mend the damage done by countless generations of war.
Kara SuLema: But it was not enough.
Kara SuLema: Always, always there was more suffering, more pain for her to encounter.

Kara SuLema: Perhaps. But it seems that she was always wary of you.
Kara SuLema: It is undeniable that multiple Lore-changing events have revolved around you and <Dragon>.
Kara SuLema: Perhaps she thought that keeping you out of the way would have curtailed any malicious forces.

Kara SuLema: That's just my own guess. And to many, it made sense.
Kara SuLema: Here was Greenguard, recovering in a time of peace, and at the helm of this peace was Jaania.
Kara SuLema: But the peace was not to last.
Kara SuLema: My apologies, <Character>, but maybe we should continue this later. Swordhaven isn't going to defend itself, after all.

Kara SuLema: Another time, <Character>. Another time.

    Daybreak (Vind)

    Kara SuLema: ...

Kara SuLema: We have to find a way to stop this new threat, but our resources are lacking.
Kara SuLema: We must coordinate with The Rose.

Kara SuLema: Dear Alz'ein, unfortunately, many of the Vind are not so quick to accept the realities of our situation.
Kara SuLema: Most of the Vind have been personally slighted or worse by members of The Rose.
Kara SuLema: With the separation of duties in the protection of the city, we've managed to avoid much conflict.
Kara SuLema: But to take this new threat down will require working much more closely with The Rose.

Kara SuLema: But if Jaania is there—

Kara SuLema: Very well. I'll talk to our... our family. This is going to be difficult for them.

Kara SuLema: It must. I believe we can put aside our enmity, if only to save the world.

    The Spells We Weave

Kara SuLema: From comparisons of physiology to creatures existing on Lore, we've determined that this Tytan is likely peaceful by nature.

    Kara SuLema: A good point.
Kara SuLema: As such, if we are able to threaten it in such a way that brings it great discomfort–

Kara SuLema: That is our hope, yes, Your Majesty.

Kara SuLema: That is where <Character> comes in.

Kara SuLema: Don't worry, we have a solution for that!

Kara SuLema: We'll be able to develop a spell to protect <Character>!

    Sunfall: Part 1

Kara SuLema: With the aid of The Rose, we've managed to secure an area outside Swordhaven.
Kara SuLema: The Dragonriders are ready and waiting.

    Kara SuLema: ...

    Kara SuLema: ...

    Kara SuLema: Oh! My apologies.
Kara SuLema: Yes. With the sample provided by <Character>, we have the spell ready to cast.
Kara SuLema: You and <Dragon> will be prepared and protected before you head off.
    • Catapult
Kara SuLema: That should do it.

    • Dragon (DA Required)
Kara SuLema: That should cover both of you.
    Sunfall: Part 2

    Kara SuLema: Well done, <Character>!

Kara SuLema: DragonLord Mritha has been heading the Vind forces there.

Kara SuLema: Thankfully there has been no sign of a Tytan yet, at least.

Kara SuLema: Our scouts have narrowed one focus down to some ancient ruins deep within Doomwood.
Kara SuLema: It will not be easy to secure.

Kara SuLema: Niki has led our scouts there, and they've reported many strange fungal growths sprouting from the snow and ice.
Kara SuLema: Whatever is happening, it's certainly less overt than what has happened to Swordhaven and Amityvale.

Kara SuLema: It's the strangest thing. We haven't noticed any unusual activity besides a few stray elementals.

    Kara SuLema: ...

Kara SuLema: I know how much you must be struggling. You can talk to me, Jaania.

The Royal Resistance - Vind Faction

Kara SuLema: You needn't worry about me, <Character>. My mind is at ease. Let's save Doomwood!

  • Doomwood Camp

The Royal Resistance - Vind Faction
    (before Ambition's Crossroads)

Kara SuLema: I'm well, thank you for asking, <Character>.
Kara SuLema: Jaania is doing better now too, from what I can tell.
Kara SuLema: I only hope that she takes our conversations to heart.

Kara SuLema: She is, no, was a dear friend in the past.
Kara SuLema: At least, that's how I thought of her.
Kara SuLema: It pains me to see her so conflicted and lost now.

Kara SuLema: Yes. It has everything to do with that time.
Kara SuLema: I'm sure you've heard whispers of the one known as Yalla?
Kara SuLema: She was an ancient Arch-Druid who awoke some time after you were frozen.
Kara SuLema: And she was a wind elf. An ancient, powerful, and furious elf, who had woken to find her groves and people scattered to the winds of time.
Kara SuLema: As such a legendary ancestor, she had a... connection to those of us who had hid away from the rest of Lore.
Kara SuLema: And in her fury, she called upon the wind elves, summoning us and the creatures of the land to her aid, to enact her vengeance.

Kara SuLema: We were not forced, no. We always had a choice. But when such a revered being returned and called out...
Kara SuLema: Many answered who yearned for power, or glory, or favor in the new world to come.
Kara SuLema: Families were torn, as those of us who remained could only wait as our brethren left, never to return.

Kara SuLema: Jaania and her budding Rose wiped out the invasion.
Kara SuLema: With Jaania's power unleashed, none could stand in her path.

Kara SuLema: Many did and still do. But I know she was acting in defense of her own.
    Kara SuLema: It was justified.

    Kara SuLema: But swift.
Kara SuLema: And then, in their zeal, Jaania and her army followed the remnants of the elves back to the Dreamwood, our homeland.
Kara SuLema: Where those of us who had no interest in war remained.
Kara SuLema: She began weaving terrible magic, to enact vengeance against us in retribution for those who had fallen under Yalla's influence.
Kara SuLema: We pleaded with her, sent gifts and goods, anything to delay our demise.
Kara SuLema: In our final attempt, I volunteered as envoy, and took with me a special gift.
Kara SuLema: A certain mirror that we hoped could show her the consequences of her actions.

Kara SuLema: Yes. And it saved us. And at the time, I could never have foreseen...
Kara SuLema: It was an old artifact, languishing in our vaults. From where it originated, we did not know.
Kara SuLema: But it was said that those who stared into it would see the outcomes of their desires.
Kara SuLema: Jaania accepted the gift, looked into the mirror, and ceased her attack on the Dreamwood.
Kara SuLema: Her transformation was miraculous.
Kara SuLema: She immediately began to send us aid to help rebuild, along with emissaries and messengers of her new organization, The Rose.
Kara SuLema: I was assigned to be an ambassador, to meet with Jaania and discuss how best to bring our people together.

Kara SuLema: Yes. We spent much time together, discussing plans for a peaceful Lore.

    Kara SuLema: All seemed well.
Kara SuLema: But such joy was not to last. The conflict could not be forgotten so easily, and as The Rose expanded, Jaania grew more distant...
Kara SuLema: My apologies, <Character>, but we must continue the tale another time. These are painful recollections.

Kara SuLema: Thank you. Let's focus on stopping this rift, then.

    A Storm in the Night

Kara SuLema: I have full confidence in Mritha's capabilities. She has already proven herself to be a talented commander without me.

Kara SuLema: You're... You're right, of course, Melissa. Thank you ever so much for your counsel.

Kara SuLema: No, you're not. Let us get back on topic.

    Kara SuLema: Right.
Kara SuLema: I'll round up some of our best, and we'll establish a base camp for the expedition into the ruins.
Kara SuLema: I would like to have some final words with Lady Jaania, if possible though.

Kara SuLema: As for my bodyguard, I believe–

Kara SuLema: He would wish to remain here, in Swordhaven, in your service, Queen Victoria, if you are amenable.

Kara SuLema: He was inspired by your leadership. Despite any misgivings you may have, you are a capable and strong leader, My Queen.
If you joined the Vind Faction:
Kara SuLema: <Character>, I must burden you once again to travel to Doomwood on your own.
Kara SuLema: I have a few final things to take care of before I leave.

      Kara SuLema: Thank you, <Character>.
Kara SuLema: There, that's much better now, isn't it?

Kara SuLema: It's been far too long since we've sat down for tea.

Kara SuLema: You know the mirror doesn't tell you what will happen.

    Kara SuLema: Only possibilities.

Kara SuLema: Everything in magic extrapolates from the small to large.
Kara SuLema: Every action we make has ripples.
    Kara SuLema: You know this.

Kara SuLema: Most everyone knows this, at some basic level.
Kara SuLema: But know also that I trust you. The Rose trusts you– the people of Swordhaven and Greenguard trust you.
Kara SuLema: You took on this burden of protector, and you've proven yourself before–

Kara SuLema: You did. And you learned from your mistake.

Kara SuLema: You needn't be afraid of yourself, for if you open yourself to those who would aid you, we will be there to help.
Kara SuLema: No one person can control the flow and consequences of magic.
Kara SuLema: Look not to the mirror, but to the counsel of those who would have you as a friend.

Kara SuLema: I am ever available should you require me!
Kara SuLema: In the meantime, I must make my way to where duty calls.

    A Shocking Discovery

Kara SuLema: Ostromir, we are not sacrificing a helpless individual to achieve our goals.

If you joined the Vind Faction:
Kara SuLema: Understood. Prince Eulin shall be our honored guest.

    Ambition's Crossroads

Kara SuLema: Mritha. Time is of the essence.

Kara SuLema: Grand Magus Hansa, Vseslava, <Character>. We must act fast.

Kara SuLema: Good. If our missing allies were captured, then they couldn't have gone too far yet.

    Kara SuLema: Let's go.

The Royal Resistance - Vind Faction
(after Ambition's Crossroads, before Grinding Gears)

Kara SuLema: Hello, <Character>. I want you to know we're doing all we can to find <Dragon> and the others.
Kara SuLema: If there's anything more I or the Vind can do to help, please, let me know.
Kara SuLema: But in the meantime, make sure you get your rest, okay?

Kara SuLema: The Vind, Swordhaven's knights that accompanied the Golden Hand, even The Rose- everyone is helping. Trust them to do their best.

    Kara SuLema: Oh, <Character>.
Kara SuLema: I know you're struggling, but you're no use to them worn out and run ragged.
Kara SuLema: I'll call you over when your shift comes up. And if we get any information- any at all- you'll be the first to know.

Kara SuLema: We'll find <Dragon> and the others. I promise.

    Grinding Gears

Kara SuLema: Wait, <Character>, someone is coming!

    Kara SuLema: No, it's–

Kara SuLema: Eulin, was this really all a ploy just to find the path through the ruins? This seems like a rather... complicated plan.

Kara SuLema: Then we must act with haste. If everyone is ready, Ostromir, please, lead the way.

The Royal Resistance - Vind Faction
    (after Grinding Gears)

Kara SuLema: Hello, <Character>. I assume you are referring to Prince Eulin's misjudged actions?

Kara SuLema: Perhaps. But to him, it was the only logical path to take. Such was his upbringing.
Kara SuLema: I can see that he strives to open his mind and learn, and so I am perhaps quicker to forgive his mistakes.
Kara SuLema: His actions do have their consequences, even internally, in his anxiety.
Kara SuLema: And of course, there must be limits to what can be tolerated. But he is trying to change not just himself, but his entire culture.
Kara SuLema: I can forgive some generous missteps for such a noble cause.

Kara SuLema: The ends justify some means, <Character>. And while mistakes are made and forgiven, they are not forgotten or dismissed.
Kara SuLema: They are still mistakes, to be revisited and learned from. Prince Eulin seems like a quick study, too.

Kara SuLema: And I don't demand you do so, either. Just... please consider this a moment to teach, rather than shun.

Kara SuLema: But the both of you will be better for it. Trust me.

    Direct Current

Kara SuLema: Grand Magus Hansa, do you sense anything?

    Kara SuLema: Hmm...

Kara SuLema: The wind agrees. There's a lot coming in from all sides.

    AdventureFriends! (Part 1)

    Day 2
Ms. Kara: Good morning, class! Before we get to today's lessons, I'd like to introduce our new transfer students from Atrea High!
    Ms. Kara: This is Alz'ein...

Ms. Kara: ...And this is Yashta.

Ms. Kara: I trust you'll give them both a hearty Aspenvale Academy welcome!

Ms. Kara: One final thing before we get to today's curriculum. I know yesterday's news about the QuestVenture funding was hard on all of you, but... but you have to stay positive!
Ms. Kara: And you still have to study hard, even while working on the fundraiser!

Ms. Kara: I mean it! The QuestVenture is just one quest among many you'll see in your lifetimes. You have your whole lives ahead of you!

Ms. Kara: Oh, to be a student again! I understand, I really do. But I also won't let you fail your exams! Which means extra homework!

    Day 3
Ms. Kara: ...And it looks like everyone is here! Good, good. For today's lesson, we'll be covering some advanced-

    Ms. Kara: Yes, Yashta?

Ms. Kara: Settle down. We've already taken attendance, and everyone who is supposed to be here is here. Now, please, we have a long lesson ahead of today...
If you select the 'Speak up' option:
Ms. Kara: Look, this disruption has gone on quite enough. We have a lot to cover today, and I don't know what kind of prank this is supposed to be, but everyone is here!
Ms. Kara: I understand how stressful this must be, but please, save the fun and games until after class. If this keeps up, I'll have to give you all detention, which means no QuestVenture for any of you! And I really don't want to do that.

Ms. Kara: Now, let's get started on reviewing some basic theories of magic. Who can name all the Avatars?

If you select the 'Say nothing' option:
Ms. Kara: It's okay. I know this is a stressful time of year, with both the QuestVenture and final exams coming up soon.
Ms. Kara: It can be a lot. But studying hard is important for your futures as adventureres and graduates of Aspenvale Academy!
Ms. Kara: Let's try reviewing some basic theories of magic then. Nothing too strenuous. Who can name all the Avatars?

    The Spark of the Soul

Kara SuLema: But with the number of ambushes and patrols we encountered along the way, I can't imagine they don't have some sort of base set up now.

Kara SuLema: Fighting against your own is a terrible tragedy. But the coming storm threatens all of the people of Doomwood. And beyond.
Kara SuLema: Your actions make you a true hero, Eulin.

Kara SuLema: Let's pack up and prepare for the assault then.

    Broken Circuit (Part 1)

Kara SuLema: Prince Lupin, your forces have all been recalled from the surface?

Kara SuLema: We'll be cheering you on, <Character>!

    Broken Circuit (Part 2)

    Kara SuLema: Hansa...

Kara SuLema: She's clearly still recovering–

    Kara SuLema: I–

Kara SuLema: It's okay. Take your time, Vseslava.

Kara SuLema: Then... the people of the Shapeless Empire...

Kara SuLema: I'm sorry, Eulin, but that isn't possible.
Kara SuLema: As long as the rift remains open, elemental magic will continue to flow through and affect the lives of the people who live here.
Kara SuLema: These ruins are considered sacred by the wandering tribes that were displaced by the Energy magic from the rift.
Kara SuLema: Keeping it open would be unfair for them, and all else who live in Doomwood.

Kara SuLema: What a splendid idea!

    Of Duty and Dragons

    Kara SuLema: Take care!

    Kara SuLema: *Cough*

Kara SuLema: Yes. Of course, we'll leave some behind to help with the rebuilding, if we are welcome.

Kara SuLema: Niki? Whatever is the- What are you doing here?
Kara SuLema: You were assigned to... Oh no. What's happened?

Kara SuLema: Take a deep breath, Niki. Slow down.

Kara SuLema: Is something on your mind, Grand Magus Hansa?

Kara SuLema: Niki, get some rest, I'm sure you're tired. I'll leave a trail for you to follow–

Kara SuLema: Niki, you'll be no use to anyone if you're exhausted and on the verge of collapse.
Kara SuLema: We'll send word when we arrive, and you can follow with reinforcements, okay?

Kara SuLema: And you as well.

    Kara SuLema: Well done, Mritha.

The Awakened Depths - Vind Faction

Kara SuLema: I was just looking for you, <Character>!

Kara SuLema: Nothing of the sort, thankfully. I was hoping I could share more of The Rose and the Vind's history.

    Kara SuLema: Wonderful!
Kara SuLema: I believe I left off with my appointment as ambassador to Greenguard, and my time spent with Jaania.

Kara SuLema: ...Yes. Unfortunately- ironically, maybe- we couldn't foresee how giving Jaania the Mirror would end up.
Kara SuLema: Even during that time, there was a resistance against her. Word had spread of Jaania's planned actions, and many were opposed.
Kara SuLema: And Jaania... She withdrew. Looked to the Mirror for guidance. Lost herself in it, and became obsessed.
Kara SuLema: She began making excuses to cut our time together short, or avoid meetings entirely.
Kara SuLema: I asked, of course, if she needed anything. Any help. But she always refused.
Kara SuLema: And then one day... she cut me off. No responses.

Kara SuLema: It was. But I knew that she was suffering too. Or at least, I thought so.
Kara SuLema: Shortly after my position as "Ambassador" was forgotten, so to speak, King Alteon announced Swordhaven's support of The Rose.
Kara SuLema: Jaania made fewer and fewer public appearances, while her generals and underlings took control.
Kara SuLema: It was around this time, as The Rose grew with Swordhaven's support, that the Sanctuary was formed.

Kara SuLema: Indeed. The Sanctuary formed in response to The Rose's anti-magic decree.
Kara SuLema: You've seen for yourself how mages and magical creatures have been treated under The Rose.
Kara SuLema: Many practitioners of magic joined together to oppose The Rose.
Kara SuLema: It would be a lie to say they had peaceful intentions.
Kara SuLema: Their very beings, their existences, were becoming outlawed. So they fought back.

Kara SuLema: They had a few successes. I paid them some visits, offered what support I could.
Kara SuLema: But then General Akanthus came knocking.

Kara SuLema: The Sanctuary wasn't exactly secret, as Sulen'Eska is. The Rose knew where to look.
Kara SuLema: And they brought their full power down upon it.
Kara SuLema: Many were lost or captured, and many fled.
Kara SuLema: But that was the end of that. I tried to seek an audience with Jaania...
Kara SuLema: ...but by then, were I to show up in Swordhaven, I'd be chained and thrown into Espina Rosa.
Kara SuLema: Falconreach remained, by blessing of King Alteon, but for how long, we couldn't say.
Kara SuLema: So I gathered what few survivors I could find...

Kara SuLema: Indeed, <Character>! We founded Sulen'Eska deep in Betrubung Swamp, and there we hid, trying to recollect ourselves... until one day...
Kara SuLema: A hero from the past showed up, dragon in tow, to change the course of history.

Kara SuLema: That we will, <Character>. That we will.

    Speaker and Slayer

Kara SuLema: We've only brought a token force as to not impose terribly much on your hospitality.
Kara SuLema: Both The Rose and the Vind are spread thin as Swordhaven and Doomwood recover.
Kara SuLema: However, if we are to reclaim Dragesvard, as well as reach and contain the Proclamation rift, we'll need more help.

Kara SuLema: I'm sorry, if I may interrupt... who or what exactly is "The Great One"?

Kara SuLema: I would very much like to meet this Great One.

Kara SuLema: If you don't mind me asking, how does one go from being a slayer of dragons to... well, a Speaker for a Great Dragon?

Kara SuLema: This is the same Great One that Captain Lestrad says is ordering the DragonLords to not interfere elsewhere?

    The Descent

Kara SuLema: Speaking of which, where are the other DragonSlayers? I don't recall seeing them inside Dragonsgrasp...

Kara SuLema: You're sure this is the right way, Galanoth?

Kara SuLema: You don't suppose they mean... <Dragon>?

Kara SuLema: And the rest of us just... wait?

    The Great One

Kara SuLema: I knew <Dragon> was special, but to think their origins and purpose are so important to Lore...

Kara SuLema: Perhaps not. But we don't really know what purpose Lore was made for, do we?
Kara SuLema: Such existential mysteries will only bring torment.
Kara SuLema: We mustn't let them color our will.

    Reasons to Fight

If you joined the Vind Faction:
Kara SuLema: <Character>, before we go in, do you have a moment to talk?

Kara SuLema: While you were going through the Gauntlet, The Great One spoke to me. In my mind.
Kara SuLema: They... wanted to know what I was doing here.

    Kara SuLema: Yes... but...
Kara SuLema: All the refugees in Sulen'Eska, the resistance... I'm their leader. I'm responsible for them.
Kara SuLema: The Great One asked me if I felt as though I were abandoning the Vind to um... as they put it, "traipse around Lore".

Kara SuLema: I've struggled as a leader. I've made many decisions, both right and wrong, in hindsight.
    Kara SuLema: ...
Kara SuLema: I'd be lying if there wasn't part of me that just wanted to join the great Hero of Falconreach on an adventure to save the world.
Kara SuLema: And I'd also be lying if I said I didn't have any doubts that this is the right thing for me to be doing.
Kara SuLema: But with the fate of Lore in the balance, with the Greenguard Alliance, I think I'd have more regrets if I didn't help.
Kara SuLema: ...If I had stayed behind... and something went wrong.

Kara SuLema: I... I know that. I truly do. The Great One just... certainly had a way of prodding at my insecurities.
Kara SuLema: I just wanted to let you know, <Character>. That I know why I'm here. And I'll do all in my power to help you save Lore.

Kara SuLema: We should get going. Everyone's probably waiting for us!

    Into the Unknown

Kara SuLema: It's so uplifting to see everyone working together, isn't it?

Kara SuLema: Rose and Vind, DragonLords and refugees...
Kara SuLema: To think something as simple as preparing a ship for a journey could bring such unity.

Kara SuLema: ...The more the falsehoods we hold as true are challenged, the harder we push back.

Kara SuLema: Changing the world takes time. As does changing the way we think, the way we view each other...

    In Search of Slayers

    Kara SuLema: Mritha...

Kara SuLema: Hansa, you had a concern?

Kara SuLema: ...Are you sure? If there's anything bothering you, we should be aware of it. Your insight is always valuable!

Kara SuLema: I think... I can provide a solution with Wind magic. But I'll need to focus, and it will be quite draining.

Kara SuLema: My magic is ready. Lead the way.

Kara SuLema: This is awful. Do you suppose people inhaled the spores and were turned into... these?

Kara SuLema: I'm sorry, the Hollow creatures?

Kara SuLema: I see. We'll have to make it a priority to save any civilians we come across.

Kara SuLema: Thank you, Vseslava, Ostromir. I could do with a break.

    Roots of Change

Kara SuLema: We encountered some fierce resistance. How did you and the DragonLords fare, Captain?

Kara SuLema: When we heard about the fungus erupting overnight, I didn't imagine it would be this... this quick.

Kara SuLema: Is everyone doing okay?

    The Way Forward

Kara SuLema: Ostromir, if you need to talk—

    Kara SuLema: Of course, Hansa.

Kara SuLema: Hansa, you needn't push yourself so hard.

    Kara SuLema: Mritha? What's wrong?

    Through the Tangle

Kara SuLema: Hansa, have you been able to discern anything more in the depths?

Kara SuLema: Well, <Character> will be there to handle any trouble that comes up.

Kara SuLema: Or maybe the fungus has some intelligence behind it...

    The Deep Dark

Kara SuLema: We must be careful. It appears the Tytan supports the city on its back.
Kara SuLema: The fate of Lore comes first, of course, but if the Tytan were to collapse, the city would be lost beneath the waves.

Kara SuLema: Yes, that would be wise. We need all the help we can get!

    Into the Abyss

Kara SuLema: Is everyone... Is everyone okay?

Kara SuLema: Where is it headed?

Kara SuLema: As much as I hate to say it, we may need to split up.
Kara SuLema: It's held in place by fungal tendrils. If we can dislodge those, we might be able to access it better.
Kara SuLema: But if we all went one at a time... It would take far too long.

    Fate's Flow (Part 1)

If you joined the Vind faction:
Kara SuLema: What do you mean?

Kara SuLema: I trust Jaania. She's learned from her mistakes.

Kara SuLema: I... I want to believe in her.

    Kara SuLema: Mritha, please.

Kara SuLema: Thank you, Galanoth. It is most appreciated. Perhaps we can send some aid after we've moved on to the final rift.

Kara SuLema: The tendril is just up ahead. Ready, <Character>?

Kara SuLema: I can provide some protection as well, if things start to collapse.

Kara SuLema: Mritha, how are things looking outside?

Kara SuLema: Then... it must be flailing. One last burst of energy before it falls.

    Fate's Flow (Part 2)

Kara SuLema: Can you help us out, Hansa?

Kara SuLema: From how the Tytan is shuddering, I imagine the battling must be pretty fierce...

Kara SuLema: The breeze... the blue sky... I didn't know how much I missed it until I saw it again.

Kara SuLema: Is there a safe landing anywhere nearby? We're still not entirely safe, and the dragons will need to rest soon.

    Twin Tides

Kara SuLema: It has to be getting energy from somewhere.

Kara SuLema: ...You can't close the Rift?

Kara SuLema: We won't reach the Rift in time. And even if we could, Ostromir and Vseslava don't have the mana to bring it under control.

Kara SuLema: What about us? Is there any way we can help?

Kara SuLema: Are you sure you don't want to rest a little longer?

    Awakened Depths: Epilogue (All Versions)
If you joined the Vind Faction:
Kara SuLema: <Character>! I hope you're enjoying yourself?

Kara SuLema: Isn't it? It reminds me of home, you know. Not Sulen'Eska, but the Dreamwood.

Kara SuLema: Not quite! We didn't have Moglinberry juice, for one. Nor did we have Mritha kicking down the door!

Kara SuLema: If we can find a moment of peace, that would be wonderful.
Kara SuLema: Oh, what am I saying? I can't afford to dream like this.
Kara SuLema: Even with The Rose and Vind at peace, there will always be those in need of our aid.

Kara SuLema: You're right, of course. You're right.
Kara SuLema: I have dependable allies. I... I don't need to carry every burden on my own.
Kara SuLema: Oh, but this is such serious talk for a time of celebration!
Kara SuLema: I'm sorry, <Character>! Please, don't let me keep you from enjoying your night.

      Kara SuLema: I suppose...
Kara SuLema: You know, I should be mingling! Making allies!
Kara SuLema: Mritha is a fine liaison to the DragonLords, but perhaps there are connections to be made with Dragesvard!

Kara SuLema: And we can assist with the city's reclamation with some elven magic!

Kara SuLema: Oh, of course! It's been a while, but, yes, I think I've earned a break.
      Kara SuLema: Guilt free!
Kara SuLema: Once we return to Swordhaven, I shall send out a call for any members of the Vind who are willing to assist with the clean up.
Kara SuLema: I'm sure our affinity to Nature and Wind will be a great help!

Kara SuLema: Everyone has everything they need? Backpacks packed? I'd hate to have to ask the ship to turn around...

Kara SuLema: Oh, Mritha... The Vind will miss you and Odgne, but I wouldn't dream of denying your request.

Kara SuLema: Of course, Mritha. Both cities will be in good hands under your protection.

    Fallen Facade

Kara SuLema: Ah... How wonderful it is to be back in the forests of Greenguard!
Kara SuLema: No more spores, no more cold...

Kara SuLema: Hansa, what's going on?

Kara SuLema: There's your answer. A fight it is! Keep the Golden Hand safe!
Kara SuLema: That was The Rose. They shouldn't have been attacking us!

    Kara SuLema: But... Jaania wouldn't...

Kara SuLema: Maybe... Maybe it was General Akanthus again?

    Kara SuLema: R-right.

    Chasing Answers

Kara SuLema: I'm sorry, <Character>. I can take one, maybe two others. Certainly not everyone required.
Kara SuLema: The winds of the Whispering Steppes are unkind, and may delay us further still.

Kara SuLema: She is stable. Thankfully she seems to have avoided much of Akanthus' attack. But... her wounds are still severe.

    Kara SuLema: Certainly.
